OK, I'm trying to complete a Metaverse game, but I have experienced a crash. I seem to recall a policy for submitting "crash exceptions", but I can't find the policy. Can someone post the policy or a link?
Thanks
Hi snark!I recall there being a program you had to run, smart ex?? i think it was called. But i think it had to running whilst you played and it captured the crash.Alternatively if you haven't started another game since the crash i think you could post up the debug.er file to the forums and try and Kryo to have a look at it.I don't recall if you could submit debug files to support or not.....It's just been too damn long....
Thanks, Neilo! Nice avatar, by the way!
It occurred to me in the wee hours that I may have been thinking of Civ5. You set the autosave for every turn and submit the save immediately before the crash and the save immediately after.
Hopefully, one of the SD staff will chime in and clarify whether there is a similar procedure for MV games. The Smart Exception does sound somewhat familiar.
If you post/mail your debug.err we can identify if there is a common problem evident, but SE dumps and such aren't really going to be productive at this point. Unless Brad can finagle it into compiling on newer versions of VS in his spare time, GC2 is EoL.
How about this:
I set the autosave for 1 turn, or quicksave every turn. If the game crashes, I just load the previous turn and continue on.
I have always had the autosave to each turn once we started to get OOM errors when trying to move thousands of ships to under the starbases each turn.Autosave every turn was also helpful for when you got the econ event and it finished. Just reload last save and 9 times out 10 it didnt end when hitting turn.I do really need to get playing some GC2 again though...
Ahhhhhhh, the Econ event! I forgot all about that. *(($-me-with-a-spoon for disabling Mega Events when I started this game. I also choose the wrong alignment for my tech tree. That settles it. I'm starting a new game.....
hahahaha yeah. now you will find every turn auto save is good for reloaded when you get a jagged knife you didnt want! lol
Well, I needed the practice before i started the "official" game. It WAS kinda funny though....
So, Mega Events OFF. It's Random Events, dammit, Random Events.
This is cosmic payback for that time I "borrowed" that Korath spore ship for a harmless joyride...........so clumsy, sooooooo clumsy......poor Torians....
