Well, I started a thread back in Dec 2011 that’s seen a lot of activity (some 922,000 views over the course of a few years apparently...). That thread had a good deal of tips/strategies/discussions about League of Legends from new and old players alike. What’s this thread all about?For those that followed the previous thread, the type of content you see here will be fairly consistent to what you are used to. Please consider this a place to discuss LoL related content as you like. I'll do the same and treat the thread as a blog as well where I talk about what’s going on with me in LoL. Feel free to jump in and join the discussion if you like.
Quick background on meI played a lot of Demigod as pacov/cheesuscrust. Back in August 2011, I started getting heavily involved in League of Legends, and folks from the community were kind enough to help me figure things out. I play LoL most nights, stream, make videos and it’s my main gaming interest.

Ive been having a fun time playing the Ice Queen Sejuani. Ive been finding it easy to lane with rather it be top or mid. Against some champs its hard at first but it doesnt take much gold to get strong with her. I saw out of all of us i have the highest win %. Haha thats all with sejuani!

fun fact - you can be a member of up to 3 clubs (owning 1, a member of 2 others or just a member of 3). You can choose which tag you want to show. Main benefit of clubs is persistent chat (functions like this forum - just smaller posts).

played exactly 3 games with boaz on my main - demoted instantly to plat IV.
Actually kind of weird, jokes aside. I hit plat 3 - think I played like 1-3 games total - 2 win 1 loss... something like that. Tonight i fire it back up, get exactly 3 losses in a row. Instant demote to plat IV. Kind of weird. Not sure why though. Maybe mmr was low... but still. I was playing a bunch solo on my main - not influenced by lower gold folks etc... yet pretty severe. Guess I don't super care, but it kind of blew. Back on my main though for a bit now I think - no more silvers with folks I'm playing w and I already did all the OCD stuff for chests on my alt. Oh... did get promoted to plat on my alt. dodged 2 matches of my promo series... then was like fug it - play on alt for fun - prob not keeping it lower mmr so I just need to tough it out and get good in other roles.

Yeah any sort of loss streak when you are at zero LP is dangerous. I demoted out of Diamond III back to 4 last season like that. That is kind of when I gave up on climbing. I also demoted back to diamond V several times in similar situations. I know Dan had a lot of demotions and promotions last season as well.
Yeah - guessing its a lot mmr then. Just never had experienced before. Sitting at 95lp in plat 4, so hopefully i can get demoted to gold 1 tonight.
The adventures of hypee leona with heal and fervor of battle jhin. Probably going to do a series. Poor soupcup though. hypee (not boozed at all on St Pats day I'm sure) leona just leaves lane when she gets bored. But she likes to party. If there's a throw down to be had, let's go. I think I'll try to be a smidge more support oriented next time... .
Anyway, looking forward to nerding later and not getting any key shards.
Rito spells out exactly that you can get key shards on ARAMs. Everyone I've asked and talked to about it except for 1 goof, says they haven't gotten a single shard there. Which makes me think the one goof is wrong. Unless one of you gets a key shard there, I'm just going to not bother with aram with my crafting goals
Well - looks like I was right - rito confirms that if champion mastery isn't enabled for a queue, then there are no loot drops. They did say that champion mastery is in development for ARAM at least. So, bottom line, no key drops for now... unless something is wrong.
They indicated that the rotating game mode queue has been prioritized for champion mastery 1st, then they are looking to do twisted tree line and ARAM potentially at the same time. I'm guessing they are trying to decide and then implement what the regards system should be like, etc.

So... I had a really bad night playing league... started with trollcov, hunny, and the bouche... and that was ok... but i played more and every single game (besides one where i was adc) i had the worst teammates or team comp possible. That being said... i'm 1-8 in placements and it's whatever... i don't care too much, but I'm just wondering if you dodge during champ select is it still considered a loss like it used to? I had almost the same terrible AD team comps twice in a row last night (xin jungle, yi/trynd top, yasuo mid, jin/kog adc, and I was leona both games), and I would have dodged if I wasn't going to get a loss out of it. Enlighten me if it's still penalized or not.
So what happened to the honor system? I ran into the first person I have seen with a ribbon in months the other day. It is a pretty cool system. I wish Riot would make a post about or something to get people back into honoring. I usually honor teammates whenever I win a game in ranked.
IDK re: the honor system. Seems like it needs reworked and its kind of wonky. For instance, as I understood it, folks like you that would give out honor often have less value in their feedback than if someone only gave it out once in awhile... and the weight of your honor vote means less if other folks report the same fellas, etc. And some could get honor ribbons early on if their pals just spammed hooked each other up.
What I really think they should do is create an MVP system. That fells good anyway.
Let's see... I've been demoted twice now. Currently in a series to undo one of those demotions. Games have been feeling more difficult here and there. Also decided my leona needs some work.
I hope it's revised some time this year. It was another fun thing to try to achieve but now feels impossible to get. Mao's winnrate is super low So maybe it's just me but I am like 7-0 with him in ranked and I have never felt like I have lost lane yet (had some rough games from getting ganked but nothing where I was completely useless or unable to 1v1 the other top laner).
The more and more I play top the more I feel like Sunfire cap is extremely strong. Check it out if you haven't been building it lately.
I think mao is just you. I don't think he's particularly strong, but if you use him well, that's just another tank that provides cc - and dmg reduction.

Uh oh. Maybe I should have taken my Dynamic Queue games a little more seriously instead of as a warm up for Pure Solo Queue... Dopey me!
"Riot Socrates 2016-03-22T20:11:28.027+0000 Hey guys, we know there are a lot of players who are really passionate about solo queue. We're not trying to be dishonest or dodge this topic. Radio silence on this the past couple months has been painful, we know. We hoped to come out with a direct answer to this, but working through the problems players are facing on live now (consistency around position select, queue times and matchmaking for high MMR) is taking longer than we initially expected. We did a bad job at managing expectations around this and deserve the heat we're getting around that. That being said, solo queue does not directly address either of these problems and could suffer from the exact same problems. We'll be honest: there's definitely a world in which solo queue doesn't return, but we'd rather keep it on the table as we work through these issues before making a final decision.
A few days after we launched dynamic queue we said we would re-release solo queue within weeks, which we haven’t. The main reason is we've prioritized improving matchmaking and position select first and foremost. It's also clear we underestimated the amount of iterative work necessary to bring dynamic queue up to our standards, and we should have communicated that earlier. That said, as we continue our work, we're concerned about the impact solo queue will have on matchmaking as a whole, and we’re assessing how to best proceed. Once we've fixed match times and position selection, we’ll have a better update on other queues."
Yeah... it's been looking like they are going to bone us for a bit. My current conclusion is that this will be a feature that gets pushed to next season... if it gets implemented at all. Kind of bummed as well.
I guess try to look at the positive side of things - if you had ranked anxiety, this likely helped (helped me anyway). Now you just have a bit of a whole to dig yourself out of, but I really doubt getting back up to gold at least again will be a real problem for you. If you are stressing and still have an alt account, maybe give that a go for a little bit. I found it liberating to play on my alts and help folks grind up elo. I'd do my best, but it nearly completely removed me caring about elo on that account anyway and I just had fun with it.
It helped a little too much. I kept playing when I was losing a lot because I really only cared about my rank in Solo Queue. I was actually a little stoked to get demoted cause I'm able to play with my friend Beer without hopping on an alternate account.
Nah, the reasons I struggled this season were:
Gave up Kalista cause they keep balancing her around pro level mechanics. She's even bugged still where if you use attack move click your attack speed slows down significantly. Which means you can't hop away from the angry Xin as fast...
Tried to stop using Attack Move Click cause of the Kalista thing. Figured if I could learn to right click on things real fast like Doublelift I'd get good. Instead I got Silver.
Tried to replace Kalista with Jinx. Turns out low mobility marksmen in Silver Elo are possibly not the best choices.
Support is my best role and second favorite to play but I really don't want to play it 95% of the time. Especially in games I queue in solo after my MMR tanked. Been having a hard time figuring out what roles and champs to play when I don't get Bot.
Been playing with anyone who wants to play Ranked. Karl will attest that I've been playing Ranked with some people that might be better Normal Game Friends. Sorry Karl!
Anyway, all that is sorted out now so no worries. The Solo Queue Dream is dead so gonna start try-harding Dynamic.
Have you given Jhin a fair shake? I find him to be lower risk, higher reward. And you can generally safely farm up to your 1st power spike (I usually do my 1st shop with 1400 gold or so - feels easier to last hit). + you can generally afford to position safely in fights and drop your ult from a distance while bruisers/tanks do their thing. Got like 26 kills with the fella in a plat/gold elo game.. and I don't consider myself all that good an adc. Not sure how much the ping would impact your ult.
I've also been playing graves some as adc. I have much less of an impact with graves as I often build him similar to top lane graves, so my dps goes down, but its very hard to kill me. Better a live adc imo. Anyway, those 2 cater to me pretty well. Maybe corks/varus mid?

Some serious platform issues at the moment though fellas.
New champ is out. Saw dyrus trying it in the jungle to bad effect.
I unlocked the champ by combining 3 of the champs I owned in crafting, so that works as expected.
Good news- in 7 hours I get another chest drop... then a 1 week wait. Ah well - why not. 1 key shard away from another unlock.
Was there someone at Riot that was like - here's a manly freaking idea. BeastHunter trynd. Let's make him look like ass hunter tryn.
