Update 5/25/2017
Well, I started a thread back in Dec 2011 that’s seen a lot of activity (some 922,000 views over the course of a few years apparently...). That thread had a good deal of tips/strategies/discussions about League of Legends from new and old players alike. What’s this thread all about?For those that followed the previous thread, the type of content you see here will be fairly consistent to what you are used to. Please consider this a place to discuss LoL related content as you like. I'll do the same and treat the thread as a blog as well where I talk about what’s going on with me in LoL. Feel free to jump in and join the discussion if you like.
Quick background on meI played a lot of Demigod as pacov/cheesuscrust. Back in August 2011, I started getting heavily involved in League of Legends, and folks from the community were kind enough to help me figure things out. I play LoL most nights, stream, make videos and it’s my main gaming interest.

So, tonight something interesting happened for me. I actually did not give a rip what role I played. I was happy to play w/e actually. I think going solo and knowing i wouldn't be stuck playing in any particular role with the new champ select freed me up a bit. That's the shit I hated about premades - taking or assuming you get a role (well that and dragging some lower elo fella into my game_). Now if I'm just running fill, I don't really care and theres not some shitter going to demand a role. Starting to adapt to this and slowly forgetting about teambuilder relaxation.
Holy crap am I run a bit ragged with work lately. Pretty exhausted. Was nice meeting PDT junior last night.
Anyone been hearing any chatter about this season's reset? Reddit is going a little nuts with people complaining about how low they've dropped after having decent promos. A new friend of mine was in Plat and went 6-4 to place him in Silver. Seems a little more drastic than last season but I'm not sure.
From what I can gather is they've done a soft reset on your MMR but a hard reset on the LP. So you might be dropped in League level quite a bit but it should be easier to climb if you weren't boosted.
I'm expecting to be in bronze, haven't had a not shit team since.
@thunder - I think reddits being a bit tardo on ranked reset. Most of the whining is simply from folks not understanding what is happening with the reset (OMFGBBQ I was plat and now I'm gold, etc). There might actually be something wrong, but I feel like rito is looking into it at least. And I tend to think its working correctly...

Hoping for some ranked soon - soon as in whenever the new champ select is back. I'm not doing shite before that.
So, here's my take. I'm 100% up for playing with any of you if you want to do some grouped ranked stuff. And I'll actually take things quite serious and do my best. But, I'm also very happy to go solo as I have pretty good odds of getting a role I'm good at. Hit me up if you want to a solid support and an "interesting" something else (kind of a grab bag honestly - but I will play whatever thing the team needs in ranked anyway). Chat me up in game once the new champ select is back.
That said, I think this new true solo queue is going to be where I super care about stats (and not that folks care, but its where I personally evaluate myself and others). I know we have folks that can play at a diamond level in various roles and I know we have folks that are shit in X role but high elo in another (ex me). This queue is where I will personally judge myself and others... and its actually something I'm super excited about. And it finally gives a way to evaluate things apples to apples. If karl hits challenger as support in this solo queue and I'm plat - my brain is like shit - I'm going to learn what the fug he's doing and try to get better because he's clearly a better support. It's finally a better picture of elo though - so that's pretty exciting. I hope it really becomes a thing and isnt' just riot bait. Could be they make this dynamic queue then decide to recreate solo/duo queue fucking what I'm looking for anyway. But as it stands, they said 1-2 weeks after ranked starts, a new solo queue will begin. Guess we'll see

I can't remember if I provided a PDT update in a bit, but cow still listening to the audio pack got me thinking about it again. So, a few weeks back pete has this game where he tilted off the planet. Was the 1st game we'd played together in a bit. Anyway, I didn't troll the lad all that much, but ended up becoming the focus of his rage. Anyway, he dropped me from his pals list.
Noticing that, I sent him a PM that I think he got, but maybe not. The PM was more or less saying hey bro - you tilted, it happens. Sorry it was a rough game. Don't be a pisser and lets play again sometime.
Anyway, he refriends me after a few days and apologizes and all is swell. The other day I invite him to a game (I tend to ask you folks if you are ok with having pete with us unless I'm just goofing off with mr boaz). He joins, goes AFK in the lobby for about 8 minutes, and I kick him to the curb. That's my last pete interaction of late.
I also noticed that riot just posted about reworking malzahar... which I'm sure pete will love...
Random tip I saw on reddit that i don't always think about. Relates to jungle, and adc/support
Adding to that, make note of how the enemy team moves as well and even call it out. Bot lane it late to lane and appears with full hp - they were likely leashing - jungle is starting bot. Bot lane appears immediately (and jung not shaco), jungler is starting top. Share the info with team.
Fired up 1 of my alts tonight. Joined a reddit party channel. VERY surprizingly, got a really nice group of fellas on game 1. Played with them for 9 games.. went 9/0.
Crazy amts of ip tho. I got 1k for game 1, then 4 games at 800 ip. It had a boost from a long time back tho. Other games were 300 ip a pop. Only bothered because of the IP bonus. Anyway fun stuff. I think I have an ok adc fellas to add to our crew here and there and a really, really impressive lee sin jung. Been a few months since I was like wow of a newcomer. Adc guys not as good as thunder, but works ok with me. The jung is a solid stand alone. Good to pick him up if karls is missing. Very interesting fella. night all

I hear cow finished his placements and hit plat 2 - which is pretty good. No idea how many wins/losses that was. I think he finished preseason D4.
Got Plat II with a bad record 4-6. Ended diamond 4 this season was diamond III around 50 lp at my peak. Lost a promo to diamond III towards the end of the season and gave up on solo queue after that. Hoping for higher this year.
Right on man! Glad you didn't drop too low. Was worried about the reset after reading too many of the Reddit Chicken Little's crying.
The New Champ Select is back online but I'm probably not going to do my placements right away. I'm thinking I'm going to go Mid as my Secondary choice just so I will get to play Marksman more but I'm not really confident in the role and don't know how often I'm going to be playing it.
If you have any suggestions on how I can improve my Mid play, I'm all ears!
Edit: Bah! Nevermind Cow. I might just be a bot lane specialist this season. I only stopped playing Support because I have 17 friends who also prefer the position nowadays. I'm going to be playing more Ranked than casual games, so I may as well go back to what I like and what I'm good at right?
Anyway, good luck on getting high Diamond this season... or dare I even dream of... Master Cow?!
I think i'm leaning support/mid now. Really glad the new champ select is back. This is all lytes BS to make us like the new mode.
Good choice for you. Some of your Support Mages are really strong Mids right now so you shouldn't have any problem when you end up there. Which I'm thinking will be rare since your Primary will be probably the least popular role and your Secondary will be the most popular.

quite a bit of work to do on my mid zyra. Not even used to last hitting. bleh. giving it another go now
and game 2 i go 11/1/10.
Mostly need to focus on my q harass (usually I can't use that as much as a support for just straight harass (mana issues)). That and cs. Already have decent team fight logic and mechanics with her. Just need to brush up on mid game basics/advanced stuff, wave manipulation, last hitting, and harass.
3rd game mixed results - tend to lean towards we had dummos on team. Loss.
Game 4 - picked up the dump truck after cow sodded off. Crushed it, but I'm in the PDT elo, so doesn't mean much. Did get to work some on cs though.
That long ass game though.... This is the biggest reason I don't like adc. The whole game is on your shoulders to kill everyone that late into the game and it's a lot of work. I am pretty decent at positioning in team fights but I just don't have the mechanics from practing down. I felt like I had ran a marathon after that game. Was so tired that I got crushed by an AD top bard the next game
yea, but we'd have lost if I was adc and we still had pete schenigans. My late game positioning is pretty smeh on adc. That other team being atrocious did not hurt our chances...
Still, on the positive, you got to work on your adc and I got to work on my malph. I get being exhausted tho.
Was enjoying getting in my reps on zyra mid yesterday though. Starting to acclimate. Still leaning towards lux as a mid pick with zyra as a second. Think I'm going to be spamming zyra mid/bot. Just need a few more reps mid and i'll feel comfortable rolling mid/support in ranked. Currently completely comfortable in norms, but want more exp for the ranked.
