4Q2015: Founders Program. Fans of the original will be able to apply to become a founder. They will gain access to the vault and private forums where we can discuss what we're doing more openly. NDA required.
1Q2016: Founders begin to provide design feedback.
2Q2016: Founders get the tools we have. The objective will be to help get the modding community going.
3Q2016: Founders finalize with us the canon and get ready for Super Melee.
4Q2016: Founders Program Phase II begins.
1Q2017: Super Melee Prototype with select Founders.
2Q2017: Planetary Exploration implemented
3Q2017: Custom Ship design implemented
4Q2017: Super Melee BETA! / Stellar Crafter built.
1Q2018: World Crafter built / Adventure Mode built
2Q2018: Chapter 1 BETA
3Q2018: RELEASE!

Sounds good! What exactly is a Founders program? How much money does one have to give to become a founder?
The Founder's program lets people get access to the alpha game and the final game (of course). But prior to the alpha, we want to be able to talk to players about ideas, concepts and other topics not ready for public consumption.
Where do I sign? Will I need to visit in person to sign the NDA? I want to be onboard from the beginning. Let us know, Brad!
I did a little bit of modding in the past and there are many areas that can be enhanced in SC so Im interested. But how much of our freetime will be required? Are there other demands except signing NDA?
Also is it possible to participate only in one phase? Im afraid that I wont have enough time to play with modding tools etc. next year.
Will I be able to run the founders program on my Mac, or will this be a Windows exclusive for the initial alpha?

though out the years I've kept my eyes open, but wow i missed this one. Is this still the case with purchasing into the Star Control Lifetime Founder's Edition - $99.99? Or can one still do that?

I can't help but feel all this "activity"/"updates" around the founders edition is just a big misdirection.
You see, the forum thread is called Tentative Schedule not Oh look! Let's talk about founders edition!
I have no problem with people that missed out, from getting a second round of money-grab from the developers, but it would be a respectful and nice thing to give the first rounders an update.
Can you guys move chit-chat about the founders program to another thread? Can we keep this one on point regarding the upcoming releases (hopefully) of the game?

If the team has time to spare, can we get an updated 'tentative schedule' listed for the founders members? I think that the team at Stardock is doing a great job of responding as needed, and I think that a posted update here could go a LONG way towards letting us have an insight to how things are progressing.

Is this game actually available to founders? I signed up as a founder and purchased the game. I've been getting occasional emails about the game, like giving me the opportunity to name a planet. The emails state that I should be able to get the game from Steam. But it does not show up on my Steam library, and while it does show up on my owned games on my account at stardock.com, no serial number is listed (serial numbers are listed for other games I've purchased from Stardock like GC3).
