I m a old dinosaur and loved this game and sry for my english im not a native speaker... I have played it alot (GalCiv2)... I have bought this 3 new version of it as he comes out in beta..but.. now i really found the time to invest some hours in playing....and sure im dissapointed...
I mean at the time this version can do not much more than 60% of Galciv2...
Ok so sure they are new components ..sure the availability to play against much more factions.. but.. guys... ( I mean the devs now)... I come also from the IT.. but not from the Game Devs part of it.. I must sincerely ask you somethin... When you bring up a new version of a software are you all suffering of amnesia ???? Is that normal in the branch ? wtf...
I mean not only Stardock has this amnesia also the other companies when they bring out a new Version of their older games... but guys PLS...come back to normal...
You should improve your new version , make it better..bigger, and sure improve it as best as you can.. to make it perfect... not only to profite from the NEW technical abilities that you can improve it with more factions or better graphics what is given because the old version was done 10-15 years ago and bring out a game than can´t do a half of what the previous version has done... I will keep the improvement list not so detailed because i have found already very good explanations here in forum about the points that i will write and for the other one i will let you devs make your jobs as best as you can and think about that what you developed and bring out to the market..
ok.. enough of critics... coming to the facts... and to the Improvements
1. Diplomacy..
- Pls rework it... The availability for peace is not there(Galaxy Peace) ... Also not the availability to force a faction to END a war against another one... when you will improve this... add the option also for Client Factions or so... I mean what brings me the opprtunity to play against 100 factions.. when i cannot control them.. They are killing each other and that was it ?..We are playing here a strategy game... not Counter Strike.. Pls... rework it ASAP....you MUST have this possibilities... not only make war and destroy a faction.. Or you can´t do nothing as look how they are destroyed from a 3rd part.. (except war or destroy the 3rd part).. Peace negotiasons...(War is sometimes maybe necessary but extermination is only a option in GalCiv2 here is it a must. Why ?)
1a. TechTree (Diplomacy as well)
- I sure not understanding it..what this techtree do.. but the old one was clear (GalCiv2) for me.. ET-Techs are ET techs any my faction techs are my faction techs... here in GalCiv3 this are not given.. f.e .. I play terran alliance.. I meet the Drengin i want to trade Tech... I want to have their slavecamp techs.. So i can build it also... but.. wtf.. the techtree "translate" only the technology for me and that was it... (1. critic ..on this option you are come to an end very fast because of tech trading and only the option before the start to disable it not give you the FUN of playing it as in GalCiv2. 2. you cannot have a diversity of ET buildings, -techs--, shipparts and so on.. I mean.. the diversity of buildings are very POOR in Galciv3 already especially for the Races.. (look at YOR, Iconians and so on) but to also not let them trade the Faction specific techs.. with the availability to can use the ET tech... make it much more poorer... f.e You want to make a planet with focus on Manufacturing... You can there have a diversity of buildings as inb Galciv2.. not only a Factory.. same is for Research and Trade....
2. Diversity of Buildings for the Factions (read 1a )
- and for sure bring the factions back that are missing from GalCiv2.
- A improvement should be .. to bring also a window.. where you can choose at a start of the game also the selection of the minor factions...
-Another Improvement is... maybe for the BADASS Factions or for all... to have the opprtunity to communicate with the Pirate Factions..and f.e. in exchange of a sum of money the pirates should attack a 3rd faction...(attack trade route... a little guerilla, mercenaries war should be available not only extermination war)
3. Planet Categorize Window... Im missing the window where i can change between my planets and that one i can colonize (already discopvered but uncolonized planets)... wtf.. sure as a list where i can search and find the best planet that i will select to colonize... for what are my explorers when not also to categorize what they found ?... Pls bring back this from galciv2..
4. Planet Gouvernor Window - I have not playing 1.4 until now... But pls.. bring back the abiliities what you has in Galciv2...
5. Asteroids are now only useless Jpg´s ? Sure i like the new ressources.. but Asteroids has in Galciv2 also other effects like the Moon or the rings for the planets... and sure i miss the Asteroids Ships... bring them back..maybe with another focus...f.e let the player choose what should be improved after the ship are insalled ...f.e (moral- they found some rocks that contain some drug substances, manufacturing, research...trade as well... and so on..
- when you will improved it... then allow .f.e Sun systems with more than 5 Planets... or sure Planets with more than 1 moon.... (Mars have 2 only as example)
6. I miss the DEATH..ah sry BATTLESTARS from Galciv2.. bring thems back.
- renaming stars
- when you destroy a planet i miss the asteroids... you know what i mean... also i miss the colonization of class 0 planets.think about that.
- spies...
---and so on.. wtf ...guys you bring out a new version of a game and you do not have a plan what the old one can do ? Im sure that you know... what the project GalCiv2 has included.... Or you think our kids or this Gamers Generation are not so smart for such a art game ? you wanna keep them ...not so smart ? .. Are you reallly proud that the only thing that they learn from this game are extermination of races or the other ones when they are in one conflict ?....I really not understand that.....
7. A GOOD wiki hopefully will come for the game .. in this one that is now... i didnt found nothing.. i was f.e curios.. how many factions the game has... but this is a to high questions for the new wiki... the questions can somebody here maybe answer... how many factions bring DLC2 and DLC 3 ? I saw Dreadlords are back ?
8. Pls bring out a editor for the modders to simplify their work... f.e for making videos for custom factions... starting planets diversity..etc...
9. When you really want to improve the game...then bring the opportunity.. for the races... for the population.. so that every race has his people.. Its the only point that i have missed in GalCiv2.. this point sure comes after plaiying another Game that is dead now.. but was a Creation of 'Thinking at his time.. Im talking about Master of Orion 2....
So that then you can have multiculture planets, Let you build multicultural colonies on asteroids f.e. or simply let the player choose what for a population he want to have on a colonized planet.. and so on..

A lot of the things you ask for came from GalCiv2 expansions. And we will be seeing them return in GalCiv3 expansions. This is not an excuse, just information.
I hope eviator that im the one who is only disinformated about what will come.. and this will come.. because it is a shame at the moment...

Bring out a MILKY WAY Insane Map that the players can select to play...pls only this one one when you don´t have time for more...
and I hope ah sry ...Im sure the modders will bring then out a insane Map with the Star Trek or Star Wars Universe...
Honestly most of what you are saying has been discussed either on the forums or during the streams.
1. You can ask for peace so don't understand what you are complaining about.
1b. For the moment you can not trade civilization specific techs, they are working on this and have said it is more difficult than they expected, it will probably be in the first expansion.
5. Asteroid mining will be in the first expansion, probably.
I have seen star systems with more than 5 planets. I think I saw one with 8.
6. They had to create the game from scratch, they couldn't just port things over. And I'm in the camp that thought Terror Stars or not fun or worth the investment. Regardless they will put in something to destroy planets.

yeah i saw some of the points already discussed... but only discussing it don´t brings us forward.. we wanna see it in game.... and at the moment this are the facts... disapointed about this version...
1.. Yes you not understanding it... you can ask only between your faction that are at war with another one for peace... BUT you cannot ask faction C that are at war with Faction D to make peace... and END their War... Why i want this .. sure not only because it was in Galciv2.. I want it as a option because when i trade with faction D f.e. but im not allied with it i don´t want that they should be exterminated by faction C. And at the moment the only option I have is to declare war on C and exterminate them... That is NOT a OPTION...The other example is.. I want to keep the Factions races alive im my universe.. not to exterminate them...Sure is ok when faction C f.e. declare War on faction D because they want a planet from them... then they conquer it.. and then they ask for peace.. but sry... the AI doesn´t work so ..it never done... they exterminate them when they are at war .. That is why we need such a option...and yes i know also about the console command GOD... but this is also not a playable option... to use it and destroy then f.e. Factions C ships or so...
-- SOLAR SYSTEMS Sry until my hours of playing i don´t see Sytems with more then 5 planets... and believe me I have started over 100 games and use the console command FOW to look at the systems....and 5 planets on a sytem are very rare... mostly i saw 2-3 planets with at the moment useless asteroids...The first thing where i think than about.. when you saw a solar system with 8 is... Why then the Terran system doesn´t have 8 planets ?
6. for sure i respect your opinion that you don´t need Terror Stars... but the solution is simple... some of the factions did it.. also like other players.. when you have the option to build such things then it is your choice if your spend your money,ressources or energy in game to build one or not... but i don´t agree with you that when you find them worthless then they should not be implemented...sure the Devs must think here about a good balance.. but they have already one with the normal defensive starbases...when you need more details on that...
- TERROR STARS can destroy a Planet but are slowly ... good
- Defensive BattleStations should be available to build a module for destroying TERROR Stars... (simple)
- You are more the Pacifist player ? Ok how about a module that can create a wormhole to catapult the Terror Stars somewhere else in the galaxy...or back in time (dissapearing).. ( a little bit more complicated to do)
7. You also not undestand im was looking for ALL the factions also the minors... I don´t found them because they are not complete... The Question is what factions already brings DLC 2 and DLC 3 ? Snathi ? Dreadlords ... what are this Peacemmekers or Space Monsters ? I saw only the XML Files.... and in the wiki they list 11 minor factions... in the milky way scenario are 12 minors...(take a look into the XML files)
Yes i know about the milky way scenario... But first it is not a insane map.. second you can play it as a scenario not as a map where you can choose the starting factions....
That is why i ask about bringing a milky way map out that you can choose to play on it...and that as insane size
btw i hope too... they bring that out what you say...
There's a good reason why there aren't more than 5 planets per star (for 99% of the time - I have run into a 7-planet system).
They don't provide anything to the game, except as a *very* minor move inhibitor.
In all honesty, you're not going to find a system with more than 3 usable planets. So who cares if there are 2 or 5 dead planets hanging around? Note that the entire GC games are not meant as simulators, so it's never the intention to indicate that a Sun can't have lots of planets. The GC planets are simply a game artifact. It would be significantly unbalancing if systems had lots of *inhabitable* planets, so that's where the 3-per-system limit comes in, and if that's the limit for inhabitable, then the uninhabitables are just bling.
And, yes, there's a cost to adding them - not just dev time, but they add significant resource burdens, as a typical mid-sized map now has 30+ stars, a large one 100+, and the huge ones 1000+. Adding 25% to the number of planets is a *lot* more compute and memory space.

Terror stars are major issues of contention; don't expect to see anything like that from SD except *maybe* as a DLC. But with the community really divided as to whether or not they're a good idea, it's never a good idea for a company to introduce something that will turn off half it's userbase. For GC2, that *might* have been ok, but especially now that we have multi-player, such feature addition have to be seriously popular before they're included as a part of the basic game.

Feel free to mod and add the factions from GC2 you want. It's simple and easy. That said, there *is* a storyline in progress, and certain races simply aren't a factor anymore. Races that got eliminated/reduced by the end of the GC2 campaigns aren't going to be included as major factions anymore. DLCs will likely bring some of them back as minor races, but a couple are gone for good. That said, it's easy to use the Workshop to get them back again if you want.

it is only the perspective from where you see it...or how you play it.... here in GC3 also the console doesn´t works anymore such in GC2...
but this is my dissapointment saying it only in one phrase... Gc2 gives you more possibilities to improve yourself your game to a simulation... Here this are all gone and taken from the player...
and not given... IN GC2 f.e you can via console and mouse ( not only random events or only as random effect because here in GC3 you cannot select with the mouse the planet...to convert a inhabitable planet into a class 1 planet.. and then via terraforming to improve or sure you can also convert it to a paradise planet... that was good on how you think you will plan your strategy or simply your art of playing... f.e. i did makes all the planets habitable in a solar system that belongs to a minor faction... and give them all the planets in exchange for something else... The minor was then only colonize on this solar system but not only on a planet... that gives me f.e. more wealth from trade route and so on... But here this facility are also not given... but that is a reason for heaving more planets on a system and sure realism too...
or another example... is to have 2-3 minors on only one solar system...
Btw... here it is something given that in GC2 was not... when your work with the editor you can add to a star more planets so it is possible to have more then 5 planets on a solar system but then only on the map you created for it.... but is useless because you cannot convert in game a inhabitable planet into a habitable... it is possible only randomized so the game can it (via event f.e. or improved ideology).... but you don´t... and the shame is you can´t select which one you want to become habitable.....also not via console....
---- hopefully you understand now that my idea that comes from GC2 and already was developed by this Company doesn´t cost so much as you describe.. it cost only the time to add 3 commands to the console.. to point and select... the convert command is already there... and nothing more....small improvement change but with big effect....
Pls don´t make it much more complicated as it is already....and to improve a solar syswtem from 5-7 is also not a big thing to deal with it....because you don´t need and also i don´t want every solar system with 7-8 planets on it.. it is enough on a insane map f.e to have only 10 systems of this with 8 planets...

Sure the improvement wish for this one is not this.. this is now only the fact that isn´t included... the improvement would be f.e. a module for a terror star or huge ship that let you shoot on one inhabitable planet and convert it so into a habitable.. (new technology maybe not only to destroy also to create...)
Or also a selection at a start of a game where you can select the solar systems... 10x8 100x3 and so on.. and also a selection menu for the minors..but i did write this down for nothing... because they don´t care....they want only money
------To your Terror Star Argument you need to know only that the vice-versa is also relevant. (don´t think like a egoist)...when you think it´s not a good idea for a company to introduce something that will turn off half of it´s userbase.... The other half are at first dissapointed because is not there and they will loose them definetly when they not bring it in.. For your half is just a simple solution... DON´T USE THEM.....But that is not a reason to not bring them back in...when your half is a half and not just a minority...
------you make me smile... I already download or edited the faction i want in for the game... but sry i must say it again don´t bring me arguments or pretext like story lines and so on because they bring out a unfinished game to the market or because they are simply lazy and want money in exchange for nothing...
We cannot first mod this factions as good as they can from a simple reason that we are amateurs they are experts... we don´t have the tools and also not the experience that they have to do it in a professional way.. ( movies , exclusive ship designment and so on..) look only at the DLC Snathi Faction and compare it pls... with whatever faction you want from the Workshop... Maybe then you will understand what I mean...).But when you are happy to play with a NPG´s as a faction and with the same ships that we have from 10 unique factions and spend your money for it.. then be happy with that...sure my arguments are then useless for you....
and last but not least we are the customers... not the ones that are payed for it...sry
