It is a mod for sins of a solar empire rebellion that transforms the game into a star trek game.
The goal of this mod is to create a Star trek environment similar to the game star trek armada 2 featuring many of the same ships and factions.
What factions will there be?
At launch 4 factions will be available:
-United Federation of Planets
-Klingon Empire
-Romulan Star Empire
-Borg Collective
How accurate (canon) will the mod be?
Accuracy is a funny thing in Star trek, it tends to change after a few episodes, as a ship took 10 phaser blast in one it might be destroyed by a single one in the next season. That is why I have chosen to try to remain canon AS LONG as it doesn't interfere with gameplay and fun.
I want this mod to be fun to play and not be weirdly balanced that it may be accurate but unplayable.

Following a series of game breaking bugs found in late April, the mod has been entirely re-built from the ground up and progress is coming on well.
The game will include the four races mentioned above in the initial release, but a patch will follow including the Dominion as a playable race. As things stand, Both the Federation and the Klingon Empire Are close to completion, with only the research tree and some ship abilities to complete. The Romulans and the Borg are in mid-development at the minute. Check out our Pictures on Moddb on the link below!

The Game will include all new music, much of it remastered from previous Armada games. Please follow the link below to a news piece on moddb showcasing some of the music included in the game:

We've got all new neutral militia and pirates (The Orion Syndicate, of course) planned for the game. See below for some of our neutral militia in combat.
We're very active on the moddb page linked, so please follow and support the team on there also. Max, our project lead posts periodical pieces on the news thread. Check it out occasionally, you never know what you might find!

What are the biggest gameplay differences between this and SoA2? I've played SoA2 a bunch already and enjoy it too. I already know about titans, the lack of a Dominion faction (yet), and that certain ship classes are switched around (like the sabre being a light frigate). I also have no problem with how the Borg operate in SoA2 (I don't mind overpowered Borg).
"What are the biggest gameplay differences between this and SoA2?"
There are too many differences to list. They really are their own mods. You need to just let the experience unfold like a pretty flower; which your jack booted Klingon thugs then crush underfoot as they conquer the universe!

Is there a way to convert the entity file to text. if yes tell me how
Use ConvertData_Rebellion.exe, which is found in your Sins of a Solar Empire base game folder. The program is a command line application, meaning you have to use it from command prompt. It's base syntax is ConverData_Rebellion.exe <entity to convert> <name of output (it'll overwrite the existing file if the name is the same)> <format to convert to (bin for binary, txt for plaintext)>. If you do not know how to use command prompt, you can either look up a few tutorials on its modus operandi, or if you're really busy/lazy, there are a few pre-made batch scripts lying about on the internet that you can just double click on and they'll convert all entities in the folder they are in to text.
Can someone convert the entity file for this mod and post it. can't do it I'm no good at dos
there is also my textbin gui, and from memory a couple of other programs that use the convertdata's to convert between text and bin modes.

Hi all,I play Sins Rebellion via Wineskin on Mac OS X. Works fine and all, but it won't allow me to install the .exe version of Armada 3. Is there a zip version that uses the old fashion method of moving the folder to the Mod folder? I tried extracting the .exe file, but had no luck. Thanks

Hello there,
i was about to give a try to this mod, but it minidumped on me! The moment it was supposed to be enable itself, i saw the "loading screen" and then crash, did not even got to menu. I wonder if its cause i have the latest 1.82 BETA - the mod seemed to be built for 1.80...?
Anyway, i saw the ModDB site with upcoming Dominion screens and it looks awesome! As a lover of JemHadar ship design and those massive Cardie/Jemmie fleets from DS9 - me gusta. Great work, i hope this minidump issue will get solved by then, so i can give play that.
Few suggestions, observations i have, if you dont mind:
- on those latest screens posted on ModDB, showing Dominion Battleship/Titan, those bugships and regular Battlecruisers have wrong nacelle color - its basically blue. It should be purple, not the same purple like the one on the Titan nacelles (i would actually call that Magenta, rather than purple), but definitely not blue as on those screens.
Bottom line, JH ships used 2 colors, one of them is chosen fairly accurately, while the other is way off. Just a little nitpick
Then the other thing. i wonder if you are gonna take JH polaron weapons to take into consideration, their shield piercing ability i mean? If yes, i would suggest using the Phase Missile mechanic.
I hope that the regular JH Battlecruiser is going to be sized accordingly to be as big as Galaxy class.
Is the Dominion going to have access to Cardassian Orbital Weapon Platform? Are you planning them to be "powered" by some central structure and destructible in case in destruction of said structure? Is that actually possible to do?
Will there be a Terok Class station and will it be able to move? Like DS9 in the very first ep?
Nice idea to include that Cardie/Dominion super-starbase "sketch" from John Eaves. Even though i am not fan of non-canon stuff generally, this is bit different, since this one could technically be canon, but perhaps wasnt not on screen cause of the budget or something like that...
Thank you!
As a general rule, never EVER enable Steam to install updates to SOASE by default. Always make sure the mods you want to play will be compatible with the new version first, as there is no going back.
And don't ever use Betas, as no modding team will ever tailer a mod to work with a temporary beta version of a game.
It works flawlessly with 1.80 so try reinstalling your game and don't patch with 1.82 if possible.
Also: You need to enable the mod by copying the EnabledMods.txt included in the download into the mod folder. you can NOT enable it in-game.
Hi All,
I am having the same issue as robt7676.
I am trying to get the version to work on my mac, but cannot extract the .exe file. Can you please help me out.
Thank you

Hi,
I Don't normally post in forums, but had to congratulate you on an awesome mod.
been playing for two weeks now, the incredible models and the jaw dropping special effects have just blown me away.
The research tree, models, special effects are so Star Trek, the whole mod just oozes class.
I have been playing mods since Half-Life and this has to be one of the best iv played.
Two small observations the Pirates seem OP in the early game and the Defiant class don't fire forward guns but do lay mines. I am playing on Reb 1.82 so this may be the problem.
Looking forward to the Dominion arrival with great anticipation.
Thanks for a all your hard work and a great mod.
A3L.
What about soft cannon? Birth of the Federation game presents quite a few soft cannon ships. Also you could have Ferengi as a playable race which I would love.
I am so glad you're going for game play .. I do love SoA2. But it's mechanically horrible to play. I look forward to trying yours out.
How do I get this to work with 1.82 Rebellion?
Hello everyone!
Just wanted to stop in and say this is probably the best Star Trek: Armada mod I've seen in a long time. Kudos to everyone who has worked hard to put it together.
That being said, I hope a few issues are resolved in the next update, such as the tech trees inability to have any pattern
I did notice a slight graphical error with Borg Starbases. If they are built too close to a planet, this happens:

Cheers
It just downloaded to MODB!!!
IT'S AWESOME!!
thank you soo much guys you did an amazing job
just installed the mod, its awesome! Unfortunately it crashes me every time, after half an hour playing..
Sorry you are having trouble.
If you are not having any hardware issues then try turning down the graphics settings a level each time you start until it stops crashing. I've been playing with no crashes everyday since it came out. Did you use the Large Address Aware program?
Hope this helps.
Definitely love this mod but really bummed the 4 player Systems of War map is gone, when I played one of the releases I think back in March it was in STA 3 but now it's gone. My favorite map.
Playing as Fed. I'm enjoying it on "normal". But "hard" is kicking my butt. The Borg are spawning too close to me. I'm gonna try multi-star map to see if that gets me enough time to get my research and economy up.
Anybody with tips on how to kick Borg butt would be appreciated. (Looking at you Gul Dukat)
Have the Armada guys ever talked to the guys over at fleetOps.net about their ezEngine project?
When they are done it looks like they are going to have an Armada modder's dream environment. And I believe it's being written in C++ so it will be accessible by a lot more casual nerds.
Fun mod! Only comment is that the icons/ships seem a little bit too tiny to comfortably use at a high resolution (2560x1080) compared to other mods.
This is a fantastic mod, thanks to all the team involved in this - the quality, scope and attention to detail really makes this one of the best mods ever.
I am struggling with the difficulty though. I can only play single player as my gaming time tends to be frequently interrupted, and I've been struggling to set up skirmish games where I don't just get crushed.
I've been playing Sins for years and I got used to 5-7 opponents, most hard and few higher difficulty to make it interesting. Trying a few Armada games like this... well it wasn't pretty....
So I tried 4 opponents easy and the AI opponents seemed, well, easy, except the Borg still crushed my main fleet and 4 heavily defended systems simultaneously... hours of build up and the they rolled over me without breaking a sweat (do Borg even sweat?)
Anyway I guess I'm asking how people set up single player games.. and tips would be great.
Also, are the Borg just intended as a threat for people to co-operate against rather than an opponent faction for single player?
And finally, is there anything special I ought to do fighting Klingons? I had a maxed out out fleet, good mix of ships, good experience on the capital ships in an system with a fully upgraded starbase and all the defenses I could build when a similar sized Klingon fleet warped in (Normal AI). Goody, I'm thinking.... I get the AI to engage me near the Starbase and defense bases and by this point I'm practically rubbing my hands with the glee at the thought of the epic space battle and my inevitable victory. Crushed... they barely lost a ship... my jaw hit the floor (well, desk). So yeah, any and all tips gratefully received.
Awesome mod.
When you see a maxed out Klingon fleet, you do what we do. Run, you run your ass off.
