I'm curious to see what they do with regard to the extended universe stuff. There is so much post-Return of the Jedi canon out there I wonder if they'll adapt it or just discard it.
I think they will adapt some parts, creating something totally new and still logical, credible and original would be a bit difficult.
I don't really have high expectations from the VII episode, I guess it is more about money making than actually continuing the story. Though if they don't put another Sith as the villain I will be so disappointed..
Play Knights on the republic 1 and get the best SW story since EmpireStrikesBack.
Unknown to everyon, Padme had a third child with JarJar Binks after a three martini lunch at the high council.
This child, shamed with his fathers comic releif role, avenges all of the main characters who received top billing.
... after training as a Sith, of course.
Star Wars has, to me, become just another sci fi/space movie/story.It has lost all the mystery from episodes 4-6.
Basically this. Ironically it is supposed to come out on by birthday now but I'm trying to ignore it. Even if the movie itself is decent I'm not confident at all in their ability to not wreck the universe. I'd much prefer they started with that Yoda movie.
I recall reading earlier that it is JJ Abrams intension to completely disregard the canon and recreate an alternate parallel future for Star Wars.
He seems to like doing that sort of thing.
Personally, I think JJ Abrams should throw Lucas under the bus and recreate an alternate parallel parallel PAST of the prequel trilogy again realigning them with what existed in the original prequel canon.
Someone looked at their watch and worked out more rug-rats had now been born that 'might' enjoy this drivel.
I was too old for the target demographic of Episode 4 so by the time Yoda was in that ridiculous swordfight in Ep 1 or 2 - whatever the truth was out. It's utter crap intended as a vehicle for toy product-placement to profit Lucas. Any storyline is merely incidental.
Truth to tell I never really liked Star Wars. I'm more of a Trekkie.
I hope admiral Thrawn will feature in the movie. And for the rest I hope it'll have a nice story, with lots of humor and heroism.
I want the movies to cover the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.
I can't wait to see the sex scene between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher...
And everyone knows the bad guy will be Boba Fett... planning vengeance all these years after escaping the sarlac pit.
As cool as it would be, I'd rather them not have Admiral Thrawn actually. They're GOING to screw it up and the thought of having my impression of Thrawn...mismanaged...is not an appealing prospect.
That said, if JJ Abrams wants to promise the style of 4,5,6 in 7,8,9 INSTEAD of the crap that was 1,2,3....then by all means, Thrawn away!
I hope they ignore the EU crap and make something good.
Isn't Star Wars owned by Disney now?...
A new alien race with wings and wands will be introduced into the story.
Yes, but Lucas has held onto the toy franchise/rights...which plainly shows his level of 'interest'...
I am with Uvah on this. Never cared for Star Wars but like the Star Trek stuff. Never cared for the modern series though but liked the original and the 2 new movies have been good. I always found Star Wars to be too, (well this is the point I will bite my tongue)
Childish.
Working that out wasn't rocket surgery ...
Same with me. But I guess that's obvious.
I am Dyslexic of Borg. Your ass is malted....
What is childish about finding Star Wars childish?
Nothing at all...only a child wouldn't find it childish [but even if he did he wouldn't care...hence the term]...
"Muppets In Space"
Biggest flaw in the series was their use....including the bloke in the Gorilla suit.....Absurd-Aliens-R-Us.
At least in Star Trek the 'Tribbles' were tongue-in-cheek.
Haven't they confirmed they won't be taking plot lines directly from the books? A cameo or reference might be cool, but I doubt he'll be a main villain. Besides it sounds like the main protagonists won't be Luke, Han and Leia.
They can't ignore it completely, if they declare the entire EU non-canon it will be a nightmare to work out what details of the universe have been altered because of it. My personal hope is they place the movies in the gap in the timeline after 45 ABY (I.e. 40 years after Return of the Jedi), they can make their own plot there with causing much confusion.
What's childish about an army of fucking Teddy Bears defeating the Empire?
I like both, but if forced to choose, I would pick Trek.
