I'll write a fancier version of this soon but here is our near-term schedule:
Late update: December 2017
We need more dread lords...oh and Scythia and ..oh wait..wrong 4x!
Updated.
I officially start full time on GalCiv III on November 28.
I better not hear any whining about the AI getting "too hard". You'll have to turn down your settings, I ain't going to wimp it out because people used to beat it at higher levels.
No whining here...
Can't wait for additional information, concerned a little about the Bazaar being added to the core game being this was a big feature in the Mercenaries expansion but, I'm sure they have a plan
We'll see. Just remember. Every time I get onto one of these things and beef up the AI, someone complains saying the AI is cheating to beat them. AI cheating requires work on my part. I don't like working. It gives me wrinkles. Humans are terrible at strategy games.
As far as the AI is concerned, you humans are, frankly, a distraction.
Having done a cursory look at the AI in GalCiv III as it is today, I won't criticize engineers who worked on it. The problem with humans trying to program AI is that they try to implement strategies as if the AI were people. That's the wrong way to do AI in these games. AI's win because they're not lazy and stupid like you humans are. You guys make so many mistakes every turn and a good game AI should deal with that.
My beef with the GalCiv III AI is that it is actually trying to provide some sort of...I dunno, entertainment experience. I realize that there's a lot of articles out there saying that that is what AI is there fore. My view is that people should just go play those games if that's what they want. I wrote the original GalCiv in order to have an AI. The only reason I let people play the damn game at all is because I need your money for my work.
You just made my year, Brad!
Great news
Can´t wait, Frogboy!
Bring it.
Also, while you are at it, please take a look at this thread (if you haven't allready), we collected a bunch of issues with the AI. Some of these may be relevant to what you will be working on.
Thanks.
Any chance we could get a Hot Seat setting for multiplayer in one of these updates? That is the one feature I have been waiting on since launch, would love to play this with friends when they visit.
I second the hotseat feature. That was one of the best things civilization had above anything. Is anyone going to fix the yors tech tree, so they can at least compete against other players.
I was wondering if the mega mod update was a part of Crusade, if its been pushed back, or if I've missed it?
I hope I haven't missed it...
Great news!!! 3.0.... Really intriguing... What will it be? Can't await it!
Galciv 2.7: Something tht will annoy the heck out of those who love min-maxing.
Galciv 2.8: Something that will further another the heck out of those who love min-maxing and will also annoy those who love the Korath.
Galciv 3.0: Etc etc.
That seems to be the lot of developers and designers: You know you're gonna piss someone off and that someone will most likely very prominant and posty - very adept and creating repititive threads and posts complaining - and good at creating Steam profiles to complain about your work and downvote it so it's Shit A or Shit B or Shit C.....
Looking forward to Reveal Day. Merry Holiday Celebrated on Earth But Lord Kona Don't Do That Happy Crappy Stuff So Not On Kona No Sir and Happy New However Many Turns Make A Human Year everybody
People like you and comments like this by people like you mrblondini are so unbelievable waste and annoying!!!
hawkeyebf1, I'm just calling it the way I see it.
Read frogboy's posts and you can't help but get the impression that he's in an impossible position - as he himself says, you can't please everybody.
I realise my post was somewhat cynical but, as I say, I'm still looking forward to what's ahead. I mean, if whoever came up with the idea of Citizens - which is the best thing to happen to GalCiv3 IMHO if not quite at full potential at present - can come up with something as good for Politics/Elections then 3.0 should be something to behold.
Yes could be. But there is no reason to be so negative in reference to all the fans there are happy about all the developments. That's the thing I don't understand... Every time there is somebody how try to talk every step forward in a negative direction What is the reason for that?!
3.0 will be about space and ground battles!
Maybe it's time to update the first post?
Any new updates for Galactic Civilizations III after the Star Control release outside of a few tweaks mentioned in this post? Galactic Civilizations III: Fall 2018 updates
Seilore,
There will be a new 'universal' engine that will require 4 cores/8 threads and 16 gigs of ram that Stardock has been secretly working on.
This engine will 'merge' the real time exploration fun of Star Control Origins with the turn based patience of Gal Civ III into one universal space game.
Currently the Xraki are in Alliance with the Yor. Since the Yor are non biologic they Xraki see them as tools. The Xraki went 'below' and retrieved modules to allow the Yor to become more and more like Saberhagens 'Berserkers'.
Due to the threat of complete annihilation of all life, the Drengin and Scryve have allied to form the Sultanate of the Dryve. This brings the more advanced Precourser tech of the Scryve to join with the industrial and soldiering might of the Drengin.
All of this will be real time but the new engine can be 'switched' to turn based in the event you want to 'walk away and come back later. I must say both Brad and Paul Moyer did an excellent job.
Hope to see you soon!
