The ship designer is out now in the the alpha 2.0 patch, so when have a that ship designed feel free to post it here and so others can see what kind of cool things you can build with it.
Got my act together and took some videos of my three sets. Terran and Kryseth, as I've shown, and now one for the Iridium. The new one, is very vertical and a little "bugly".
Gauntlet03,
You rock (with rocks in space) .
Any Babylon 5 ships yet?
I would be interested if somebody got some Yor/ Borg Kubusses / Tacitical Kubusses or Spheres.I tried them once but they diddnt come out as symmetrical
In one of the dev streams, I believe, somebody had asked about more "organic" ship design possibilities. Well the Yor have you covered! (infinitely) BETTER than organic life,(which will soon all be dead) it's a machine which appears to be alive:
Well that is just adorable!
Coincidentally, I started working on a Yor set of ships two days ago, they are VERY bug like, and lots of moving parts, but I am looking forward to some more organic looking part sets from the other races maybe, the Altarians just don't quite cut it for me.
One thing I learned with the eye piece you used there as well, is that it works well with the Scale animation, just scale it by say 8-10% at a decent speed and it makes the eye look like it is "pulsating".
Might also work on a model as a sort of "boil" or such...
I could NOT resist posting this.... ROFLMAO!!!

First design I ever made. A StarFury fighter from Babylon 5.
Very cool. I had half a mind to make a Starfury but never got around to it.
I haven't actually done any ship designing since the comp, so with the new beta I'm eagerly jumping back into it and looking forward to seeing my work explode in the battle viewer.
Knocked up a tiny scout and fighter.

Edit: Removed broken image links
The Sisko I wanted the same thing but that quickly changed to seeing them fighting and the other guys exploding.
Here's a 360 turn around of my fighters
Love it and I love the asymmetry!
my latest ship, a carrier
I always loves studying the fine details in your ships. My only real criticism would be that the bridge is always a massive target. I wonder if it would look better with a smaller bridge.
Cool! Kind of a Robotech feel.
AdmiralPrice To me bridges are for normal operations only. When the action starts everything moves to the battle bridge. That was my biggest gripe about Return of the Jedi and the super star destroyer.
Alrighty! My bugs/Yor ship set is done.
These guys definitely took a while, and a lot of work went into the carriers... the Huge Carrier actually gets a little choppy in the designer because of all the moving parts (all the individual fighters cannons swivel a little). I'll have to produce a version of that model with less animations for the future... runs fine in the rest of the game.
Gauntlet, your ships are so full of creative my head exploded when I saw them. It took awhile for me to rematerialize my brain. Well done!
Those yor ships really blew me away. Probably my favourite ships posted in this forum so far. Amazing.
Just did a few Zeon designs from the UC timeline. They are my take on the Musai (large hull) and Gwazine (Titian hull) class ships. SIEG ZEON!!!

Thoughts/comments welcome!
Special thanks to AlLanMandragoran and adamb1011 for the kind words! When the game is released, I'll be distributing ship designs, so you too can enjoy these.
Also, adamb1011, I really like that ship, my only thought is that the window lights on the side are so dense its a bit distracting... I'd consider inserting a part fairly flush with the edges to block some of those lights.
Also looks like your using some engines as gun batteries... maybe add some sort of muzzle or glowy bit to the front of them, they just end in a flat surface right now.
Really like the design, in a different color scheme I'd say it looks very "romulan".
Hey gauntlet, thanks for the feedback. I agree, the lighting is definitely distracting. It would be great if star dock provided a way to tone that down somehow. Until then, I guess you are right in that I should add smooth solid edges to mask it.
And thanks for the feedback about the cannons - great idea
