With the word "Yor" in all of the buildings, such as "Yor Manufacture" etc. etc. and "Yor Research" in the actual building names and research tree, it makes that particular tech tree very unfriendly towards creating custom races.
For example. I have made a race that is a synergy of energy and souls. Basically a lost race that lives on through being energy, therefore they are "synthetic" and don't use food. So I used the Yor tech tree which favors that the most.
However, all buildings say "Yor" in it, as well as some tech nodes etc. that breaks the immersion and uniqueness of my custom race, and any others that would like to be synthetic without the use of food, etc. and play similar to the Yor.
Yeah that sounds like an oversight, I don't know why that would be there, its like its been just shoved in just because. It would be good to remove it.
It's like that in all tech trees. The buildings or techs have names of the race. Even when playing as a custom race with Altarian tech tree. The tech robot saids something about Altarians.
When playing as a custom race the names of other races' techs/buildings should change to the name of your own custom race.
There are two solutions to this;
1) taking all race name references out of tech names and improvement names.
2) Tokenise them with tags such as [RaceName] .
I think the later is better because it creates the possibility for richer description.
Of course it's only an issue for in game custom races, modders can just change the name themselves in the XML.
This is likley to be something they look at post release it at all though I would think.
Yes i agree, they should replace the race name with that of the race you are using. It really kill the immersion when you play a custom race and find the wrong names.
I didn't think of this but you're right. removing all the names and replacing them with [racename] would be much better. It then wouldn't require much in the way of change.
