Fences 3.03 kept hanging and crashing at bootup then it would close. I reinstalled it numerous time and still had the same results. Tech support had me try a few things but nothing worked.
I searched the internet and read an article that had Fences 2 installed on a Windows 8 computer before it upgraded to Windows 10, and Fences 2 still worked great.
So I found an old version of Fences 2.13 that I purchased in December 2014 and decided to try it, and it works perfectly! Just like it's supposed to! No hanging or crashing, I can move icons in and out of the fences without any problems.
There has to be something wrong with Fences 3.03 because this forum is full of people who are having problems with Fences 3.03, or all of the version 3.xx of Fences.
So why does Fences 2.13 work fine but Fences 3.03 doesn't? It can't be all of our computers, it must be the programming.
I know it can't be my computer, it's fairly new and I built it myself.

Hey guys I wanted to change to another system so i would like to import the configs and layouts together to my new pc. Any idea on how to export snapshots file in fences 3? Thanks!
See this:

You'd want to create a current snapshot, copy the files from the folder indicated in the above post over to a drive you can access from both the old and new machine, install Fences on the new machine, copy the files to the appropriate folder on the new machine, restore the copied current snapshot from within Fences.
I'm very disappointed in Fences 3, this stupid vertical icon spacing wastes everything, does it really take so long to correct this ?
Hi There
As an IT tech I have a lot of systems I use and fences is agreat way to organise the shortcuts to programs and systems, but it's getting to a stage where I'm just fed up of this "glitch".
I Run fences 3.0.5.11 on a W10 laptop with a docking station (Dell E7480 w/D3100 dock - I have 3 screens connected to the dock). I've used fences for a number of years and have a subscription etc. When I undock my laptop the rollup fences I have just above my taskbar move all over the place. I correct them to where they're supposed to be. I dock and it readjusts everything, but the rollup fences then move elsewhere again and I have to restore the snapshot of when I was last docked. This is now starting to get tedious.
Am I missing a setting somewhere where it remembers the number of screens, placement of fences and resolutions? (I have "Store my Fences' positions on a screen-resolution basis" enabled).
Cheers
Andy
Loving it so far (Fences 3.0.5.12).
If only the when rolling on hover state could be on top on all my already open others windows. that's could be a game changer ! Kind of annoying to Windows+M each time to minimise all windows just to open a fence...
regards!
