And by better AI, I mean an AI that can beat or at least challenge the human WITHOUT using bonuses. An AI that can manage the economy correctly, can war competently and respond to galactic conditions and galaxy sizes, such as for example teaming together to take down a runaway civilization or expanding faster in the early game on larger galaxies or playing competently in the late game.
And yet almost everyone agrees with me on the problems.

Marigold, The ai is hands down good as compared to any other 4x game at this time.
Have you played Endless Space? Give it a try its pretty cheap now.
Also pick up Distan worlds Universe. While i love that game it is nothing compared to Gal Civ III.
Also if you have not done so try and play Gal Civ II Ultimate and see how the to compare and how far we have come in Ai.
The AI isn't as good as Civ IV: Realism Invictus mod though. That's the standard I'm judging it against.
