The ship designer is out now in the the alpha 2.0 patch, so when have a that ship designed feel free to post it here and so others can see what kind of cool things you can build with it.
One step closer to the end, this time I show you the Large hulls.
As you can see from the from the Balance and Missile units, backpacks and thrusters have been improved (Beam and Kinetic units have also cannons mounted and the backpack, muck like Missile).
Remade my Queen Colonizer from 2015 with the new styles, hope y'all approve of the design which I posted in the yellow_jacket color scheme. I really like the idea of having an insect race but am having trouble coming up with ideas of what bugs to use. I was thinking yellow jackets/wasps for assault/interceptors, horned/stag beetles for guardians/escorts, but would really appreciate suggestions. Maybe a scorpion as a capital? Just not so sure since it does not fit the theme of flying nor insect. Here is the link for the video with all the animations as well... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L6uy0JO26TLbaAizwBsrXOEOlE3PKUZf/view?usp=sharing
Really nice work, Naplex1!
Your idea is interesting, personally I think you could use a different insect for each type of weaponry (for example, stag beetles for Missile, wasps for Balance, etc), then increasing the details and/or using different variants of the same insect for each type of hull (for example, using standard stag beetle for Tiny, a bit more elaborated model for Small, the rainbow stag beetle for Medium, etc).
Back to my new shipset, here comes the final step, the Huge hull.
As you can see from the Beam unit, the main feature is the presence of a pair of giant extra arms (with attached shoulder cannons) that dramatically increase the unit's firepower.
The Missile unit hasn't the extra arms. However it perfectly fits the standard description used by GalCiv 3 for this type of unit: "So, so many missiles".
Finally, each unit has an modified and updated head.
I had talked about it, but I decided to culture flip a planet a bunch of times to dupe hyperion improvements at all 27 sponsors. Plus stellar forges, naturally. Then I made this weapon for which there is no enemy.
t would more be a matter of who could shoot sooner and more rapidly.
Hi guys, I hope you're all doing fine.
I'm back here to show you the first ships from my new set. This time I went for a concept similar to the catamarans: two parallel hulls, linked together by a relatively small bridge in the upper zone.
So, here goes the Tiny batch, with (in order) the Beam, Kinetic, Missile and Balance units.
Here comes the Small hull. Starting from this size, I decided to add another rule to the set, "no visible command bridge".
Overall, the ship looks good, but maybe the turret are a bit too small, what do you think?
Nice work!
Thanks for the appreciation, Publius.
So, let's keep going with the Medium hull. It seems a bit bulky but overall it's still good.
Ok, here comes the Large hull. To be honest, it ended up a bit chubbier than I expected, should I slim it down a bit?
Finally, here's the Huge hull.

It looks cool
Loving these designs, how long does everyone spend making them? Just curious.
Well, when I create a new shipset the part that took the most time is finding a good idea to use as theme for the set, then trying to figure out the general look of the ship want to create.
Once this part is done, usually it takes a couple weeks to create the first prototype (less time for Tiny hull, as they're a bit easier), then a couple days for polishing.
Well after taking a break from Galactic Civilizations I am getting back in. Here is one of my newest designs.
