I've had my eye on this for a while, watched a lot of "Let's Plays" on Youtube , and I think I want to pick this up while it's on a slight sale on Steam for the next few days. Anyone else been playing this and how is it so far? I know it's still early and no-where near feature complete yet, but what is it's potential, and is it fun currently?
Thanks for any opinions both good or bad, especially the bad if it has a lot. I've also been keeping an eye on Rimworld.
A friend that bought it told me it wasn't ready to buy yet, even after it got updated he said he still liked playing Rimworld because of its tactical combat.
well whats there to play in rimworld? i think its a alpha or even pre alpha, it looks very cool i must say but there is not much to play yet

my opinion is that rimworld aims at something bigger which isnt really showing yet, while it shows its potential and being very cool
df9 is a bit less cool but shows more of gameplay for now
anyway both are alphas so anything can happen, and both looks interesting
Both rimworld and spacebase df9 are very early alpha, they are not really good purchases right now in my opinion. Spacebase you can only get a few (2-4) hours of gameplay out of, Rimworld has different randomizations which basically make the games different so it lasts a bit longer. But unlike spacebase, in rimworld you are constantly reminded of how a lot (most) of the content isn't in the game yet. Spacebase, at least, is polished for "what it is", about the same as a demo.
Also spacebase's devs are occupied with other projects and spacebase is their side-project. They have monthly updates but the ones I've seen so far sets a pretty low pace. Rimworld's guys are at least fully focused on that.
personally, I find rimworld quite addictive even in it's early pre-alpha state, but back to the op, from what I saw at the website it seems to be somewhat similar to rimworld but in outerspace instead of a planet.
so it boils down to if you like the sort of game, then try it and then let us know, but if you do not the do not

also i must say price for spacebase is pretty high imo but still dunno i find it less cool but more intriguing it seems there is "a lot" of stuff and most of it working to be a alpha release, so im very interested in it
as for the pace dunno, starbase release nearly every month while rimworld its not clear their schedule i think it was all done by a single guy for the start then after the funding got some more ppl to help so maybe there isnt yet a schedule to follow maybe now theyll start releasing stuff regularly
also this is quite a point for rimworld too since a single guy could do so much shows initiative and some talent, probably now that he got help he can progress the game even more
every time i see the header "Space-base DF9" I think I see "Deep Space Nine." Was choice of mane intentional homage to DS9?
