The ship designer is out now in the the alpha 2.0 patch, so when have a that ship designed feel free to post it here and so others can see what kind of cool things you can build with it.
Incredible!
I see, you are into Draconian measures against your enemies.
OPPS
Most awesome ship design I have seen yet!!!! Blow everything away I have done with ship designer. That is a true masterpiece of ship design ingenuity!!!!
Hamilmac, Paul has promised a tool to do the hull size changing. Issue started way back when all we had was up to medium hulls. Many of us designed titans anyway. So sometime after release we will get to turn them into real size they need to be.
Thanks for the kind comments and that horrible pun.
When we can share designs, I'll post all my (good) designs so anyone can use them, and hopefully others will post the awesome designs I have seen on this forum. Designing the dragon, though, showed that the Designer still needs work: screwy hard points, wonky angles, things not lining up, a gizmo tool that doesn't always follow part rotations, zooming, display multiple rows of parts, etc. Not to mention I want to color individual parts (imagine the dragon with red, gold, and brown, and orange fire in the mouth).
For those who are interested, the body is Medium Thalan Model 91, back plates are small Thalan Model 76, horns are small Thalan Model 94, hands are large Iconian Model 86, and so on. Also, the way the ship is designed, it would be possible to animate it so the tail swings back and forth, the wings beat, and the head and arms move, but I felt that would take up too much memory. The non-proportional scale and offset tools in GC 3 open up SO many possibilities.
Very awesome job Hamilmac!!! And Rand..dont knock what you have done either...no one should. Your ST ships are awesome and what I use every game(well the ones that I can get to work since the new patch haha). You are all very talented and should be proud of what you have made!!
Yet another non-traditional fighter design. This is my third attempt during the betas to create a shark-shaped ship. While I'm not completely happy with this design (looks more like a barracuda), it's the closest to a shark I've been able to get. It actually looks pretty cool in game, especially when they're in a fleet.
And, yes, now you can have a frickin shark with a frickin laser on its head!
Sweet a shark WITH LASERS??? (this said in a Dr. Evil voice) You could also do alot of very little ones and call them piranha's...and if you are feeling retro I think a Titan class ship shaped like Pacman would RULE!! Then again Im old...
Here is a video I made of a few of Rand Johnson's great and uber ST ships! Granted he has so many more, but theres a few issues with them working since the last patch, but these are the ones I have used so far. All the credit is his...I just get to play them and love it!
Also, you may notice the Yor's not so secret Death Ray that is in the screen...I know its a trade route from them, but I think they are up to something!!
This is part 2 of my video on Rand Johnson's great and awesome ST ships. Its 16 mins long, but I wanted to try and show how awesome they look. You can tell at times that the moving of the ships wigs out on me...and I noticed that it almost was acting as if it was going to lock up, so I hurried up a bit. Also, my hand was starting to hurt, haha, please SD put in a rotate feature(or if there is one in, I need to look better!!). Id love to use all these ships, but for some reason, many wont save as templates(especially the ones with more advanced parts) and I would like to figure out a way to mod them all in and have them release, as certain techs become available...that way they are spaced out a bit more. I play very slow research(ive actually gone in and changed the value) games, because I want research to matter and take longer, so I really enjoy it when I unlock news ships and tech. Again, all credit goes to Rand Johnson...these are his and he was gracious enough to let me play around with them and have fun with them. Im also hoping he does other races from ST as well...of course Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian and more!!
You will also notice on the Galatica, that I was circling where the carrier launch bays would go...for some reason they vanished on mine haha. Also love that you put that in!! Now if only the Chandley class frigate could make it in, my geekdom would be complete!! Enjoy!!

Thanks for showcasing my ships in the video. I never thought they looked that good. It's refreshing to see them from another players point of view.
Thank you!!!!
They are simply awesome looking...especially in my current game where ive chosen a black color for the hull...they looked wickedly beautiful, imho! You have done a fantastic job!! I mean I cant wait til the game is complete and I can have all the various uber looking ships, that we have seen on these pages, in my game. How awesome would that be!! Cant wait!!
Are you ready for that Nerdgasm????
Check your email!!!!!
LOL i had one...yelled so loud my little girl came downstairs wondering what happened to Daddy!! Haha...thanks so much! It looks great! Will post a pic of it soon...and it looks killer in black!!
I made several attempts to build that ship over the last three days. Its a very complex ship design. It certainly not the kind of ship you can just throw parts at. I had to look for shapes with parts that resembled the pictures in the schematics. I went mostly with Terran and Thalian parts because they mostly had the right shapes I needed to make it at least look like the Chandley Class.
I am glad you like the ship.

Good job on it too!
Thanks Bro! I am seriously considering changing my screen name to Mr. Star Trek. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!
Hey guys!
Well I continue to work on a new space squid/organic ship set.
Its surprisingly relaxing, because you can be a lot less precise with the parts when you know your going to be scaling and animating pretty much ALL of them lol.
This time we have the Fighter Swarm (small hull) a Cargo Hull and a Nautilus inspired Medium Hull. When I do a large and huge, I definitely plan on having lots of little fighters hanging on their undersides, ready to launch.
Feedback always welcome.
I remember in GC II that someone was making Star Trek ships, and I had asked them to look at the Chandley Class and they said it was a great looking ship, but trying to make it was like impossible haha. Its is a rather different looking design, but I have loved that ship ever since the FASA ST game!! I had been playing this ship before ST WoK came out and this ship actually had an aft torpedo on it, so when I saw the Reliant shooting aft torpedoes, I was like "pfft...old news haha"!
Heres a small vid of in Terran colors...on my custom faction(X-Com...another game I love) It is so dark(because I chose black) that you cant see it as well, even though I think it looks wicked!
Thanks again buddy! And well done! I hope all the others appreciate your work as much as I do!!

Video setting are private. I cannot view it.
Sorry I think I changed it to public...well it says that it is now...give it a try and let me know. Im still kinda new to putting stuff on youtube, so im learning as I go
Looks even better from your point of view.
I love Rand Johnson's ships...lol call me a fan boy, but I sit there and just watch them in the viewer and replay battles over and over. Cant wait until I can mod the game with other Star trek stuff like phasers, toprs, both graphics and sounds(well hopefully that will be possible). Did this in GC 2 and loved it haha.
I admit, I'm not usually a fan of oscillation, floating and animation in general on ship designs, since it generally seems to feel rather awkward and arbitrary...but holy hell, those are absolutely wonderful. The small touches, like the eyes and stuff, really look stunning, and you've doen a great job of making it feel organic and the pieces flowing really well. Incredible job, they're stunning. 10/10, would definately use.
