I'll write a fancier version of this soon but here is our near-term schedule:
Late update: December 2017
Eh, I really am looking specifically to get leveling systems (I actually am surprised that the merc captains can't level themselves too, it woulda made sense!). I am enjoying the addition of the mercs, I think its a great addition (Almost a "why wasnt this here before" one ) so don't get me wrong, I bought it day one! But I love having leveling systems, something to show that "hey this little fighter has survived a hundred battles where most die the first time", you know? Its rewarding to me I am curious how easy / hard it is to mod in new Mercs, I have a couple custom ones I would love to add Will have to take a look.
+1 I really miss the leveling system too... I do hope something like that gets added in. Admirals, or veterancy for ships. It's a cool, addictive feature in a lot of 4x games these days, AoW3, Endless Space, Civ V, Beyond Earth, etc. but even the old school MoO2. Acquiring new perks in an rpg style is a lot of fun too! Just my two cents.
Is there any news on the starbase update? I like the game but on large maps managing starbases is a chore and really detracts from the experience.
I'd happily opt in to a beta if that's an option?
If you are looking for info on what might be in the update check out the last dev stream.
Can we get an ETA on the 1.7 patch? Everyone loves new features.
1.7 is in QA.
We are probably going to do a public beta of it in the next week or so since it's a pretty big set of changes.
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to it.
Great news, Brad! Is the administration systém going to be in?
Thx.
What happened to fixing planetary invasion? I'm not playing the game because this component has not been improved...
Roadmap on the Steam forums is updated with 1.8 and 1.9.
Quoting Draginol:
I have been asking the same question and have had no answer.
There won't be any big changes to the planetary invasions in the base game. We'll be adding it as part of a much larger expansion pack.
Are there plans to enable open beta participation through GoG Galaxy? (Or is there maybe a base subscriber level that GoG needs to hit before it is worth the effort to run betas on two distribution platforms?)
And on a related note, is there an estimate for when 1.7 will go to final release version?
3. Political parties + Domestic politics (dealing with the senate, building a cabinet, etc.).
I hope the parties/elections take on a different form from the first two, if only because it amounted to 'keep morale above X% or take a production penalty', which wasn't particularly interesting.
I'd rather see it arranged that instead of having a party which is 'yours' and only getting the benefit if it gets elected, none of the parties are 'yours' and elections are dependent on what the empire's population abstractly considered to be the big issues (which might not be the same as what you think are the big issues), providing a relevant benefit based on the results. This might or might not be the one you'd like to have, but at least it would be there and something you could then work to leverage.

Greetings! This list just covers the the release and the first year from release. Our GalCiv III timeline goes out to 2019 in terms of the "broad" features we want to do. The details (including DLC) will be heavily determined by you guys.
This list is outdated, although still goes through Summer of this year. Can we get an update of both timeline (assuming right now it's still on track) and what is beyond 1.8? Also why is Stardocks own forum not as updated as I had to go to Steam to find this information?
1.71 -> 1.8 Because both of these are showing Player feedback based are these going to have more bug fixes attached than previous releases? Also in another post it was mentioned that 1.8 would actually still be focusing on additional Diplomacy issues is that true or what does the future hold for Galactice Civilizations III.
In addition to 1.71 -> 1.8 it mentions additional DLC's (Ship Parts/Workshop) are these still planned as there has been little chatter on future DLC's (Paul talked very briefly on this in the Dev Stream about 1-2 months ago) but, hesitated to go into any details of what they might be. Anything?
Thanks.
I know this is minor in most people's minds, but it is a constant source of irritation for me-- fix the spelling and grammar! Please!!
The game appears illiterate as it stands. This type of attention to detail imbues a sense of professionalism in the final product.
We all paid for a professional product, did we not?
Thank You!
Do you have an example?
Sure. Steller is currently being used instead of Stellar.
Hi Frogboy,
Spelling - "Infedel" is but one of many. Not every race makes this error.
Grammar - "One wormhole to many"-- Is that more than a tolerable amount of wormholes (too)? Or is that a reference to experienced travel between them (to)? This is ambiguity at its finest, and therefore becomes meaningless, confusing and distracting.
Those two examples jump into mind, but there are many throughout the game. Of course, I don't remember them all without being reminded during game-play.
Sorry to be so persnickety, but it makes me grind my teeth every time I see something like this. I just think it detracts from what will someday become a classic, quality game. I believe that. I also believe it should be nipped in the bud before it becomes a gargantuan set of tentacles permeating GalCiv III.
Above all, kids play this game, and their already deteriorating command of the language should not be encouraged. I see grammatical blunders in major publications in this country every day and am appalled for the same reason. I realize GC3 was never intended to be an educational tool, but this is basic English we're talking about.
If I can put even a tiny dent in this terrible trend, I will consider my earthly time to not have been wasted.
Frogboy, if you are sincerely interested in correcting these mistakes, I would be more than happy to keep track of them for you, as I encounter the boo-boos, and send you a list from time to time. I'm forever playing the game anyway, so a little productive result would make me feel better about myself and all those "wasted" hours.
I'm ashamed to tell you that I have well over 1000 hours invested in this game and can offer but two lonely examples off the top of my head. I didn't expect this happy result from a simple post in a forum, and have arrived unprepared.
Thanks for all your hard work; you and the SD team have given me many hours of enjoyment.
Let me know what you think,
Richard
During the beta I ran a spell checking program on some of the XML files and submitted a list of errors to be corrected. Some got fixed (including a different misspelling of infidel). Others have crept back in. It irks me too.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 67Do you have an example?

If hunting down typos is important, and it should be; and you don't have the staff to do the legwork of proofreading God knows how many lines of text and code, then perhaps you should have a contest- periodic or ongoing- where players could win content for ferreting out these little loose ends. Submissions could be posted so that duplicate entries would not count.

Of course, this is a good solution to the ongoing English error lesson, but I would much rather be paid exorbitant wages for doing it alone, thank you very much

Game developers are rarely well paid (not specifically referring to Stardock employees). They work long hours, lose sleep and are paid so so as compared to other detail technical fields. We are talking about a game not code for a nuclear plant. It is in all our interests as players to help the Developer create a better game. I submit bug reports with as much information as I can to help quash bugs. I am happy to run an editor to find stuff and fix things.
In the end helping the folks who develop our game only makes <your> experience that much better.

I was joking, Larsenex. I meant it tongue in cheek.
I would be willing to help if you need it,
