Ok, I hear and read alot about 'legendary heroes' from both Frogboy and others. What is this game? What exactly is it?
Now furthermore, IF i wanted to get this game, what game(s) do I need to get in order to play it? I have read that I need Elemental, is this correct?
Do I pay for a DLC or an expac?
Thanks much.
Legendary Heroes is a standalone expansion to Fallen Enchantress, a turn-based fantasy strategy game. It takes place in the world of Elemental, along with War of Magic, which was released first and is no longer available for purchase. Wish I can tell you more, but I haven't played it myself. From what I read on these forums the world the action takes place on is Altaria in the past.
Ok, so If I wanted to get into this game which has many good reviews, what and where do i got to purchase..??? (my paycheck for myself for xmas is burning a hole in pocket)....
the best shop to get lh & fe is the STARDOCK store (just click on the store button on the top of the screen)
and as rhonin stated WOM is not available, so you will not be able to get it,
harpo
Harpo, I am confused, Which do I need? Is there a base game? What is the name of the 'base game' that I start with and what is the name of the expansion.
Please do not truncate, use the full name as I am at a loss as to which one to get first, install then get second.
Legendary Heroes is standalone. You do not need any other games in order to buy or play it.
Ok, Great, Legendary Heroes it is.
Now, is there an EXpansion for Legendary Heroes?
No, but you can purchase various DLC's. Check out the Stardock Store
To put it as succinctly as I can:
LH makes the tactical combat fun. It was a chore in the previous games.
Ok, I get my tactical combat fix right now via Xcom Enemy Unknown.
Is this similar? (Movement, tactics, ??)
Sorry to be such an idiot but I really do not want to get something only to find out I need another.
There is Fallen Enchantress (On stardocks site)
There is also Fallen Enchantress 'Legendary Heroes' (Also on site) I cannot find anywhere this is a stand alone game.
Which one do I want and can I just get Legendary heroes by itself and get right into the action?
All you need is Legendary Heroes (full name is Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes, or abbreviated as FE:LH or just LH on the forums)
You can buy it anywhere, all the versions of it are for use on Steam, there are no versions that do not use Steam. You will end up having to register (basically a one time activation) the game with Stardock, but you already have an account setup, so no big deal there. That will happen during first launch of the game, you should just be able to use same credentials you are using to post here.
To address the question about the tactical combat...
It is not as indepth tactical combat as in X-Com, the tactical combat is a basic tactical combat that you may have found in games long past. Do not take that as the impression that tactical combat doesn't have tactics it does, but don't expect it to compete with a game that is designed around tactical combat (e.g. Total War, X-Com, etc.)
To re-iterate you need only Legendary Heroes (you do not need any other elemental game) to play Legendary Heroes. It is also a Steam Only game.
However, it may be that if you purchase the game from Stardock and then register it on Steam, Stardock gets more money then if you bought it from Steam directly. Same (possibly anyway) with the DLCs. Even though you need to register on Steam anyway, if you want Stardock to get more from the sale you may want to buy from Stardock rather than the Steam Store.
Ok thanks for the info. I see Fallen Heros is on sale!
As for DLC is any one or two must haves?
Map packs?
Loot?
Quest pack?
Thanks again.
My personal favorite is the quest pack, but at $2.50 each (via the Xmas sale), IMO, they are all worth purchasing.
There are many great features available to you once you register, including:
