KNOWN ISSUES and USE1) If you use this mod for your own ships/races/etc. a brief credit to this mod is appreciated. 2) Turn ship-trails off, I use engines as parts in turrets and hulls, it can be distracting.3) If you experience performance issues, it is most likely the result of the heavy use of animations in any/all of my ship models, or otherwise GC3's general issues. If you experience issues, I recommend either playing with less total races, less races utilizing the ship sets, or otherwise upgrading your PC. 4) Under no circumstances may you upload any of these ship designs or factions to Steam.THANK YOUPlease reach out and report any glitches/bugs, any ships with clipping or other issues. Also it would be great, if you end up adding to the designs using the custom components, for you to share them with the community! Please credit the mod if you do!Special thanks to: Horemvore for his helpful attitude and Diplomacy UI mod!R3bel02 for one of his logos. JP193 for submitting a design via the contest. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more!

I'm on Windows 10.
In the game when I go to make a custom faction, I can see all the ship designs and all the new backgrounds and all the new leader heads, but only 4 new factions are available for section.
Korx are a previous custom faction I made myself as a throw back to GalCiv2. Do pre-existing custom factions throw any spanners in the works?
Hey there!
So previous custom factions or future custom factions do not affect anything. So we are safe there.
Those do seem to be the correct files, and they are definitely in the right place. Even if you installed everything else incorrectly, they would still show up under normal circumstances.
Is it possible that they are present, but that, on the GC3 screen in question, that the menu isn't large enough to display and you don't have a scroll bar or some way of browsing them?
I have yet to take the plunge into Windows 10. I don't believe GC3 is -officially- supported on it yet, so it might be an issue there.
Adding a new custom faction allows me to scroll so the new factions don't appear to be hidden in that sense

Just a quick notification, to expect a update for GRM in the near future. This update will bring our total content to:
11 Shipsets
13 Major Races (the new bugs, are 3 races using one set)
20+ Portraits
20+ Backgrounds
20+ Logos (Mostly recolors and rotations of existing logos)
and, all new to your GRM experience...
+10 NEW Minor Races using the content above!
+10 NEW Ship Color Schemes!
With this completed, I will likely work on shipset #12, trying to add multiple new pirate factions to the game, custom homeworlds, and customer starbases for the existing races!
Thanks for reading!
Awesome!
Gauntlet, is your mod compatible with the new opt in 1.2?
Thanks!
As far as I can tell the mod is working just fine, havent seen any major issues.
The only files Gauntlet changed are done append style and none of the base files formats seem to have changed drastically so it should be good to go.
Hey guys!
With Version 1.2 Opt-In Available, I finished up GRM 1.3 (I like staying ahead lol) and it is now available for download!!
With this version you get:
10 NEW SHIP PAINT SCHEMES (appearances)
10 NEW MINOR RACES
11 Ship Sets
24 Portraits
29 Backgrounds
20 Logos (recolors mostly)
Here is a new overview video to show off what you can get! Go download it here!

If you love this mod and you haven't endorsed it on the Nexus Site, PLEASE DO SO!
Top.Notch.Mod.
I was really looking forward to this update and the bug race ships, they're super high quality.
Glad it's finally here.
Thanks for your Work so far - your Racemod is really helping filling the insane Maps with proper made Races ,without picking from existing Scifi Universes - which is never an Option for me it just feels wrong.
Just a Question - do you make the Custom Races Pictures yourself or where do you get them ,i am stil looking for a good one for my Custom Race.
I, like most others, don't make them myself. I've collected imagery from a bazillion places, so there is no one answer your question.
Glad they are helping fill those voids! I don't mind other factions from existing universes, but only if I use them with each other, mixing them with races outside of their specific universe does feel a bit off to me.
For those interested, I am working on another update. The agenda is such:
1) 5 additional paint schemes, including one I'm calling "Buck Rogers"2) A new organic ship set using the Dreadlords parts pack from mega events DLC3) A new ship set of retro style rocket/zeppelin looking ships4) Finishing the X series of robo-bugs as a ship set5) Some tweaks and fixes to little errors here and there (some ships have missing thumbnails for example)
So it isn't looking to be a radical update yet. I'm hoping with this next update, to stop needing to update the entire install and start doing individual download packs for future updates that you add to the installation.
Would people like that?
Giving up on the idea of doing custom starbases until the constructor spam/starbase spam issue is resolved. I don't want to have to do re-work if it happens.
Also contemplating a contest giveaway... winner gets some DLC on my dime. More soon!
Your work is without question, top shelf. I always look forward to adding anything you do. Once again thanks for all you excellent efforts.
Yay more stuff!
1) Yes. Yes please.
2) I'd love that, but through my recent thread it seems people without DLCs have the parts stripped away, which sucks, and people might not be willing to see too many gaps in a shipset. Silly system which restricts modding creativity.
3) Definitely! The Fulgar had such a cool style in the way there was this old-timey edge to their otherwise high-tech ships, to have that sort of style gone full retro would be epic. Even if that was one of my shipset ideas
4) Awesome, I had started to presume they got recycled between the Tiamat and Zerhan, glad they're not.
5) Cool. Little fix updates are subtle but useful. Mixed in with a whole new version is especially good.
I am hoping they don't totally redo the starbase system, but at least the xml side of things might change. At any rate I've noticed more and more 'cargo stations' sneaking in, and I'd suggest keeping up making those models or something like them, so you won't need to make them all in one go when your idea has the go-ahead.
Two things I would highly recommend are tweaking the starbase sound (just choose between what's there. I already have the sounds memorised so I can put them on a faction without loading up the game to check; Iridium is liquidy and reminds me of a laboratory, Krynn is spooky, Yor is digital and so on) and secondly the shipyards.
Shipyards are a great thing to change because they're more simplistic than ships, you don't need to animate to make it fit, they require just one model to be added to the shipset, and they're also a huge factor on how different the faction feels. After all you start the game with a shipyard right there.
Edit: When I made my personal race, the Talix Supremacy, I spent like 5 minutes on a huge ship template and set it as shipyard. It's quick and gives a permanent boost to uniqueness.
Anyway, good luck with the new stuff, I have nothing else to say so yeah x3
Adding smaller updates would be cool, especially since I've modified some of your races to use the Galactic Diversity Custom Traits Mod and the Insane-Abundant Balance Mod. Although keeping it as a full reinstall wouldn't really be much of a hassle for me either.
I am using this mod currently in 1.2 and the races are very good.
Thank you.
Thanks everyone, notably, when I said "Would people like that" I just meant, would people like smaller packages! Thanks for the love though!
@JP193, Great minds think alike! And EXTREMELY good point about shipyards. I'll definitely take a stab at that.
Furthermore, I'll make sure the dreadlords parts race/shipset is a separate download, so those without the DLC don't have to worry about it cluttering things. I'll still have to make a 1.4 version though, as I'm making good tweaks to color schemes (texture scaling mostly) and the like. Not to mention I SHOULD re-save every template and reset every shipset naming line to match... because new templates get that shiny colored outline. But we will see lol.
Finished the 5 new color schemes tonight:
Steelclad, new version of Ironclad, slightly darker.
Grey Wave, navy blue and iron grey, blue and yellow lights, pink engines
Buck Rogers, orange and light blue steel, yellow and orange lights, touch of green
Green Sand, Green and green tan with more... green? Its very pale and it will be for a pretty specific race at some point.
and finally... and props to those who get this name...
Blacktron, black and white, with green lights and orange engines.
blacktron = lego??
luv this mod and wouldn't play the game without it .. looking fwd to the next update.
In before Gauntlet says about the Dreadlords part shipset (such a creepy emoticon...) because I was on Nexus seeing if anyone had done one of my ideas already, and noticed GRM had been changed today. Checked it out to see a cool new separate download faction.
I don't want to silence him by saying too much, but it's weird; I expected some evil, hulking imperial creature, ended up with Iconians-meet-Halo's-Flood. Really cool ships though, so nice work!
Also I notice the shipyard being part of it already. Nice. It really works for the shipset too.
Edit: Look below
So the first add-on package is done! This pack requires the Mega Events DLC and version 1.3 of GRM or higher! This is because it uses my custom color scheme GRM Pesticide and the Dreadlords parts from the DLC pack.
Don't forget! If you don't have all the DLC, you could win it from me: https://forums.galciv3.com/470583/page/1/
You can get the add-on pack here:

Here is the ship preview video!
PS: "blacktron = lego??" YUP!
Seriously Awesome work here, brother. This has Really come a long long way. Your animations are killer. Well done.I just got your message about adding this to the compendium yesterday. I let the compendium die a while back when they went ahead and added the sub types to the modding forums as it's redundant now.
Thanks man! Yeah, kinda figured about the compendium. Alls well that ends well.
So notably, progress got slowed a little bit, glad I released the add-on when I did, as then I had to go (and enjoy) some life stuff (weddings/etc.). Still, started making some headyway on the X-ship set, which is going to be rebuilt from scratch.
Ultimately, it relied heavily on custom components, and those components were not saved with the current naming convention, and I can also just do a better job now that I have so much more experience. The story of these guys is also going to be a bit stereotypical, after my surprising friendly fungus people, I figured we deserved some straight-up killer robots.
New video up, a preview of one of the new shipsets for GRM 1.4 this is the redux of the X-Series. So happy its done, time to move on to a retro 50's shipstyle and shipyards for the other races. This race utilizes the new Blacktron color scheme too.

Love the look of the new race and shipset! The insectoid yet inorganic style is something very new. Even in actual Sci-Fi it's hard to come by, since for example in Doctor Who which you draw inspiration from they don't (too) often do organic looking ships.
I've been getting an infinite loading bug or something in my game, even in saves or maps with 0 mods in use, so I'm hoping that gets fixed by the time GRM 1.4 comes out! Miss the game, I need to finish my own races, plus I'm hype for the new races you'll have in store.
