Can someone explain to me the mechanics behind catapults dodging? A catapult dodged 4 initial attacks (not subsequent mauls) from my cave bear.
Am I the only one who thinks that catapults should have a massive dodge penalty, if not a complete inability to dodge?
What difficulty? All units have a dodge bonus on expert and higher.
Was the cave bear blinded? His accuracy might have been reduced.
Also, any attack has a 3% chance to miss. It will say 'dodged,' not missed. If this keeps up, there's someting else involved, but it could have been extremely bad luck.
Catapults cannot dodge, but their attackers can miss them. The chance to hit is only one roll, (Attacker's accuracy - defender's dodge) and the developers decided to display the miss/dodge result as 'dodged'.
Unless the Cave Bear's chance to hit is near 97%, I would say missing 4x is rare, but nothing exceptional.
Oops ignore this
It is a fantasy game... maybe they are enchanted catapults?
Oh, such things are very much possible. I remember returning from a pub crawl once, everything was sort of a blur, and I made a lunge against the keyhole with my trusty key, but the door dodged it and I fell down the stairs. Vicious things, those so called inanimate objects.
Thank you kamam, i lol'd. As for dodging four times in a row, i had a troll dodge 4 times in a roll at 97% chance. Luckiest darn troll I ever came across and nothing was wrong with the unit... Unless it was like kamam and had a few too many at the pub the night before.
