The official release date has been announced: Galactic Civilizations III launches on May 14, 2015.
Stardock is extremely pleased to welcome everyone to the beginning of a long and glorious era of space-conquering excellence. Whether you prevail through diplomacy, cultural supremacy, scientific research, or the more traditional "crush all rivals with extreme force" method, Galactic Civilizations III gives you the tools to remake the galaxy in whatever image you desire.
We humbly thank all of our Founders and beta players for their support and for their ongoing help in making Galactic Civilizations III the best game it can be.
The end of beta is nearly upon us, but the future in store for space emperors everywhere is full of possibilities.
Yes award for most copies bought, as I say don't get me wrong I think they promise multiplayer so they owe people stable multiplayer and should not release until it's working whenever that is.
I agree multiplayer needs to be stable. I think it will be. By May 14th, I don't know. I also agree that releasing with it unstable will lead to some bad press. I have faith that regardless of an official release date I will be playing long multiplayer insane sized games at some point. My biggest concern with that is needing a planet killer to minimize late game management of new unwanted planets. Thats sort of off topic though. All in all If i never played another minute I'd already have gotten more then my monies worth. I know I'll be playing this for years just like the others.
I'd like planet killers in the game just because they are fun loved them in MOO2 late game. Well one day maybe.
This was answer in last weeks stream. I think Brad said with the release of a major DLC or expansion pack around August give or take ...........!
Workshop will be in the first (major) patch - ie. ver 1.1 - as has been stated in the last few dozen dev streams, and numerous times on the forums
Yes workshop integration will be the first major patch they said which will focus on mod ding improvements. You won't have to buy it as dlc or an expansion they alway intended workshop integration.
to be fair, multiplayer was requested by alot of fans back in GC2 times as well
I am a long-time fan of the series and I've been waiting since the first one for a real multiplayer experience and as such, won't be playing the darn thing until it's stable enough to at least get ten turns in without it diving out to desktop. Just my two cents, but it seems like many people here are underestimating just how many people have been wanting a solid multiplayer GalCiv game, and how disappointed they'll be if the thing releases before it's good and solid.
Long time fans of the series should know that GalCiv isn't really a multi-player game. SD is adding it to shut people up, but I hope they don't spend that much time on it.
I have the utmost confidence in Stardock, one of the few companies that actually handle their age with dignity. In our day and age, that is close enough to divinity. Still time for the Seven Deadly Sins until release though. One for each day! He he.
I hope that once MP is succesfully installed that the game will see further improvements through future upgrades, and I further hope that these won't break MP. There must be a way to integrate upgrades without imposing further bugs or nuissances into the game (which actually happened in GC2). I have absolutely no idea of your internal ways of controlling this but you've got a dedicated community at large which is hellbent on testing out any possible coedechanges in their sparetime!
pffff a successful company such as SD will never be as ignorant as to "shut people up" but instead try to satisfy customer needs. in reality it's a simple equation of being able to make profit from additional customers by adding additional content. and if I see a poster that already bought 5 copies instead of 1 then, IMO, they probably will be very positive on that.
I return just to marvel at the Drengin Torture Device up at the top of the forums. The one that ticks down very slowly! It is a most effective little instrument, such measured and timely agony, it makes the journey through every passing moment, very vibrant and exquisite! I salute such ingenuity, for it is a wonder of pain, mixed with a tiny bit of pleasure! Send my regards to the architect!
