The ship designer is out now in the the alpha 2.0 patch, so when have a that ship designed feel free to post it here and so others can see what kind of cool things you can build with it.
Thanks, though i used a dropbox link. Strange.
--whoops, double post--

[/quote] Oof, this was a harder one than I'd expected. Had a lot of trouble getting a smooth triangular surface for the saucer section. Nevertheless, it turned out alright:

I have to admit. I want that ship. First time I've really thought that about a star trek federation ship lol, but the color scheme really sells me on it!
For my first fan request... ... well... Request Granted!!

I've started a version of this ship myself after your request on Steam Cielo. Give me a few days. I think you will like the results.
OOPS
hey, so I saw all the Star Trek stuff, and decided to start in on my own spin on it: rather than direct clones as close as possible to the source material, I decided on doing ships that still 'fit' the general look of GC3's races while being obviously inspired by ST ships-
like this Drenginized version of the Iconic Klingon Bird of Prey, AKA the B'rel class.
Latest additions to my Star Trek Arsonal.
Custom design, Aurora Class Heavy Cruiser.
Custom design, Tempest Class Heavy Cruiser.
Comments always welcome.
Like your Tempest design, MrStarTrek (and your others, as always)... and Gauntlet... wow. I've enjoyed watching your videos. Looking forward to your race mod with all those lovelies. And to all the other recent additions: I'm really liking all the ideas and designs. Wish I weren't so darn busy with work, otherwise I might post a new/updated design or two...
I've been posting these bad boys to the various civ/4x threads on /vg/ (4chan) for a while now - behold the various ships of the SOMNUS Corporation.
An Interceptor Drone.
A Bomber design, load it up with Missiles and Kinetics and let the fun fly.
My main ship of the line - the "Avalanche" Class Frigate.
Another Avalanche Shot that better shows off the hull layout - the ball in the middle spins in various directions.
One of my two large scale hulls, the "Tsunami" Class Battleship.
Another Tsunami Shot, because look at that beastly ship.
And the last ship of the collection (so far) the "Typhoon" class Assault Carrier - yes, that /is/ 10 Assault Carrier Modules (30 fighters) per ship - and they operate in hunter killer packs of three at a time (90 fighters).Comments and Criticisms are appreciated.
Loved it! you are like some space version of Círdan Gauntlet03
another classic Klingon ship in Drengin style, this time the K'tinga or D-7:
Nice one Mechworks! I feel like Drengin are a bit Klingon-ish too
I really like the Tempest MrStarTrek!
It's like a really big Akira, a ship which I really want to make a version of myself.I had a look through your Photobucket and saw your Oberth too, which is awesome. Would you share the template? Honestly, I'm embarrassed by my own Oberth... it was the first ship I made in the editor
Speaking of, I must say the simplicity of your designs is amazing. I need to use probably 25 parts to achieve what you've done with 10. What part is that which you've used for the extended upper hull of the Aurora which runs from the saucer all the way to the back?

Thank you, I will download this as soon as I get home and treasure it always!(or at least until Gal Civ 4 becomes a reality.) I'll name the first one I build in every multiplayer game the "(ship prefix here) Turiel" in honor of you. Also saving that great .gif.
Thanks, I'd love to have it too! I may have accidentally mistaken you and TurielD on the forum and steam as the same person, sorry about that little hiccup. Despite the embarrassment, I promise to love both designs will probably have one with focus on (phasers) beams and the other focus on (photo torpedos) missiles. I will probably name yours "(ship prefix here) Trekker" in honor of you StarTrekGuy in multiplayer.
I guess I owe to show some of my new designs in thanks for my request being fulfilled:
My first design is a canard design trade/executive transport shuttle built to resemble a private business jet inspired greatly by the Beechcraft Starship:
My second design is my first attempt at making a versatile mecha design. To be used for mining, escorting larger ships and breaching enemy carriers. It has an animated spinning drill, a shielded bazooka, over the shoulder missile pods and several thrusters. This is no direct influence to this design, however I tried to base it off ancient Roman legionaries and centurions clad in segmented armor(Lorica Segmenta) or armed with a board like shield(scutum) with short sword(gladius):
Enjoy!
Also, a question: Does this make this the request ship design thread as well as the share ship design thread? Because I can think of 2-3 ships from other series like Star Wars or Mass Effect to request if anyone's willing.
Glad you like it
Heh, I'm TurielD on steam, but definitely get MrStarTrek's version too! His designs tend to be a lot more elegant than mine, and aren't as likely to melt your computer with an absurd number of polygons like mine might with so many parts.
What! Not Telchar the dwarf?!
Nerdiest compliment I've ever heard lol thank you!
@ theshadowscythe3
I love these designs! Nice use of one of the new parts, I'll have to try hard not to copy how you used it lol!
A ship design I just finished I like very much, but parts disappear when viewing the ship in space(not in designer/shipyard view). Does anyone have any ideas as to why?
I created a video of the ship. First view is designer where you can see all the parts. Then the view is in space where the parts disappear. For third I tried moving the parts higher up since it appeared as if they might be too/taken out of the frame/view. Anyway here's the video of the ship:
Fast maded design for... Drendgin cargo-size sensor ship

Turiel, If you actually knew ammount of parts I use to design ships especially canon Star Trek ships it would blow your mind. I use about 5X more parts to get the level of detail I want.
Now, as per request by Cielo and inspired by Turiel. Thanks for the challenge guys!
Cerberus Class Tactical Battle Cruiser.
Haha fair enough; the transitions you've got are so smooth, maybe I'm underestimating the number because of that. Fed ships are all so curvy and rounded, it's hard to find any parts in the editor which fit that.
Personally I really like the armour-plated look some of the shiny parts give, so I'm pretending Voyager's future armour made it in to general usage
Next on my wishlist is a Klingon like race, and a Centauri like one. btw is it possible to change the fighters in the hangar module?
yes the the Armour-Plated!!
Edit: Drengin Bok'ta class Bird of Prey
Personally I put images on imgur.com, copy the image URL, and when posting here I press the 'insert/edit image' button (little icon of a tree) and copy the image location in to the 'image URL' field.
