The ship designer is out now in the the alpha 2.0 patch, so when have a that ship designed feel free to post it here and so others can see what kind of cool things you can build with it.
AHH there a Old Modder good to see you Ken!!
Hey, first post here.
I have designed 31 ships for my custom race, all of them hand crafted from scratch, and here are a few:
The rest are on this imgur album, with annotations, because I know you won't like being spammed with images: https://imgur.com/a/CVLsd
There are a lot of them so I don't have time to do multi angle shot for each of the ship, sorry.
None of them are blocky Terran ships, no. These are beautiful curved alien ships for a race that place aesthetic over functionality that are too hipster to follow mainstream Alterian ship designs.
hmm, I should re-create my Force Effect Set at some point. the new hardpoint behavior, offsets and part-hiding makes it a good deal easier to do so, too, since I won't need the Hull System to make it look good.
thanks Nastytang, I did not think anybody would remember the old shipyard. Anyway could not stay a way form GIII new ship designer. I really like the new tools, it take 1/3 of the time to build a new ships

Comments always welcome.
You plan to leave it on planets for defense purposes, correct?
Can defend star bases and shipyards as well. Just remove a few modules and add an FTL engine. Make several fleets and space them every other hex and park them around planets, star bases and shipyards and watch it shred ships.
My latest Star Trek creation.
Steamrunner Class
first Freighter looks smaller then it really is ingame ,more Pics on my Steam Account
Colony Ship - the Idea is the first Colony gets dropped on the Planet with everything needed to start ,thats why the whole middle Section looks like somekind of Spacestation
Oreminer / Constructor - i wanted my Civil Ships modular ,to fit any role when needed , thats why it got mixed Sections, later Constructors ( Gameplay wise ) will drop the Miner Parts and add more Constructor Sections
and yes thats a Crane ontop of my Ship
@ Mr Star Trek - dont you get tired of making Federation Star Ships ? Dont get my wrong i love Star Trek to my Hearts Content ( Generations ,DS9 and Enterprise ,Voyager was mostle boring until the second half of Season 3) - but to be honest Federation never had that much Diversity in their Shipdesign ^^
now i have to work on my small Ships - tinys are just Drones ,so easy to make
as always Comments are welcome

I really hope you did not just post this to start a confrontation.
This is something I happen to be very good at so no, I don't get tired of it. There is a great deal of diversity in Star Trek ship design. No two ship classes are identical. There are over a 1000 different ship configurations. While some are upgrades others are all new ship designs. Compare the Bradbury class to the Constitution class. Ship design is an evolutionary process. Cars and Aircraft are a prime example of this. There are many different ship designs that never made it into the movies and TV shows and are called Non Canon designs. Many were developed by Star Trek novel writers who were also engineers. Several were designed for board style games such as FASA Star Fleet Battles. Star Trek Online continues to develop new ship classes to carry on what Gene Roddenberry started almost 50 years ago. Another great example is the USS Ares from Star Trek Axanar. I think you should do some research into Star Trek ship design and see what's out there before you reply again.
Please be a little less confrontational.
IMHO Mr. Startrek's ships are awesome! I have seen his non star-trek work and they are great looking as well... I wish my designs are as good as his.
@Mr StarTrek - No Reason to feel offended here ,i was just asking out of Curiosity.
Regarding Diversity in Federation Ships - take the Klingon Starships for an Example and you will get what i meant by Diversity ,they come with slightly different Design Ideas and Shapes + uneven Surfaces ,all of which makes them alot more interesting to me then the average smooth hulled streamlined Federation Starship.
Regarding Star Trek Novels and Strategy Games etc or the Ships coming from them - i see them in the same light as the expanded Universe of Star Wars ,as "non-canon" Stuff.
If you ever read the Star Trek Novel "Dreadnought!" written by Diane Carey you will get why ,the whole Idea of a Starfleet Warship felt so off place as it doesnt filled an existing Gap.And that is just one Example ( and a hideous Ship as well ) - to topple it JJ Abrams had nothing better in Mind then bringing up that Idea again
Hey guys! Great works!
That B5 defense Satelite is perfection! Also Mr. StarTrek, is the Steamrunner your own concept or a preexisting canon-ish ship? Love it, very shiny!
@Iovar, nice work, some really interesting tidbits on some of these ships... I really appreciate everyone posting, helps inspire me!
If you checked screenshots on Steam there is one player who stands out as far as Klingon ship designs go, I certainly could not do them the justice Omnibus has. His Borg, Jem H'adar, Romulan and Klingon designs are outstandingly done. I have no desire to compete with that.
I stuck with Federation designs and if you look though all my screenshots I have posted here you will see I have included both canon and non canon ship designs from Pre-TOS to STO. So there is quite a bit of diversity there as far as designs go, I could go back and do ships that are Pre Federation but I really do not like bulb looking ships from the Romulan War.
I do have plans to start Cardassian ship designs when I have presented enough Federation ship designs that anyone can use for any mod for any era in Star Trek Federation History. Maybe even a few other ST races ship designs that have not been touched yet here, time will tell. Right now I am having a lot of fun with Federation designs and my ships are very popular with Star Trek fans here.
I have read "Dreadnought" and the authors principal is correct. The concept of the Federation was never to be warlike. The purpose of Federation was First contact, exploration, science and discovery. It was politics that led the Federation to build armed ships to defend from attack. Federation never attacked another civilization with the purpose to expand and conqueror. Lessons learned from the Vulcan's was to guild emerging space faring civilizations to peacefully explore the wonders of the galaxy and share the knowledge with other peaceful races in hope they would join the Federation. Federation never forced their will.
@ Gaunlet, Yup The Steamrunner class is a Canon ship design, Appeared in DS9 as well as the Akira Class did.

I love all of those! I hope you put them up for download, once they get the workshop functionality working.
Oooo a Nova I missed that, good work Macross!
