Fixes
Fixed the malevolent Mining Accident colonization event choice (it was giving +50% growth instead of -50%)
Fixed a bad adjacency bonus on the Preparedness Center (it was giving +95% resistance for each level!?!)
Fixed a crash if you hover over an out-of-bounds tile while using the teleport cheat
Fixed the "Win the Campaign" cheat
Fixed an issue causing ships to go off the screen in the battle viewer
Upgraded the version of Miles (the sound system) to fix sound issues and memory leaks
Many multiplayer fixes around lobbies and restored sessions
Fixed an issue where multiple simultaneous invasions would show the wrong info in the results window
Fixed a crash when attacking a planet with two fleets in the same action
Fixed a crash if a transport tried to invade a planet at the same time that it was joining a fleet
Fixed a crash if you fought 2 battles against one defender with spawned fighters and canceled the first battle in the same turn
Fixed an issue that would cause you to not be given ships by ideological events and anomalies if you obsoleted those ship designs in your ship lists
Fixed an issue where the planet keeps spinning in the battle viewer even if the simulation is paused
Fixed an issue where the old minimap border stuck around if you started a game within a game (only noticeable if you changed map sizes between those 2 games)
Fixed lots of typos
Didn't add any new typos!
Fixed an issue with ridiculously wide monitors (we were scoffing at the 3000 x 1080 resolution until we got a monitor to test it on, it looks pretty awesome)
Fixed an issue where you could build infinite resource requiring ships by using continuously build (When a ship is set to continuously build in a shipyard, and it requires a specific resource, it now checks if the player has enough of that resource before building. If not, it gets removed from the shipyard's queue and sends an Alert/Notification to the player to let them know)
Fixed a crash when going from the campaign to a multiplayer game
Fixed a stuck turn when the AI invades 2 planets at the same time
Fixed weekly treaty income not showing up in the production sub window
Fixed an issue allowing the player to get peace with the AI in scenarios (like the campaign) where peace isn't allowed
Fixed the jitterbug (AKA ships no longer wiggle when moving on large maps)
Fixed the Kinetic Accelerator to correctly boost the range of Kinetic weapons
Fixed the Quantum Leap ideological trait (it wasn't applying its +5 research per colony bonus)
Fixed the missing icon for Barrier System Focus
Fixed an issue allowing Food Distribution to be buildable while Xeno Irrigation was already built
Fixed the High Output Mining techs
Fixed the prereqs on the Biomass Resequencer
Fixed an issue where decay wasn't being applied for synthetic life. Decay is the process where population shrinks if you have more people than your population cap supports.
Fixed an issue where if a players faction power got high enough it would overrun and flip to 0, causing the AI to surrender
Fixed an issue where lobbies were only looking within your region for other players (now they look globally)
Balance
AI
General AI strategy improvements
Reduced bonuses given to the AI due to the AI being smarter
Performance
Removed some release level debug
Major late game turn time improvement on large maps (from the AI calculating paths across the entire map for pirates)
how about the 5k rollover and play dead bug?
I don't know if this will fix things, but I believe Brad does have a private build on the Steam Forums - at your own risk.
My main irritation is losing the best run on any gal Civ game i have had so far everything just fell into place and then corrupted saves..... on a retail "ready"release pretty sure i read somewhere that there was a day one patch which never materialised(I may be mistaken)...my term "show Boating" comes from a company i briefly worked for that used the tactic to improve sales and reviews since they followed the "we will fix/solve the issues Soon" tactic and the key word is SOON since it is ambiguous and vague..
and of course you are correct with POE's cyphers (Grieving Mother) were ludicrously OP and needed bringing down from "god" of death status and made the game boring..one of the reasons i started again and consigned Grieving Mother to the strong hold missions....
Fangorm, sure they could release the 1.01 patch early....
.... And then get howls of complaints when it turns out to crash people's games because they didn't finish QA properly. See, that's the problem:
Stardock releases patch early and people complain when it crashes their system
Stardock releases patch after QA and people complain that they want it now.
Damned if they do; damned if they don't.
The reason they release the Patch Notes early isn't to tease us, but to let us know ahead of time what is getting fixed. This isn't that unusual.
I suspect another reason why they let us know ahead of time what has been fixed is that so they don't keep getting reports on what they've already dealt with.
==
In short, the patch will be out this week. Almost certainly, at least. Perhaps as opt-in first to see if there are any stability issues that their own QA didn't catch (they have a finite number of combinations and the larger community having a quite a bit more).
Yes, it sucks that your save game got corrupted, and you have my sympathies on that count. But the patch is coming as soon as Stardock feels it is ready. That they tell us ahead of time what is fixed should be commended. IMO, at least.
disable Steam Cloud, I think it helps with that.
on a retail "ready"release pretty sure i read somewhere that there was a day one patch which never materialised(I may be mistaken)...my term "show Boating" comes from a company i briefly worked for that used the tactic to improve sales and reviews since they followed the "we will fix/solve the issues Soon" tactic and the key word is SOON since it is ambiguous and vague..
When they announce the patch notes, the official release usually follows within a week, and one of the devs said it would be "this week". There was never anything said about a day one patch. But yeah, sadly, the game lacks polish at the moment. Many things should have been there/fixed for the release. While I know they will fix it, I'm still a bit disapointed. But I paid for the beta release of the game, so I am personally unconcerned.
I would like to point out that the release WAS a Day One patch. Techincally at least. The game was getting patched approximately every three to four days or so as the release approached. That they didn't call it a "Day One" patch is neither here nor there. But the game that went out the door last Thursday had seen a patch as recently as that previous Sunday or Monday (I'd have to check to make sure). The game that was released a few days later had a couple of small changes, but they didn't want to muck about with the stability of the Gold Release.
That the game will see it's first "official" patch within a week of release is pretty good, IMO.
maybe i will just avoid recent releases from stardock and any other company for a few years so i don't have to waste time waiting for patches and loosing progress from beta issues...will not be the first time i have avoided something for a few years....
Jeeeeee Opt-in is there!!!
Well, I wouldn't argue against that, for any company. I bought the game on pre-release, and I'm happy I could contribute a little toward (hopefully) solving some issues.
But I understand people paying full price and not getting a game they like. I got tricked by glamorous review into buying Dragon Age: Inquisition, I'll never make that mistake again with any EA game, Bioware be damned.
Anyhow, the patch is now available as an opt-in. See the sticky for instructions.
Well, you could just disband them.
*checks*
So it is. Four days after release.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Damn it, I just checked 30 minutes ago! I was about to get dinner and go to bed. Now I HAVE to download it and kick the tires.
Anyway, looks like there's an opt in for this? Cool? Great, glad we had this chat.
edit; lol late to party
It might be because this is still in opt-in land, but the updated Achievement list is NOT appearing for me on Steam.
The good news is, I did get my Achievement for winning the campaign. I don't know if any of these Achievements will appear in my current game I am playing. I'll update this post/thread if they are.
EDITED: Just won a battle on 1.01 and no Achievement. Guess that's not quite live yet.
Does this fix the 5k surrender issue?
If any of you has more details about the general AI improvement please, tell us!
Clearly you are a mentally challenged. You can opt into the patch right this minute if you want. So quit your complaining.
"FeaturesEnabled Custom Factions in multiplayer (with fixed to make this stable)"
I just downloaded the opt-in and tested the multiplayer.
This is great and all but my buddies still can't see imported custom 1920x1080 pixel leader foreground/background and imported 128x128 leader profile picture and custom faction emblem in multiplayer. All of these show fine in singleplayer and I can see them fine on myself in multiplayer despite my buddies saying that they can only see "X" marks.
I am at least glad that that I can show off my custom designed ships but please make it so that in multiplayer games to share the data/pictures of the My Games/GalCiv3/Factions folder between players so that they can all see our wonderful imported custom alien leader, not to mention Captain Picard, Darth Vader,ect...
Are your friends also using the opt-in?
Very useful & helpful update. Played for 4 hours this evening, with no crashes.
I doubt they will see this stuff. They will have to DL the graphics you are using. It isn't really feasible to have this information shared through the game due to variable internet connections. Some people simply don't have the bandwidth to upload 50-70-100 megs of image data without crushing their connection.
Maybe you did my very impatient friend.
Strangely despite these game breaking and unforgivable issues you are finding, the games doing pretty well with reviewers and on meta-critic, it certainly wasn't perfect at release but I've played no PC game that was in the past 25 years.
I'm managing to have great fun playing it despite some defects, suggest you'd be happier if you learned to enjoy things for what they are in the knowledge that not only bug fixes but new features are coming.
If you can't then yes your probably best finding something else to play and checking back later to be honest.
Again we all know it isn't perfect currently, but the fact is they aren't going to be able to release a major patch every week, so your expectation is unrealistic, this patch is now opt-in and once it's officially live they will move on to the next one.
No amount of jumping up and down will change that.
Sorry to hear about that I can see why that would be frustrating, it's not a problem I've come across in the beta (outside of compatibility of save games across patches) or the release game. But I sympathize as I've had that happen before on another game turned out to be some bad sectors on my disk rather than the game but that didn't make it any less frustrating.
I assume you've run a check on the disk to avoid this happening again.
Probably wise if you lack the patients for dealing with bugs, generally with PC software I'd suggest buying things about a year post release and only from companies like Stardock who have a good record of aftercare in their games.
Moo3 is still almost unplayable and certainly little fun and that's after the mod community actually made a patch to stop it being completely unplayable after quicksilver went bust.
