Are the other races scheduled to be added before beta?

"When they have enough art" seems more appropriate then "When they're ready" at this time, unless you consider the current races ready. There is probably not much reason to have races at all until balance becomes a serious concern, aka beta. maybe we get some new shiny art before that, maybe they won't be in the beta until several patches in. I just want a ballpark estimate of how far along they are.
with the ship yard starport or what ever we are calling it??,... what will be built by the planets if any ships once the starport are introduce?
will the planets have rings later on and will the rings be able to tilt axles like the planets ? and will planets have more the one moon?
Well since I'm stuck at work during the live stream tomorrow my two major questions are this.
1.Ship AI
This really concerns me for assigning roles to my ships in the fleet. Let’s say for an example I have two ships. One is a tiny hull with lasers that focus on accuracy rather than firepower. (a fighter role)The other is a tiny hull with missiles designed to be high yield but not accurate against tiny ships. (a bomber role)
Now my opponent has a tiny hull with lasers that focus on accuracy rather than firepower. (a fighter role) Now his other ship is a large hull ship focusing on attacking other large and bigger class ships. (a battleship more or less)
I’m worried in ship combat my tiny fighters will focus on attacking the large battleship doing almost no damage while my bombers try to chase down the opponents fighters and not land a single shot. How is the AI being developed to address a situation like this?
2.Escape
Ok, everyone knows sometimes it’s best to turn tale and run. Masters of Orion 2 and Star Wars Empire at war both did a good job at allowing the players to turn tale and run. Sometimes, it just not worth fighting to the last man. Also for an empire that focusing on tiny craft it might be best to do a lot of hit and run attacks to wear down an enemy. Allowing a player to escape in battle would also encourage new technology such as ships that slow down or prevent escape. (Think the Imperial Interdictor star ship)
I'd like to know who is going to be modeling the asteroid thong that Derek mentioned in the release notes thread? Trying to imagine who it would look better on... Paul? His dog? Curious minds and all...
I suspect you were not serious with this post, but the implication we were supposed to pick up is that the new build will be released before the next dev stream occurs.
I can't wait for the stream!!! I got a couple questions:
Do you have any plans for moons? I see them orbiting the planets and wonder if one day they could be colonized or used for some other purpose.
When can we expect to see the minor races? Will they be animated or still pictures like GalCiv2? Will they have their own ship designs?

+1 for moons. I want every element in my GalCiv games to have some purpose. No eye candy!

Not the lame kind in Galactic Civilizations 2, but the full, balls-to-the-wall "let's turn this place into a glass parking lot" kind.

Was the planet liquefied? Liquefaction is my standard.
wait, first you wanted to merely make the planet uninhabitable by destroying the surface and burning off the atmosphere, now you want to liquefy the entire thing? big difference in how determined you are there man.
Liquefaction seems a interesting concept, as it would require close to the amount of energy needed to blow up the planet, but delivered over a much longer period of time. Is it even possible to liquefy the solid core of a planet without destroying the thing? Where is my iron phase diagram. Do elaborate on your plans for this.
Oh it's not complete liquefaction. I'll settle for the crust turning into magma for a week or so.
I intend to bomb the surface mercilessly with lasers, mass drivers and plasma for several weeks, or at least until the onslaught penetrates the outer crust and allows the mantle to seep through to the surface. Hopefully this ecological catastrophe, sabotage of the planet's plate tectonics and evaporation of the atmosphere and surface water eliminates all hope of recovery without artificial intervention. One can dream right?
