Since the main criticisms of the pack are the lack of content and then even less content if we have to take out two items, I suggest an update for the Loot Pack. You could make funny items sov only and not appearing in the game (although the Lollipop would need to be toned down for it to not be too powerful for starters), so people could choose not to use them on any sovs and if no-one starts with them they would not be in the game.
Oh, and don't place so much emphasis on the Bunny Slippers/Giant Lollipop - if you advertised 50 useful items plus two funny items that are optional, 1. I don't think people would worry so much about the Bunny Slippers, and 2. people who are undecided might actually think 50+ useful items are worth $5.
community contests! sounds fun and a good way to spread word of mouth and what not.
So not worth any money, and I am tired of supporting this game (and other games) by buying DLCs that are not worth the time they take to download (on my 20MB connection) just for for the sake of supporting the game's developers. Won't be buying unless a lot more content is added. Seriously, how much effort went into this DLC?
It was a joke...
oh... well. colour me humourless. sry.
Ya know I see that Planetside2 now allows users to submit designs to the developers and if used in games the DLC revenue is shared. Stardock could considering doing something like that here or at least give credit to user designed loot, etc. That might spur some activity around new content. Imagine the possibilities!
Please don't change the bunny slippers, some of us haven't even had a chance to get them yet as we have a campaign already in progress. If people don't want them in their game, there is a mod created by Steven Aus that removes them. You can find it here https://forums.elementalgame.com/448124/page/1/#3395035
The bunny slippers would still be available for sov creation - they just wouldn't drop randomly in game.
Yes, but I tend to play with the built in Sovereigns and like the idea of the occasional silly item dropping in game.
I've just had the Slippers drop on me, but I ignored them because I liked my "Dancing Bard Shoes" better.
This sounds like an awesome idea and is as such practiced in the game Dota2 by Steam. Even though those items there are only cosmetics (aka "hats" like in tf2).
Same here
The loot pack is light on content. I'm a bit surprised there isn't more stuff for the price point. Not that 5 bones is expensive, but comparatively to what 5 bones gets you in the digital gaming sector, this DLC just doesn't pull its weight.
I do like what is in it though - except for the gag stuff. Mixing immersion and non-immersion stuff is rarely a good idea. Having an exclusive gag DLC would probably be a better way to go in the future.
I'm ok with the Blood God Armor. I think it adds variety; more of a breadth than depth addon. Perhaps if there were more items overall in the DLC it would be less of an issue for some?
Just my thoughts and feedback. Without this post, my purchase shows demand for the DLC 'as is', and I wanted Stardock to know that I'm not overly keen on this one. I bought it mostly to support you guys. You've been great to the players. I was surprised that I even have FE:LH for free, as I'm one of the ones who bought Elemental when it launched. I can't imagine many other devs out there who would do this. That generousity and commitment to continue the game's development and honour your fans is reason alone for me to support your efforts.
Just keep giving me more stuff to pay for please!
Make a monster rabbit that I can control.
For those of you who said you're don't think the Loot pack DLC is worth it, but bought it to support SD...
How low would you go, before you would make the decision not to purchase a loot DLC? For example, if it contain 12 items, would you still be willing to purchase it? Or if it contained 9 joke items?
I'm probably going to sound like a jerk, but here goes...As a consumer you vote with your dollars. If you purchase a DLC you consider to be substandard, you are effectively telling the company that it's OK to to release these less than acceptable DLC's..because customers will blindly buy what ever they pump out.
It could potentially opens the door for future half hearted efforts.
Back when Brad first mentioned going the DLC route, I asked that they not take after some developers who sell very anemic DLC's. By purchasing this DLC (if you don't consider it to be up tp par), you are giving them the green light to travel further down this path.
Hard to say. I do hear you though. I am a strong advocate of voting with my wallet. For me, it depends mostly on the publisher. I've never, nor will ever, support DLC, pre-release or pre-order purchases from the fat cats like EA, Activision, ubisoft, etc..
Stardock has earned my 'vote' though, but not indefinitely. I think it will also depend on if they continue to make tangible updates to the game (1.4, 1.5). These guys continue to commit resources into the base game, for free, so I kinda see the DLC's as a way of giving payment back. If they start to demonstrate greed by pushing DLCs out without updating the core game itself, I'd certainly change how my vote was cast.
Though my protests weren't as loud as most, I still haven't bought it - but not because of the joke items - rather because I'm still exploring a play-style that doesn't emphasize the striking power of individual champions, so loot is kind of a necessary evil to me right now. Spells, city improvements, enhanced talent trees, even more quests, more random events, more wildlands - I'd be on those in a heartbeat, but like the map pack, loot just isn't that interesting to me right now...
I bought it and I do not regret it.
I wonder if anybody would complain if there was more stuff. I mean there is never enough. People will always complain.
As for curse items and the gag ones. Bring more. I love the comedy relief and the diversity of stuff.
When I see those slippers I go to war!! It's that simple.
5$ is less than I pay for lunch at work. They are almost giving stuff away here. I'm not complaining. Keep them coming.
Guess you didn't read the thread or even look at its title before posting. If a fair number of us (myself included) hadn't literally said "if Stardock adds 19 items to this pack I will buy it", your argument about people always needlessly complaining might have been valid. In other words, if they added that exact number, not only many of us here would never have not complained in the first place, we would've happily bought the DLC regardless of any gag items.
Also a good thing to keep in mind -- the value of money and what something is worth is 100% relative. What you believe is "almost giving stuff away" may have zero relevance to someone else; even if it's 5 dollars. Neither one of us has any right to tell someone (on the internet no less) what they can afford.
You're trying too hard to belittle those who see things differently simply because you don't agree with them. Typically this technique just makes a person look desperate and disrespectful, rather than making for a strong argument.
