First I would like to take the thank rjhughes67 for taking up this project. Nacey has had a lot of things on his plate and so he has not gotten around to Distant Stars lately. He says he will occasionally pop in with comments and ideas but his time is being taken up else where. I, Ryat, will continue to be forum moderator and master bug hunter for this project. And maybe the occasional change/addition.
Second I would like to thank Nacey, -Ue_Carbon, Draakjacht, Stant123 and Skyline (the originator of this mod) for all of their hard work on this project. Also give thanks to all the modders whose mod projects we used, abused and otherwise mutilated for our own mod.
And finally to our fans. Let's face it. Sins of a Solar Empire is a very moddable game and there are some excellent mods out there. We thank you for sticking with us.
And now without further ado the links.....
Stant's pet Vasari I see.
Haven't messed with the antimatter fountain so that may be a base game bug actually.
Is there anything that queues the pet bad vasari to show up? I thought that was pretty damn cool. I'd also like it if the pirates had a Ragnarov on occasion.
Actually its part of the Stellar Phenomenon DLC. I called it Stant's pet Vasari as its icon is Stant's icon.
I might put it in the Powerful Pirates one but not in the main mod.
Superbad With the DS mod its almost hard to take pirates seriously late game. With a ragnarov joining the fray it would be a bit more of a serious issue. Especially if you could pay for pirate raids and have one spawn with 'overwhelming.'
Eventually, you might have to deal with several rags.
It is one of the reasons why we increased the danger of the pirates but they do need a rework. May do that next round of updates/upgrades.
I called it Stant's pet Vasari as its icon is Stant's icon.
Muahahahahahahahaha!
so THAT is why it keeps rolling over and dying
harpo
Et tu, Harpo? Et tu?
I haven't been able to play an entire game in forever.
Constant minidumps.
The one solution I found was turning off the superweapons but I forgot how to. I know it's in the CONSTANTS folder....any ideas?
I also have all the graphics on medium (should I turn them lower?). When I say I can't finish a game I might get past the first pirate attack and then a mini-dump happens. Bizarre.
That is unusual. Make sure you have the latest version and you may have to download again in case you got a bad download.
After that, I suggest checking your drivers as it seems that more is going on then just the game and mod.
Drivers and game are up to date.
Are you using any Add-On's ?? or just the base mod?
No addons just the new "update" that was provided a couple pages ago.
I play on the randomized huge map with 5 stars.
Is it normal that the sol system and powerful pirates addons are not compatible with the AHA addon?
Yes, certain files in each are incompatible. You can go through and edit them to be, but its a long process.
I turned all the settings down to minimum and the game works fine.
Having said that how do I get rid of superweapons? I just don't want any in the game.
Sorry to hear you had to go so low. Wasn't sure why you did as most usually just need to stay at high and a few (like myself) can stay at the highest. Best guess would be to check what is running in the background.
Best bet would be to unlink them in the player.entity files. Make sure to reduce the count by one for each.
This mod is too slow, I recommend speeding up all the values.
Feel free to modify the mod if you wish Sinkillr. Just no public release please.
I'd Like To Have Some Permissions Regarding The Mod .... ._.
Hi, enjoying the mod. Quick question about research, since there are so many levels to research is there any way to increase the research speed? Does doubling the amount of military labs for example impact the research speed? pardon the newb question.
Number of labs has no affect on speed, just tier (level) of research available to be performed and available to be used. In some cases, if you have a tier 6 research item completed and lose a station or two, you won't be able to build that item anymore until you replace the lost stations.
Research speed can be increased as one of the pre-game options. If the fastest setting still doesn't do it for you, then keep reading.
This mod has so many things to research and so many levels to research to force players to pick. You can be a generalist and have very low levels of a lot of things, or very high levels of a couple of things, not high levels of everything. Playing to get high levels of everything is certainly possible, but don't feel bad about being unable to do so in a game as that was not the intent.
There are two ways to go about making research go even faster then the default values in a single player game, edit the mod to make it go faster, or play using the dev exe and basically, use the options in there to give instant research times or just give everyone all research with a single button press. For multiplayer, you cannot use the dev exe, and modding the mod would force everyone else to have to have the same vales so it's highly recommended that if you play multiplayer, that you save a copy of the files you change before you do so, so that you can revert back quickly before you load the game up.

For help with the dev exe commands, I think it's ctrl + shift + . (basically just control + >) to open up the options and , (comma) to back up one level in the menu and just play around in it until you figure out what you wanna do. Don't quote me on that though as it's been a couple of years since I last played/modded sins.
Hey guys, long time fan .. I've not played SINs in a while and was wanting to play tonight, so I made sure the game client was updated, then DLed your latest version but it will not generate a checksum .. stays at 0.
Its the 1.82 version of Rebellion with both DLCs and it plays ok just I can't seem to get DS to give me a checksum ... any ideas? is there a way to clear some sort of temp file or something to let it reset ?
thanks,
You might want to check and see if you accidentally made an extra file folder. That can sometimes cause that issue.
I went to the mod directory the game tells me it is using, deleted all the mod folders (just to be sure), then started the game, asked it where the mod folder was, which it then created. I re-downloaded the file from the site, unzipped it and then popped just DS v0.22.4R+FWSP-RG into the folder .. still no check sum. Weird. I did go looking for possible other folders .. I found an appdata/local .. so I deleted that one ... re-did the process just in case .. same issue ... checksum 0.
Any thoughts before I do a uninstall/resinstall?? I am running the Steam client version.
