Progress
With the third alpha release, the Rebel Alliance has been added, meaning this mod can now be used to relive the Galactic Civil War as well as the current war with the Sins factions. The militia and pirates have also been replaced with Star Wars versions; now the vast majority of material on the game map is clearly from a galaxy far, far away.
Cool Cool. Thanks for the awesome answers.
Well when it comes to the Dark grey maybe use a Dark Red when it comes to re-searched like a deep garnet?
What if you just colored the exhaust trails / engine flame ? Yeah I know it's stretching the Empire was very blah... However, this might be one of these things you look at *shifting* from cannon a little bit ? I mean lets be honest I doubt any of the stock sins factions would paint blatant bright lines all over their ships for real lol
Don't know, problem is I don't just have all my Imperial research grouped together, there's stuff that will also be used by the Rebels in there too. And a handful of the icons (not many, but a few) are from either E4X or Vanilla Sins, so that would require changing it for everyone. I'm hoping making it darker grey will suffice (it seemed to work for the ships), if not I suppose its time to consider more radical options.
Aren't the exhaust trails already colored? I'm mostly using the Vanilla engine effects because making new ones are extremely low on the priority list and they're close enough for most ships (a few do need some custom ones someday though since they have weirdly shaped engines).
I meant color to match your player color choice likes if your yellow their yellow, green, purple and etc? That way you don't have to put racing stripes on a star destroyer so to say but, it still has the color you picked?
Uh yeah, last I checked the Vanilla exhaust effects they are doing exactly that.
There is an option to disable team colours so if that is set then all the exhausts will be white. Otherwise the default exhaust does indeed show team colour.
Right however, I didn't notice this happening on the Empire Craft.
Well, I've only gotten rid of it on the fighters. You should see it on the rest.
New lore entry to hold you over while the Rebels are being worked on.
o start the rundown of the Rebel roster in earnest, it seems fitting to cover the ship you'll likely build first, your colony capitalship. One of five Mon Calamari capitalships usable by the Rebel Alliance (all of them variants of the MC80), I've called this particular model the "MC80 Command Cruiser"; as all early Mon Calamari vessels were built to unique specifications I do not believe this particular variant has an official name. A well rounded vessel with particularly good endurance for its cost, the Command Cruiser was often the flagship of Rebel fleets thanks to its larger than average size, excellent carrying capacity and communications equipment. While it may not be able to take out a Star Destroyer one on one, it is also more than capable of defending itself with an array of turbolasers and ion cannons, as well as the usual compliment of A, B, X and Y wing fighters.
As an administration center of sorts for the mobile Rebel fleet, the Command Cruiser has the personnel and equipment on board to colonize new planets, establishing Rebel bases that will increase the planet's population and growth rate. The rest of the Command Cruiser's abilities are primarily defensive in nature. Its Heart of the Fleet ability can passively increase the defense of nearby ships slightly, particularly important as early Rebel ships are noticeably more fragile than most. It has the ability to launch a Cluster Bomb Barrage at enemy fighters, dealing heavy damage to groups of strikecraft. Finally, its ultimate ability, fortification, can heal and increase the maximum health of friendly planets while also boosting your ship's armor, ideal for protecting any recently colonized planets that are still threatened.
All right, I just want to say that I pretty much created this account to say that what a really good job that you are doing. This is pretty much most detailed mod for sins right next to Star Trek Armada 3, (though I do like sins of the prophets for its owns perks).
One question, when you talk about variants of the MC80, does that mean they will all look cosmetically the same?
Thank you.
No. It is just that in Star Wars canon, most of the large (1+ km) Mon Calamari Cruisers that were built as civilian ships and then converted to warships are called "MC80s", even though being Mon Calamari ships they are all supposed to be unique. Even Wookiepedia has 5 different canon MC80 designs, and I have models from games and other sources that don't match any of these, so really there ought to be more than that. And in my opinion, Home One and the MC80B are so different that they should really not be classified as MC80s at all.
In short, no all the Mon Calamari ships will have unique models (In total 8 different Mon Calamari models of all shapes and sizes). In fact the only ship the Rebels have that will be used for two different roles in the CR90 Corellian Corvette, as it serves as both the Light Frigate and the Envoy cruisers, the latter being a reference to Princess Leia using it as an "Ambassador Ship".
Your post also had good timing, I just revealed the second type of MC80 Cruiser, the Liberty or "Winged" variant. As you can see they are very different models besides being MC80 cruisers.
Look really cool Now that I delved deeper into the lore, will you be adding in the bulwark III into the rebel fleet as I don't see it in the planned list, the Bulwark III seems to make a good combat focused battle cruiser, if the's free space with all of the MC80s, Im also guessing that the Viscount will be a titan for the new republic? So what will be the titan for the rebels? It does seem that the rebels require a lot more effort into them since the rebels and the new republic have different capitals ships and with it, different tactics.
The Rebel Alliance has two capitalships that are not Mon Calamari Cruisers. As of now the Bulwark is not among them, mainly because it fits in a somewhat awkwardly in the unit scale. Sins units do not have any known dimensions, but the scale I've chosen for Star Wars units puts them mostly between 1-2km (most closer to 1km). The Bulwark is 2500 meters, nearly 1km bigger than an Imperial Star Destroyer, above which I'm reluctant to add without good reason. The only ship currently in the 2-5km scale range is the Allegiance Battlecruiser, which is only obtainable from Hero Units and cannot be built normally.
Basically, it is very hard to represent and balance a Star Wars unit at its canon strength as a capitalship when its larger than 2km.
Yup.
Home One. Like Darth Vader in the Executor is a titan for the Galactic Empire being commanded by a named character, the Rebels have Admiral Ackbar commanding Home One, just like at Endor. There is some debate as to just how big Home One is; I tend to side with the camp that says based on shots from Episode VI it is significantly larger than other MC80 cruisers and even Star Destroyers, likely around 3km. However the official canon stats always gave it roughly the same size as other MC80 cruisers, which I think is a result of the confusion of calling all these different ships "MC80s".
Yeah, the Rebels and New Republic will be more different than the Galactic Empire and Imperial Warlords are. A few of the ships will be shared but many of them will be unique to one or the other. Also whole sub-tech trees will also need to be faction specific most likely.
On the other hand, since in the lore the Rebels and New Republic are on the same "side", they can share hero units more easily than the Empire and Warlords can.
If I may, one of the things I've wondered was that how was the E-wind implemented into universe, and how will it work in the game in relation with the X-wing?
Basically it was a new general purpose starfighter introduced to the New Republic fleet maybe a decade after Endor. It's a bit more durable and faster than the X-wing I believe. In Interregnum it will be an Advanced Fighter and set up a little like the TIE Defender is for the Warlords. It will only be available on limited units like capitalships and titans, and unlike the normal starfighters on these units (like the X-wing), advanced fighters like the Defender, A-wing and E-wings cost various amounts of antimatter to build. So whenever an E-wing needs to be rebuilt by a capitalships, it will lose antimatter, and since this usually happens in battle it will take away antimatter you probably want for abilities. The goal is to try and encourage a balance of advanced and normal fighters, because a capitalship with all E-wing squads wouldn't be able to use abilities effectively in tough battles due to the antimatter drain.
Ah its that time of year again. The weather is getting colder, there's an ambient background of festive music, and modders are more generous than ever. Think I'm talking about Christmas? The New Year? Hanukkah? Of course not! It's mod of the year time on Moddb, and I'm here to try and bribe you for your vote like any good sleazy politician would.
So here's the deal. It has occurred to me I've not uploaded any screenshots of battles between the Rebels and the Empire. To rectify that situation, I'll be uploading a new screenshot every day for the remaining 7 days of the Mod of the Year nomination phase, as a sort of Advent Calender of "Pew Pew". Between them, those with sharp eyes will probably be able to figure out most of the Rebel fleet roster.
But it gets even better. To give you an incentive to support this mod beyond merely voting for it, I'll do the following depending on what place the mod gets in the final Mod of the Year rankings.
1. If Interregnum gets into the top 100, I will release a full faction report for the Rebel Alliance, including every unit they have and their most important unique traits.
2. If Interregnum reaches the top 5, I will add any Star Wars character the community desires (via nominations and a poll in the forums) into the mod as a bonus hero unit, provided the character is still alive after Episode VI and hasn't been killed off in Interregnum lore (I suspect Luke Skywalker or Admiral Dalaa will be among the most popular).
3. If Interregnum wins Mod of the Year, I will add the Super Star Destroyer Eclipse to the mod in the next update.
So if you like what you see or what I've promised, please vote for Interregnum for Mod of the Year!
Last year we got around to a release after it was already over, looks like we're doing it again.
I'd say good luck, but you hardly need it, you're sitting at 15 right now.
yep, as soon as I saw the moddb mod of the year, I voted for it, I don't even care for the personal reward but if there anything I can help out with, this is one of them
plus I've also ask all of my friends, even the ones that don't have sins to vote for your mod, I hope it helps out
The rankings on moddb have been fluctuating a lot more severely than usual. Usually the mod keeps above 200 even when I don't do anything, yet before I posted the new screenshot today it was at 400.
Speaking of which...
Awesome, thanks!
So sexy
I voted for you even before you bribed us! Lol jk good luck!
Hey goa any news on the next patch or beta version of Star Wars: Interregnum?
It will be hard to say until after the Holiday madness is over. If it turns out to be a productive holiday I might be able to give a date soon after the new year. If things get crazier than expected, it will probably take longer.
