Derek (Kael) has been super busy with the general expansion of Stardock Entertainment over the past 3 years. AS I type this, there are 7 concurrent game projects going on. Back in 2008, I dreamt of having a second team. Here we are, 6 years later with seven teams. I’m writing this from the airplane on my way to visit one of the new studios (one that hasn’t been announced yet).
So what does that mean for fans of the Elemental universe? The answer is, lots of good news. While Galactic Civilizations III heads towards its March alpha, the Elemental team is hard at work on a new DLC pack for this Winter tentatively called “Monarchs” which will bring more channelers to the world for players to play with. In addition, we expect to announce the third game in the Elemental fantasy universe this year. It will be dramatically different from War of Magic or Fallen Enchantress.
Without giving too much away about the new game, which we expect to formally announce this Spring, its planned feature set includes:
It’s been in development for awhile, prior to LH. LH was originally supposed to be a minor expansion on FE but as you’ve probably gathered, we really love making these games. The next update to LH is in the works, pathfinding improvements, performance and some other updates are scheduled.
The Klingons did in a false god in ST 5 I do believe.
Just look up the story of Baldr from the Norse myths and you'll see plenty of gods die.
See Cronus.
The time of troubles
Did Cronus DIE, or was he imprisoned in Tartarus with the rest of the Titans? The time of troubles refers to the Forgotten Realms campaign setting?
In the case I'm thinking of, the player is up against a Mithrilar that using a mortal avatar.
The main point being is that I'd like to dispense with the wimpy (oh look, I can now have a club) beginnings and start players out much more powerful.
Elemental has all kinds of powerful spells in it, volcanos, meteror storms, tidal waves, but few people ever see it and we had to totally nerf other easier things because they made the game imbalanced.
But if you make the player and their enemies going for different goals you can set things up so that they can do horrible things to each other without it breaking the game play.
Does that mean, that the game will take place shortly after Destiny's Embers?
It would be before. The events of it are hinted in the book though.
Consider me intrigued.
Very interesting... the only question I have to ask is if the Sovereign is customizable or is he/she premade?
I'd like to know the answer to that question, too.
He made them.
There is saying, we live as long as we are remembered.
Pick one you like more.
Well, this could be the perfect opportunity to merge two SD games:
Elemental:Demigod
Demigod left mixed feelings, so I'm not sure about it.
I just hope you don't overdo the powerfull start and powerfull spells. I need the feeling of hard choices, long term planning with opportunity costs.
FAO frogboy.
Off topic but..Out of curiosity have you considered doing an FE style perspective game set in your sci fi Gal Civ universe? Something more character, colonisation.. oriented? would be kind of cool.
Yes
+1
All for this. Always been a fan of the original concept of a badass attempting to restore the world. Full of essence (i.e. overly powerful) and able to dispense the essence to accomplish goals - but becoming weaker over time.
I have way more fun with a jacked up sovereign and jacked up enemy sovs as well.
I sometimes set my sov up with a 15-20 power weapon, base shield, base leather armor with 1 magic piece, a mount and 10-15 customization points.
I set the other sovs up the same way.
The power from that lasts till about late 'early' game, still overpowered by better troops but the beefed up Sov 'feels' better and helps with all the easy mobs. Eventually can upgrade EQ and if leveled well can solo or duo a lot of items. Still powerful, but by that point needs attention and some babysitting.
Much more fun to play IMO.
stardock, the bane of my existence x'D ... seriously guys, stop telling me things like that, i'm throwing money at my screen but nothing happends .
Can it be confirmed that the game described in the OP is the same game as E2015 discussed here:
