It's that time of week again! Paul and I will be rocking out with our internal builds out (...yeah, sorry about that one, that was terrible) this afternoon. Join us on the official Stardock Twitch.tv channel to see that latest in Galactic Civilizations III development and ask Paul your burning questions about burning down the galaxy and/or fiddling.
This week we've got a build that looks an awful lot like what we'll be getting into your hands as the official BETA version later this month. We couldn't be more excited. So ask us about it live on the stream, and Paul will almost certainly talk your ears off.
As always, drop your questions in the thread here if you can't make the stream. Sorry for the short notice; I was sick yesterday and been playing catch-up this morning. Operation Graceful Balding is behind schedule too (or is that ahead of schedule? In any case, )
Catch up on previous episodes on the Stardock YouTube channel, or swing by there later when I get today's stream published on that platform as well. Google may be buying Twitch, but the two platforms are still quite separate for the time being.
See you on the stream, and thanks for watching!
edit: we're up on YouTube.
An issue that came up with custom races in GC2: is there any plan to address one-off buildings for races sharing a tech tree? For instance, if I played a custom race using the Thalan tree, I had to make sure no other race in the game used the same tree or I wouldn't be able to build a Hyperion Matrix - the AI player went first and rush bought it the first turn, so the building was unavailable before I even had a chance to go. Other races had similar issues with early buildings.
In GC2 it was avoidable even on large maps because you could fill the map with races while never having a tech tree repeat. That won't be an option if you want to fill a GC3 map.
Glad to hear that.
Agreed. I'd really like to hear more about the art, music, and, especially, the writing.
Death Furnaces are still in the game but being moved over to the Ideologies. Ill let you guess which one.
That's good to hear, but I'm not quite certain what to think about moving the Death Furnaces to the Ideologies.
On the one hand, the move make sense. Any malevolent race with a basic understanding of Dark Energy could come up with such an improvement. The Altarians, strangely enough, would probably have the easiest time, due to their innate ability to manipulate Dark Energy. On the other hand, the Death Furnaces have always been something unique to the Drengin. Giving the other races "easy" access to them feels weird to me, because it goes against the previously established lore.
Will there be negative race bonuses for custom races? ie. economical -2, clever -1, influential -2. Lot's of people like to min/max or specialize.
Perhaps that's a hint toward race-specific Ideology choices? Not to the same degree as tech trees, but a few replacement choices that fit better into each race's tech tree?
That's good to hear. My main concern is about ones available on turn 1. Or even turn 10.
Okay! I love the GalCiv3 Alpha right now. That's good idea for the GalCiv3's Tech Tree in this game, but sometimes getting up the starbases and starports the galaxy.
I love Adam Tuesday. I'm sure that would love the chance to show on there specialties.
However, when will the Winx Club is are in GalCiv3?
When I shoot them out of my torpedo tubes into the cold, dark, vacuum of space.....(sorry did I say that out loud?)
Haven't had time to ask or watch the stream yet, any news on the ship battles for beta?
