Playing today's Beta 5, opt-in patch 2 as the Iridium. I've played a few times in the beta, but not made too many comments. Here's a list of issues I encountered today, as well as a few quality of life suggestions.I know several of these have been noted before, but I wanted to chime in too.
Bugs:--Iridium start with 2 trade routes, but cannot build a freighter until the first trade tech is researched
--If you colonize two planets in the same turn with ships on auto-move (the ships arrive at both the planets before the colonize event appears), then you see the first colonize event pop-up, but not the second.
--Updating the planet specific Govern setting (Manuf/Wealth/Research) does not update completion time of improvements that are already in the queue (until you exit the screen).
--Shipyard: I ended up with "6/5" sponsors. I believe this was because the shipyard already had 5 sponsors, and then I colonized the "Mars" planet in the system which was really close to the shipyard: it then auto-sponsored the shipyard.
--Starbase requesting constructors: I thought the idea was that any specific ships added to the shipyard queue after a starbase has requested constructors would be added to the top of the queue. This did not happen for me. A possible confounding event: One (out of three) requested constructors had already been sent and arrived, however I "passed" and ejected the constructor to send it elsewhere.
--Combat: 5 ships versus a single starbase. Despite what the combat viewer showed (including destruction of some of the ships), at the end I had all 5 ships left, at perfect health. I may have to go reload the savegame to really get the details of this one, but I know that something was goofy.
--Rally Points: ships are not visible (hidden under the rally point icon), and also cannot be moved. I had to move the rally point to be able to give the fleet commands.
Minor Bugs:--Lantern minor race's leader is named "DL Bradley"!
--the sound would get crackly on the Diplomatic screen, but I haven't had any issues on other screens or in general
Quality of Life--Ala Endless Space, it would be nice to be able to exit a screen simply by right-clicking on non-interactive portions of the screen.
--Colonize event screen should list the planet name and it should be prominent. I have seen some suggestions of also including the planet position... perhaps with the minimap? How about a button that let's us delay the colonize event until we've looked at the map!
-Starbases--Economic ring adds a bonus to Production (not to be confused with manufacturing). Where on the planet screen can I see that the planet has this bonus?
--Using the schafer button (or tabbing to the next event) to take care of an idle colony: would be nice if the map scrolled to the planet and gave you a second to see what it was, and where, before auto-opening the main planet screen. Often I am not sure where the planet was, which of course helps clue the player to what it needs.
-Tech Tree--On the initial screen, double clicking on a tech will select it and close the screen. It would be nice if the same were true when looking at the full tech tree--Double clicking on one of the 4 category icons (like Weapons, Colonizing, Economy, etc) should open the full tech tree--As mentioned many times before, enable a toggle to go directly to the full tech tree if the player wants
--Planetary Governors: I know these are not in yet, but I have high hopes that you will be able to (at least) select the Governor from the "Colonies" management screen (accessed through the main Govern screen) and/or directly access the planet specific economy wheel from this list.
I heard the same thing but not only confined to the diplomacy screen. Had it happen on the Planet UI after flipping an Iconian world.
likewise. thought it was my computer till i saw this
With the new version I do get more realistic trade offers (before I sometimes get one where the give me a resource without anything back) but if I alter the trade by adding several technologies the game always crashes.
In fact if a try to trade technologies and most likely other stuff too the game crashes if I add to much.
But for the rest I like the improvements! Its a huge improvement.
But I do would like to see some change in the battles, if I bring a fleet into battle or get attacked, I would have the option to bring the undamaged to the front and the damaged ships to the back. That way they have a better survival change. To be honest I would like it in general if I could have more options of controlling the battle, I could think that a possibility of giving that unarmed ship orders to flee while the the other ships fight of the enemy would give it a different dynamic. Of course it would depend on the speed of the (remaining) ships what the odds are...
Also I have trouble with the damaged ships in general, I would expect some way of repairing them faster, like bring them to a shipyard and get a repair function just like the upgrade function on ships. And with upgrading it would be nice if the is a possibility to do this in the shipyard as well, of course in stead of building new ships, the price of upgrading is most of the time simply to high..
I tried some stuff (after several crashes) but it seems to go wrong when I select the technology "Targeting support" with trading tech. Other technologies doesn't seem to be a problem. At first I thought it was the number of technologies, but the last crash was with that specific technology as second selected while just before I traded a lot more technologies.
Same with the crackly sound, dislike it.
Performance wise- game seems to run more sluggishly than the previous beta. Unsure why, maybe the optimization changes?
Whenever I get the "colonize" screen, I click cancel to check on what planet I'm at and this can indeed be done a lot smoother and faster. When the confirmation pops up, I'd not only like to see the planets location on a minimap or a zoomed out map, but I'd also like to see the statistics of the planet listed. What plan you choose for the planet (benevolent, pragmatic, malevolent) depends on the main characteristics. So: the planet class and the characteristics should be listed in the confirmation screen, along with the location on the map.
Then, it'd be nice to have both those things repeated in the path selection screen. Perhaps left of the three options you can choose.
While we're at locations of things anyway, how can I check the homeworld of minor civilizations. I've met a few and I can't find their worlds back. I also haven't found all worlds, but I'd like to find out where they. Perhaps an option that allows you to cycle through discovered planets of other factions, that can be filtered by faction of course. I'd have to think of a suitable position in the user interface though, because we wouldn't want to add some random clutter...
Bug--
Survey ship arrive at anomaly where pirates are active. I click to auto resolve battle and after that turn button become grey, nothing happens. After hitting enter , game goes to permanent wait.
For some of these issues if they are reproducable I'd recommend creating a support ticket with the saved game and detailed instructions on how to reproduce so they can fix the issues.
For support where examining saves is required, names of ships, planets and starbases, etc, are extremely helpful in their attempts to reproduce the issue.

Had exact same problem, Reloaded autosave and repeated the attach, worked fine the second time. Unfortunately the i think the dump was over ridden.
Sometime it works for me, sometimes it doesn't but it isn't only the colonization events. Multiple diplomacy windows at the start of the turn cause the same problem, whether its meeting new races or receiving trade offers. IMO they shouldn't have things take over your screen like that. A dialogue box popping up so you can work through them one at a time would be best.
Edit: IMO The star base upgrade screen should be included in this as well. That way if you need to look at a planets traits/size or a star bases location you could. This becomes a big issue on the larger map sizes. Ideally the dialogue box would take you to the location in question when it gets to the top.
I think perhaps the thing that was goofy was me. I reloaded my save just before the battle and could not re-produce. Good for the game, maybe not so good for my brain.
I just noticed that although you can't add ships to the queue if they require a resource you've run out of if the shipyard is set to make the ship until further notice it will continue to build the ship. You're resource count then goes negative.

Note that the Stardock Support tool has an issue with large files. I have been unable to upload save games in the last three beta versions: files are too large resulting in two error messages and a (repeating) request to try again.
Please zip files to compress to less than 500 mb. Should the files be larger than that, attempt to upload 1 at a time or post on a file share site with link in your ticket.
you can zip any file folder in windows by placing the files that you wish to send in a separate folder, right click on folder, click send to, compressed zip folder.
Moved to support.
