Expand your Galactic Civilizations III experience with new Mega Events that include the return of the Dread Lords, a declaration of war from the Peacekeepers and more.
Here are some EXAMPLES of some of the events:
Dread Lords Return A dormant Dread Lord colony has awoken. Stop them before they become too powerful and wipe out all life in the galaxy.
Peacekeepers A large force of time travelling robots appear and declare that they have been sent back to stop the conflicts that endanger the future.
Assassination A beloved leader is is assassinated, the new leader vows revenge plunging the galaxy into war.
Space Monsters - Distant relatives to the Living ships of the Dread Lords, begin to appear in the galaxy again. They will continue to spread until exterminated.
The Artifact A mysterious Artifact appears and starts boosting the power of a previously weak race. The only way to stop them from becoming gods is to kill them first.
You will also receive Organic Dread Lord Ship parts as part of this pack.
The Galactic Civilizations III Mega Event DLC is available now for $4.99 through Stardock or Steam.
If you are a Galactic Civilizations III Elite Founder:The Mega Events DLC was automatically added to your Steam account free of charge, and can be accessed under “Galactic Civilizations III” in the “DLC” section, enjoy!
Time travelling robots? Let us hope they don't terminate anything prematurely!
Cool! So glad I became an "elite founder" when I did. I now get to look forward to all this "free" content coming down the pipe... Looking forward to seeing what these are like!
Anyone know if you have to start a new game to see these events?
I believe so since it is in the galaxy creation options.
^ What the Xeno said.
This isn't worth a full $5 and you goddamn know it. I'm disgusted by this turn of events. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

RKade8583 : The DLC is an optional pack, nobody is forcing you to purchase it, so there is no reason for such anger. Don’t forget that Stardock (and all publishers) need to make some money, and DLCs are a great way to keep the original game at low cost and offer to their customers added contend vs a small cost. BTW 5$ USD isn’t enough to pay for a cheap burger at McDonalds so please don’t panic about the DLC cost
Then wait until this goes on sale, perhaps as part of a DLC pack. If it ain't worth a whole five dollars to you, then wait until the (combined) price is.
Sales happen eventually, you know.
Entitled much?
Seriously chill out. It costs less than a McDonalds Happy Meal (which you seem to be in need of). It is also not required. The game plays fine without it. So Either pony up the money for your next fast food meal which by the way will last only 40 minutes whereas this dlc is permanent, or don't.
It's the principle of the thing. I would pay $2 for it (and when it goes on sale, I'm going to) but I expected better of Stardock. The map pack included an editor. For $5, that's a good price. Hell, for $10, that's still a good buy if you're into it.
This is just exploiting completionists (like me) and I won't sit idly by. I will (and have) voice my displeasure. This is a rip-off.
I mean if this included a similar editor or more events, sure, but as it sits? No. Bad Stardock! BAD!
Now you see, if you had said this, I don't think you would have gotten as much pushback. But when you open up swearing at and cursing out Stardock.... Well, what do you expect?
Make a civil argument, get civil replies. Make a coarse, emotive, argument, you get McDonalds replies.
BTW, it was also mentioned in another thread that these DLCs will be expanded as time goes by. Something to think about in the future when the price point is more to your liking.
BTW: At least it ain't "Red Boots" DLC.
I said that about a whole minute or so after seeing the post on twitter. I'll admit I was in a... coarse mood.
That was a funny joke. I laughed quite heartily when I saw that in WL2. As for the DLC being expanded, I'll believe that when I see it. Maybe they'll expand this one to be worth it. $1 per random event that might not even show up in your game compared to maps and the ability to make maps... There's a drop-off in value for money spent.
If their anything like the mega events in GC2 they'll show up quite often don't you worry Unless I was really unlucky getting the DL's all the time? lol
Anyway Thank you Stardock and the team!
But they released more than 5 for free!
Yes but these are the ones past players really want? perhaps?
Dread Lords - Biggest bogeyman of them all - Kill'em quick or die quickly.
Peacekeeper Bloody annoying or terrifying - the old version use to kill ALL ships whether they were in space or orbit you had to hide your ships till you could take them out en masse.
Assassination was based on previous event that while on a tour of one of your planets a foreign leader would be killed by a disgruntled worker and diplomatic talks failed and only a war would punish us properly or something of that kind? It got real interesting if both parties had allies the offended race would declare war on you then your allies would declare war on them and then their allies would declare war on your allies as a result a relatively peaceful galaxy could become a bloodbath in a matter of 2 turns....and it was worse if they were your ally to start with?...
The Artifact is similar to a event in GC2 kill'em now or get crushed by them later and the longer you leave it the worse it becomes....As for the Space Monsters that's completely New probably comes from the suggestions made in Beta stages for distant universe type space monsters?
Quite nice,I had to turn mega events off in GC2 as I kept getting the DL's and couldn't find and kill them quickly enough most of the time. Its a DLC you don't have to buy it but the options there if you want to or you change your mind later on? I haven't bought the map editor yet myself but that's due to personal stuff.
And there's still room for everyone's other favorite, the Jagged Knife.
I tend to look at this as regular level Mega Events (patched) and Super Mega Events (paid). The mega events included in the patch are nice, but probably not game destroying. But the Peace Keepers and the Dread Lords might be fun. Especially if one is in the middle of an all out war of conquest or the Dread Lords spawn on some hidden corner of an Insane Map.
As for the future of this DLC, as I said, there's the Jagged Knife. Then the I-League could pop up. Throw in the "Unhappy Worlds Galaxywide" revolt one and we could have a party.
Follow the paradigm of small to medium Mega Events are free via patches and Super Mega Events are paid (in this DLC or a future one if a lot more are made) and I don't see much of a problem.
Only five? Where are the Jagged Knife and Galactic Plague?
?
I don't see a problem with that theory at all and if this had been at a better price point (or had more super mega events,) I wouldn't have any complaints. It may seem like small potatoes but, like I said, this is about principles. This can and has snowballed into nickel-and-diming the consumer elsewhere and I thought Stardock, of all companies, was above this.
I'm still going to buy it when it becomes a viable buy. Until then, I'm going to march in my robe and tinfoil hat and shout to the heavens about how another company has lost my respect and that this is all leading to nothing but nickel-and-diming because, in every case I've seen, it has.
Prove me wrong, Stardock. PLEASE!
@RKade8583 Fair enough mate there's not a lot I can say other than its your money you do what you want with it
@BuckGodot Yeah theres lots of room for more as we compiled a list somewhere in the Beta section of most of the usual events plus some new ones? Don't forget those events were built up over the lifetime of GC2 and its 2 expansions so we probably wont get everything all at once? plus Frogboy has just posted in the 1.3 thread that we can mod new events as well?
So I'm an elite founder (won it in a stream) and don't see either the map pack DLC or this DLC under my GalCiv properties in Steam. Both posts said they should be added automatically. Has anyone else had this problem? (I would have mentioned this back when the first DLC came out, but haven't had a chance to play until recently).
Get on Stardock support about it. They were good about giving me the free ship parts for buying the game in the first week.
I don't understand this. Are there more events than the 5 examples in the DLC oder are these 5 it? I interpret this that there are more than 5, but the thread here talks like there are no more.
I'm only going by this thread and what Frogboy stated in the 1.3 thread, but yes there is only 5 in this DLC but you get extra Dreadlord ship parts as well and can mod your own events?
There will probably be a lot more events down the road whether their free with patches or updates or optional DLC is yet to be known?
