I use three monitors. I frequently switch between nVidia Surround mode (5760x1200) and "normal" mode ( 3 monitors @ 1920x1200 each). Fences treats each mode as a different configuration/arrangement.
Although I can use snapshots to re-arrange the Fences in each mode. it is a pain to have to Configure Fences and find the correct snapshot to use. Would it be possible for Fences to detect different monitor set ups and apply a default layout/snapshot/last used layout for each of the Surround and "normal" modes? And/or perhaps assign shortcut keys to multiple snapshots?
At the moment it's a pain to have to manually reset Fences when switching between nVidia Surround and "normal" display with 3 monitors.
Thanks
Have you used these settings: http://sd.stardock.com/brad.ather/Jingimages/2015-01-29_1308.png
Yes. I have that setting set as the example.
When I switch from "normal" 3xseparate monitors (with fences on each monitor) to surround mode, all the fences get scaled across the (now) single desktop which means scales across all three screens. If I do nothing and revert to the 3 x separate monitor mode, the fences do return to their correct size and position on the three monitors. However, if whilst in surround mode I arrange the fences (from a snapshot) to display correctly on the 5760x1200 single desktop, and then switch to the 3 x separate display mode, the fences are screwed up and get put on a single monitor which is not my primary monitor. I then have to restore the other snapshot to get the fences to display on the 3 monitors.

As you explain it, that sounds like Fences is acting as it should. You didn't change the Fences at the surround resolution, so it maintained where it should be when you returned to 3 monitors. But when you changed the Fences in the surround resolution and reverted back to 3 monitors, the fences were then acting accordingly.
What I'm seeing is, you set the Fences for 1 resolution/monitor, but then change it to be 3 different resolutions/monitors expecting it to act like it was set for 3 different resolutions/monitors, but it can't because it's already set for 1 resolution/monitor. The options for preserving the layout on a per-screen-resolution basis works if the resolution stays, but can't if it's changing.
I'm not sure of a solution for you since you do change back and forth between the resolutions. Aside from keeping the 3 monitor layout and then not changing it while in surround, that's all I think you could do.
If Fences could detect the different Surround vs Separate and associate a layout/snapshot that would be ideal. Or assign shortcut keystrokes to a snapshot name.
That is an excellent suggestion that I will pass along. I agree it would be a nice feature since the increase in using multiple monitors is becoming more common place.
I wholeheartedly second the motion for this fix to be implemented. I too tried the settings shown, to no avail. You're right, there are people starting to use mutilple monitors. It really is a PITA to have to keep moving fences around. My alternative is to hide them (double click desktop) until I'm out of surround mode.
