Glad I don't use Firefox any more! Seems like every time they put an update out, it screws up Windowblinds. Stardock fixes the issue the best they can, and then the cycle repeats itself. Personally I would be yelling at Mozilla, not Stardock.
There is no one to blame for. Windowblinds is complementary software, whereas Firefox is browser which has to implement the newest scripts/codes that websites owned, otherwise it will be outpaced/abandoned in the market.
On the GUI part, not only FF,so has Chrome the same quirks that try to wow users but put snags at Windowblinds.
I found a solution for Firefox -- in the Options > General > General tab, uncheck the "Use Hardware acceleration when available." Then the program can be skinned without issues. At least, this works for me.
Works for me as well. It's becoming increasingly difficult to remember all of the various fixes for firefox, just to get it to play nice with windowblinds....
What graphics cards do you have as FireFox should be skinning just fine with out of the box settings on any DirectX11 capable graphics card.
If you are getting crashes with FireFox, check if you are using any tweaker apps which might force DirectX settings on games etc as they are prone to causing problems like this.
I'm using just the on-board Intel Graphics HD with an Intel Core I7-4770 CPU @ 3.4 GHz.
Also - now Windowblinds is not loading when I log in, instead I am seeing the Windows Classic crap, not even aero.
My laptop has Intel HD graphics for regular desktop apps, and an nVidia 860GTX for games. Perhaps forcing Firefox to use the nVidia would make it work using hardware acceleration, but would drain the battery faster. I'll take longer battery life.
I have a Windows 8.1 machine running an ATI Radeon HD 7850 and firefox 35 crashes immediately on load while Windowblinds is installed. If I go into Firefox's options via safe mode and disable hardware acceleration for Firefox, it no longer crashes. It seems however, that without hardware acceleration enabled, the title bar and min/max/close buttons are all transparent just like they were before this most recent windowblinds update.
We have an update internally which assuming it passes QA testing should resolve the Firefox 35 issue.
This must drive you guys nuts. BTW just for information purposes, FF 36 BETA exhibits exactly the same behavior regarding WindowBlinds as does FF 35. So MAYBE, there will be a short respite from the issues.
Hi,
Great tip! My Firefox is working very well now! Thank you very much.
I found this answer here on the wincustomize forums: "In the Options > General > General tab, uncheck the "Use Hardware acceleration when available."
Now, my Firefox is working normally.
Still holding out for the fix for this. Firefox runs poorly with the hardware acceleration turned off, so I'd like to switch it back on. I can't until this windowblinds issue is resolved.
There's a new update in Object Desktop Manager 8.095(beta). It doesn't say what was updated in the change log. I'm waiting for others to install to see if there are any side effects.
The latest version 8.095(beta) didn't fix firefox 36 for me at all. Same crash at startup.
uncheck the "Use Hardware acceleration when available." do not fix it either.
Back to v 1.06 and Everything works fine again.
Sometimes I wonder about discussions in the Firefox dev boardroom...
"Yo...I see Neil's got Windowblinds working happily with Firefox Version X ......"
"Yep, it's time to release Version Y ......"
Please uninstall, reboot and reinstall.
Having checked here FireFox 36 is working just fine. From the sounds of it key files were not replaced when you installed 8.095.

I've done that 2 times. Same.
Any word on when the new beta will be available? Thank you.
8.095 beta is currently available
Confirmed that the latest beta does fix the Firefox issue. However, Thunderbird's titlebar is now broken.
Oh, I really didn't see an "announcement" that it was released. So, I didn't know. I can confirm that Thunderbird's titlebar is now "broken" with the latest beta.
I have done that. Clean install of firefox 36.0.1 and now the menu text and the text inside firefox is all blurry. (not the websites)
just the text in menu, etc.
Disable Use Hardware acceleration when available. does not fix it.
Tried all the stardock skins. Tried unloaded WB doesnt help either.
When completely uninstalled windowblinds 8.095 then firefox is all good again.

Blurry text sounds like your video drivers may be applying some very poor quality antialiasing like effect. This is often a problem with NVidia drivers and their FXAA modes which end up applying on non games too.
