I picked up banished on the steam sale it was having recently & was really impressed to find a city building game not set in a modern day setting with ,more than a few new takes on things. the fact that it was made by one guy makes it all the more impressive. Once I understood gameplay enough to survive a few dozen years, I started looking at mods & colonial charter is a downright incredible enhancement (although a hundred+ new buildings with complex supply chains would have killed earlier understanding attempts)
spmehow I don't think I've ever even heard of it does anyone else play this?
I actually had a look at the mod the other day, but it was a bit too needlessly complex for my taste.
It's complex no doubt, but the complexity meshes well with the fact that a big part of banished is just surviving while the mod gives a lot of stuff you can develop & work towards once your town has reached a semistable plateau of stability.
I occasionally play vanilla banished, but I haven't really tried to get into the mods. I wish this guy would be put in change of a SimCity 6.
Was the issue with units just going off and starving themselves, even though there is plenty of food stored ever fixed?
it's a cool game. Mostly for the novelty that it's an indy-one-dude-creation or whatever. It's a good game, I played it a while when it first came out. Pretty linear and when you get your city going it pretty much levels out with nothing to do. Haven't played it since then so unsure if it's been updated to be deeper, or how the mod scene is (I don't think there were mods when I played, or maybe just a couple to fix bugs).
I've been seeing it on sale for a couple of bucks - definitely worth picking up if it's less than, say $3. I paid almost full price I think (or maybe it was half, can't remember), because I wanted to support the dev.
hope this helps, cheers
