I am sure there have been many threads like this, and I understand it might be close to spamming, but since there's no other way to contact the developers, here is my version of it.
Congratulations on sticking with the game and congratulations on treating your client base the way you have treated them - us - since the launch of EWOM. When I prepurchased EWOM and shortly after, put it away at release, I could have never have guessed that 3 years later, I would spend a whole Sunday afternoon - and a good portion of the night causing me to droop at work the next day - with its successor, at no additional cost.
It wasn't that EWOM was unplayable or even unfinished. It was just a boring, bland game. The fact that SD acknowledged this as a deal breaker instead of saying "it runs, it plays, nothing to see here, move along" and decided to reimburse their clients in the best possible way, is a testament to the phrase of "putting one's money where one's mouth is".
I really hope your model of doing business keeps you in business, or even better, makes you an unprecedented financial success, just to prove to all the naysayers and "realists" that doing fair business is always good business.
Customer service is one of many good points this company has to offer.
I agree that both the game, company and staff are among the best. I especially respect the developper's and designer's skill and experience.
I became a "gamer" very early (Vic 20 and Amiga) and have played and enjoyed a lot of games over the past 30 years, mostly strategy, RPG and MMOs. After a long time I realized that the company behind a game is really important, both the attitude, design&game-balancing skills and ability to be flexible coupled with integrity. So I started to look for what company was behind a game some time ago (just as you might apply for a job because of the good company morale or a very good manager). In the MMO-genre I would like to also praise Trion which has done a great job around RIFT. (And say that Electronic Arts and Funcom failed utterly IMHO in many apsects.)
