Arguably the biggest patch to date for Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes is now available for opt-in beta testing. Frogboy has made huge improvement to many areas of the AI, Commanders get new class-specific items, rival sovereigns are a lot chattier, and balance has gotten a hard look across the board.

LH 1.7, like all of Stardock's patches, will be free for everyone who has purchased the game.
Steam should automatically download the update.
Note that saved games from previous patches will probably work with the 1.7 beta, but will be missing many of the balance changes. Start a new game to check out LH 1.7 the way it's meant to be played.
Please report any bugs or other issues you encounter to the LH Support forum so that we can make the 1.7 release the best it can be.

Played for 25 mins. Unfortunately I spawned int the middle of nowhere with no expansions so I ended up quitting before anything really happened.
Rivers no longer take one turn to cross. I'm willing to guess this isn't intended.

That's too bad. I really liked that rivers stopped movement.
That's weird... i never had issues with rivers ;( Well now that I know they're no longer a natural barricade to speedy ambushes i will have to plan for it with my cities with sudden disappearance of rivers.
On the plusside, the AI now raze their outposts if I am about to capture them I think..Not sure if monsters smashed it or not.
Not sure if this is the correct location for this, but I have been writing up my regular game comments. It is my hope that Stardock can use these notes to help balance and polish v1.7 beta prior to it's release.

While some of the items can easily be fixed, as modders have already done so, there are many players that simply do not play with mods. As a result, would it not benefit the game to have as much included in the base version as possible so as to make the players experience as good as possible? In addition, have additional items in the custom sovereign design, even though the existing characters do not have the abilities, would only add to replayability of the game.

Isn't monster den supposed to exert an 1 tile ZOC where settlement isn't allowed within 1.6 patch?
Ahh okay..
I was a bit disappointed to see that random monsters still appear to be ignoring the AI. They still attack me with vigor but the AI can sit next to a strong monster for two turns with only 2 in their medium army and the AI ignores them... This is on a random large map with 6 enemies set to hard.
I agree. Likewise, the mana cost to the Pariden ability Soul Spark should also be eliminated and/or the ability should be redesigned. I never use this ability.
You might want to post this in the changelog as well...

This annoys me to no end. It's part of what keeps FE:LH from being a true masterpiece. I'm still baffled as to how this hasn't been fixed.
The thing about that is that the AI monsters don't have any code for knowing the difference between a human and another AI player. It's not picking on the human player.
I suspect skynet secretly plays FE:LH.
I've always thought it was a by-product of simultaneous turns. Monster goes to attack at same time AI is moving, swing and a miss! Same with AI vs AI battles. Any code to prevent this?

Hmmm, not sure I totally understand what you're doing there. Yes, I can be slow at times...
Basically I managed to pull off the simultaneous movement that AI does all teh time to avoid being killed by monsters
That Darkling army tried to kill my mage in blue circle which was the pillaged encampment.. but they failed cuz I moved it fast enough.
One more thing.. has the wildlands been really made tougher? Ais having no trouble clearing them on expert difficulty.
