Nope. Trying to start 2P game CTD on START. Tried many setup combinations.
Ehm....
First starbase setup on 6.1, where's my construction screen???
I keep 'crashing' when attacking a pirate shipyard, I get the battle prompt, then nothing. I can cycle through ships/planets, but cannot continue to the next turn...
Yeah...I got this, too. Can't upgrade my first starbase because there is no screen (have background only, but no cool buttons to press).
UPDATE: I tried verifying my Steam cache and it did download a "missing file" but that didn't work either. The screen IS there (I hear sounds when I click on where the buttons are supposed to be, but there is no display). Will keep hammering away...
UPDATE 2: I received some sort of update in between games...everything works fine now. New loading screens, too!
I've been able to play for a few hours without any crash or obvious bug, so the game is definitely stable on my hardware. on the other hand, after leaving the game, I still had a GalCiv process using 1.7 GB and quite a bit of CPU, so it seems you forgot something in the threads cleaning-up.
A point in the game mechanics: when you colonize a new planet, could it be possible to place manually the colony capital? Most of the times, it seems it is set randomly on an isolated tile, which is a pity considering its bonuses to adjacent tiles.
Great step, I have no problems like you talk about.
I think it was a great job. Sure some polish needs the game already but feels much better than 6.0.
(Current in turn 265, Terran)
6.1 Seems more stable but I found a graphical / lighting issue.
[I found the reason for the odd relic color, I had a bad colordefs.xml.]
1. There's an odd highlight on the delete button in the ship builder.
It get's highlighted on a mouseover
2. Also, the Terran hulls still show the pirate designs and are displaying the underscores in the hull name.
Just want to say that the new load screen looks awesome.
THANK YOU!
For changing the loading screen.
I really didn't like that big ugly Drengin staring at me while the game loaded and I always minimized it until I got that annoying video driver popup.
When I loaded up the game today, I was pleasantly surprised to see a new loading screen that I like SO MUCH BETTER!
The new Alterian vs. Drengin loading screen looks awesome and I really appreciate that you replaced the old one.
New load screen: Elves vs Orcs.
i like the new load screen but the game crashes right after the intro video
I've been getting more CTD since 6.1 was reloaded last night/this morning. Got one when upgrading a star base, and one when just turning but the turn came after a pirate encounter.
As my games get to over 300 turns, I am getting severe lag issues. I don't know what the NPCs are doing but they seem to have hundreds of ships and starbases. I don't even have many ships moving around, but I end up waiting for several minutes between turns. I just lost a game because my PC keeps thinking the program is not responding and it closed the game.
My PC isn't even that bad. I have a Core I5-3570K overclocked to 4.2 gigs (liquid cooled), a 2GB Radeon HD 7870 video card and 16GB of DDR2 1333 RAM.
I really don't think I should be lagging as bad as I am right now. I really hope you can "optimize" the game so the turns don't take so long.
Galaxy size is on immense with 5 NPC races and no minors all on medium settings.
It's the constant use of pagefile that bogs the game down on large maps. Have 16GB ram as well, the game barely uses 3GB or so now (down from 4GB+ in the previous betas). But it keeps grinding and grinding my HDD. Guess I will have to give up and move it to the SSD at some point
I think I found the problem. The NPCs on medium difficulty build hundreds of really ineffective ships and they also build starbases everywhere.
I would prefer that the NPCs do a little more research first and build fewer ships that are more of a challenge.
In my most recent game, the Terran NPC who spawned next to me built a whole bunch of starbases inside my territory. He claimed half of my resources before I had a chance to. I ended up having to buy them from him, because I wasn't ready to go to war yet. When I would open the diplomacy window to trade with him, I had to scroll through a huge list of starbases. He had built way more starbases than he needed and I think the other NPCs are also doing this.
If the NPCs built fewer ships and less starbases, that would really reduce the long wait times that occur in longer games.
