Here is my small contribution as an appreciation to C.J.Cherryh.
Oxigen Factions
Methane Factions
- currently methane-breathers do use synthetic setup as placeholder
- I'd really recommand to have those 3 methane factions in 1 team for better experience
- as tribute to author's original creation you may avoid any interactions with chaotic Knnn or crazy Chi
- as soon as something like gas planets are playable, those factions get reworked
Download:
(manually dl no longer upgraded, pls use Workshop Collection)
(as a hint: manual files should be placed C:\Users\[YOUR NAME]\Documents\my games\GalCiv3\Factions )
Graphics Complete
Factions Complete
As for Opt-In Version 1.1 the factions are availible in a Workshop Collection.
Cheers!
Some of my other factions you may find at [Mod] custom factions basket
Oh I put these under "Totally Original" on the Compendium. I didn't know the work of C.J.Cherryh was it's own thing. Would you like me to move them into the official Sci-Fi universes?
Thx RavenX, the more diversification the better I'd say.
Well, never seen a movie adopting it, but regarding the books it is a very own Sci-Fi Cherryh universe. Link about in first post.
If it's a book series that qualifies it for a "Official" Sci-Fi Universe . I'll go ahead and move it.
Update:
- added Majat Hive faction (known to be within Alliance shpere of influence)
- added FG, BG, Portraits, Logos, custom setup jpg
Sooner then later I'm reaching the end of oxygen breathing races. Still not sure weather to just bring the methan-breathing factions fast as synthetics or to go for deeper modding to get those methan worlds in the game. I guess I will do synthetics and update them later. Still count on Stardock to bring extreme world starting factions with DLC.
Skukkuk --> Maybe you create another custom race? I miss the race Asgard from the TV show - Stargate. http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Asgard This is a great race My favorite . And great to be complementary with your created races.
Would you be interested in creating Asgard race? I'd be grateful
@Azazell83
Stargate factions do not match the Alliance-Union-Universe background exactly. Anyhow I have some unique creations myself and add them to [Mod] custom factions basket. Made one attempt for your requested Asgard Council, which you could download there.
Oo thank you very much
FYI, I have noticed some cross over from Pierreluc's "New factions for your gaming pleasure" with yours. they are the logos for "Amaut Combine" and "Cyteen Union", and the FG for "Majat Hive". They both play together fine, just a little confusing when selecting starting races if you done remember the names and you are looking at the logo's, and if playing them both in a game when talking with them and the same FG comes up (BG is different). or looking on the map at the planets that have the same logo. I have a massive game going with so many races, I just copied Pierreluc's to races that had the same logos and changed out the logos. No worries, it's all good.
Well, as I'm using graphics and also logos from this side too, this may happen. Feel free to change over for your personal comfort.
@Shukkuk Really like your Factions. good work.
- added T'ca, Chi and Knnn as methane breathing factions
- as the graphics blew up my webspace I decided to rework the whole graphics for smaller packets
- to avoid naming convention issues I copied and renamed all factions
Love some of them so yoinking it, keep up the great work! Also loved the series of books some of these races are based on.
With Opt-In Version 1.1 I added factions in
a Workshop Collection. (Link in first post)
Thank you for your work on this.
Thx to all backers, graphic uploaders and last but not least you players. My faction-mod has more then +3000 hits...quite nice to see and good motivation for bringing some more stuff. Most likely I start a new project or simply add new single factions since Alliance-Union universe has nearly reached the end from what the author has offered. At least I have to wait for Stardock or other modders to bring game mechanism for better integration of methane-breathers or starting a complete conversation with balanced diplomatic structures regarding author's design. First announced DLC might offer ability to create custom maps...
At current I have a ticket running at Stardock regarding multiplayer usability. It is a bit weird, as I could play 'some' of my factions in MP, while others got me hangup while transfering custom faction data. For sure I get hangup if I try to integrate more then one modded custom factions. All factions work on singleplayer, no problem.
Probably I have to delete and re-install complete game as I'm in from Founders Edition and it might have kept old code snippets which may cause it. Also I was informed about, that if you have MP-savegames from before 1.03 which are restored from Steam cloud synchronisation, it may cause the problem. At least Stardock does a good job with patching and upgrading, so they'll surely adress this issue sometimes. Just a bit annoying to me, that I'm not able to setup a complete Alliance-Union MP-game.
Did anybody else encounter problems starting MP with my modded custom factions?
I really want to try this.. but the link to steam workshop just brings up a 'item marked as hidden' page.. 1.1 is live now no? Is there some reason the workshop is still unavailable for this game?
edit.. okay never mind, i see instructions on it now sorry.. lol
- added Caliban Unification (somehow splitt faction of Cyteen Union)
- decided to switch from manual download toward Workshop
Your custom factions don't work it needs to be html and png.
If you might get a little bit more specific, I probably could help.
All graphics are in PNG, the only jpg are the manual download added ones, but not needed, pictures included in first post.
Don't know about any html, sry. If you upgrade game toward version 1.10 you could load all factions with GC3 Steam workshop directly.
Ok I'm combining mods with insane abundant since they only seem to use one mod this time around I put the files in the appropriate mod files as far as I can tell, and it hangs and doesn't seem to start a game. So then I have to remove files to get it to start. The game starts otherwise. If you have advice on what I'm doing wrong then it would be apprepriaciated. I'm using 1.03
Admiral, the Alliance Union factions are not mods. They need to be d/l to your faction folder, not in your mod folder. They work fine for me in the faction folder
Thx Franco fx.
@admiralWillyWilber
As Franco fx explained, faction files should be placed: C:\Users\[YOUR NAME]\Documents\my games\GalCiv3\Factions\ where [YOUR NAME] is your pc's user folder. My own download files are in shape, so you don't need to fill them into the specific folders in Factions folder. Just extract the RAR-file into the mentioned Factions folder. But you could also do copy-paste manually, your choice.
