What happened to Global Warming?
When I put my first above ground pool in around the late 90's we were able to open it in April and start swimming in May.
Now my pool is just opened and still not warm enough to swim in
I'd like some global warming back...
Someone needs to tell the Trumpmeister that the existence of winter does not invalidate global warming:
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump
There's also some other humorous tweets on the topic found here:

No....actually I have a 'delete troll/spam' button....just not quite decided to use it.....
....yet....
Really....it's more like 'pissing into the wind' or 'falling on deaf ears' .... maybe even 'preaching to the choir'....
...but dang it it gets tedious....someone says something [anything] and a tome resplendent with a squillion links to god-knows-what is the assured response.
I'm rapidly losing confidence that this is NOT a bot spouting GW propaganda for nefarious ends....
I told The Donald.
OK, now that's out of the way.
Not little... this little fish took the bait perfectly.
So now its about the oil? Is this 2001 all over again?!?
It is, because your "science" does just that. It only shows the data that supports it claims, and then finds ways to discredit or sweep over the data that doesn't. How convenient.
And then there is this gem that Zombie so eloquently pulled...
If you leave enough data out, then you can support any conclusion you like.
Oh, and they STILL haven't rescued those stranded greenies trapped on that ship in the antarctic... due to blizzard conditions and too thick of ice. The irony is just... so... sweet.
Nefarious propaganda bots?!? Where can I get one of those?
Dunno...but I think you're feeding one right here...in this thread...
That quote tells me all I need to know about the state of your knowledge on climate change and it'S source. The main stream media. Apparently if you watch the main stream media their is this whole big controversy on weather or not climate change is happening and that is is being pushed by man made activities. That fact of the matter is that their is no controversy in the scientific community. 97% will say that the finding support climate change currently happening and being largely fuelled by man made activities. The controversy only exit in the mains stream media that spends 90% flat out lieing on command of their corporate matters. Also a funny thing is that all of the so called scientist that back in the day said that smoking did not cause cancer have now suddenly change fields from being medical experts to climatologist.
The same thing could be said of people that use to believe smoking was safe! how long did it take to overcome that hurdle because the parties that had vested interest in keeping the truth away from public knowledge so they could keep going on their merry way to the bank. Same thing is happening with climate change deniers today. Because when the truth becomes accepted and more wide spread people will change will become inevitable.
The resistance to the climate change is is fuel by resistance to change, refusing to admit our actions would cause harm and fuelled by our greed since we have setup our society to fuck each other over for a percentage. When the truth is inconvenient all to often we refuse to accept it and try to suppress it and pretend it doesn't exist. All to often people refuse to see or accept the truth until it is to late. It's a simple fact of our species that is further fuelled by the way we have arrange our society, however if humans are to continue to trive and move beyond the earth and survive this will need to change,
In closing notes, we are still a type 0 civilization on the were of becoming a type 1, however we have not been able to detect any type 1 civilizations yet, maybe because most civilizations never make it that far. If we are to make it, things that inconvenience us will need to be accepted regardless of us liking it or not. I'll just end here, maybe this will cause some reflection in some but I doubt it.
Good Day.
EDIT: Michio Kaku on Civilization
Except one can observe the obvious connection between tobacco smoke and health issues, while the evidence of "global warming" is not there.
Your analogy fails, along with your argument.
The argument is not if humans impact the planet, ALL creatures impact the planet in some way... the problem is measuring a system we still don't even understand fully. Give me a to the degree, each day, forecast for the next year's weather, then we can talk about the longer term. If you can't even deliver that, why should I listen to all this other crap?
The evidence is there and climatologist keep pointing to it. The more extreme weather that keeps getting more and more extreme is the clearest indication, glaciers melting, desserts expanding, the northern passage opening up for commercial passage possibly in the near future, the evidence is building up all over. From ice core, sea floor core, rock chemical analysis and so on. They are tons and tons of evidence.
For me speaking personally I can talk about the changes of the weather in my northern region of the worlds, winters being shorter and milder with lest snow fall, new plant species appearing in the environment who before could not live here, also incest and animals, migratory birds leaving later and coming back sooner then before.
As for predicting the weather for a year then you would need to know the exact position and state of every atom on earth and on the sun, plus know in advance about every action all humans and animals will take for the next year. The amount of information needed to do what you ask is simply unimaginable, what you asking is so ludicrous, its's amazing you fail to see how zanny that comment sounds.
EDIT: I was looking for a clip that explain exactly how what you asked was impossible to begin with couldn't find it but I found this and for now it does the job well enough.
No, the "evidence" is simply cycles of change that the Earth goes through. We have no bases to determine what is "normal" so how can we call something extreme? Your winters may be getting milder, but ours have gotten colder, and longer on this side of the world. The rest is simply adaptation changes or species invasion... which are not even part of the global warming credo.
My ludicrous statement is for just that effect, to show how crazy it is to believe that scientist can even possibly figure out what is going on... the data is too immense.
So what is the point, exactly of this global warming science then? I propose it is simply control. Control over the lives of humans by governments using science as way of inventing their own chaos.
Your level of understand falls very short of the line. The methods between between predicting the weather for next week and looking back at the pass and making corolation with what is happening today although similar in some places is very different since looking back and making corolations requires a lot more information. How ever collecting that information is not impossible. It is only time consuming, and we have been collecting that data for over 60 years now and a clear picture is being told from it. The climate is changing period! As for the reason it's changing everything points to human activity being the main factor behind it. But even then, even if we humans would not be responsible for climate change would that be an argument for us to do nothing about it? If the climate is changing should just sit back and watch as our species slowly gets wiped out and die off? So are you saying that we should just give sit back and die? Because in all honesty that is exactly what you are preaching in the end!
The end....it was so close......
And so the cycle continues...with the narrative of bumbling, corrupt scientists seen through and their lies pierced by the vigilant paladins of liberty and rational thought! Huzzah!
Thank you for that. These scientists kind of made sense for a while and I imagined they somehow knew what they were doing. But you have convinced me that it's just too complicated and they only want to control us. Fnord.
edit: deleted.
Ok fine, I'll not add more wood to the fire. I've deleted my last response as a sign of good faith.
So there is MORE information needed to plot the climate, globally, over that past millennium than to predict next weeks weather? Ok good, you agree here then.
How ever collecting that information is not impossible. It is only time consuming, and we have been collecting that data for over 60 years now and a clear picture is being told from it.
So? All this information, yet science can't predict the simple weather? Don't tell me it isn't the same, it is. You have to understand the effects of the sun, the earths crust, the general weather, the catastrophic weather, ocean dynamics, all kinds of things just to figure out one section of time's weather...
Yeah my level of understanding is just fine, I don't by "the end is near" bull.
The climate has always been changing, why must it be static? And why must humans be responsible? You then go to cover your ass by saying that "even if we aren't"... aka "even if we are wrong" (as has been the case with all these models that predicted a warming trend, yet we are in a cooling trend) we should do something about it. Why?
Ah, here is the why... extinction. Right. Cause we are so not adaptive to anything.
The only thing I'm preaching is that you all are drunk on the environmental kool-aid and need to wake up.
Didn't you hear? The end IS near!
Sorry Jafo, I guess I picked at the scab and caused some more bleeding... my bad.
Being adaptive will not help us survive. What do you think will happen when starvation sets in, when 7 billion plus people go hungry because the climate doesn't allow us to meet our needs. Think we will add band in together? What is more likely is that we will turn on each other and it will turn. Some will win some will lose, some will grow desperate.s Scorched Earth will be use and that will be it for human civilisation, back tot he stone age pretty much for anyone that might survive.
Michio in that video says me might see world that are irradiated or suffer from runaway greenhouse effect, he forgot to mention the possibility of both being more likely to be found together.
EDIT: BTW I'm not high on the environmental kool-aid as you've said it.
Not that I believe in this [man-made] global warming tripe... but it came to my place yesterday... 47c.
Air-con was running full-tilt all day... most of the night. Mongrel of a day!!!!
Myself, I blame large industry and power plants.
You seem bipolar now.... do you even have a stance on this? Can't have it both ways.
Oh, and hey starkers, it is -18 Celsius here and snowing an inch an hour over the past day. Can I have some of your warming please?
Global Warming is a misleading statement, leading people to expect it get hotter everywhere which is what you assume. It refers to the global annual average temperature. With a change of 1 or 2 degrees the environment can become unsuited to meet the needs of our species and society. Also global warming is a Media term, not the scientific description. The proper description is climate change. If you look at every thing I have been saying I have always used Climate change and not global warming.
My stance is that for the human race to continue to trive and to have a chance to move further into the future it is in our vested interest to ensure that the climate on this planet now remains favourable to us.
The way we are doing things currently is simply the wrong way if we intend to keep moving forward. People when having a discussion like to set a topic and stick to that topic and don't like to see the further implications pass outside even the implications are all tied together and can only be taken cared as one and not individually.
As for being bio-polar I am not. However unlike most that like to see and categorise the world as black and white to me it is a huge series of different shades of grey. But I won't get to into it. Would be too long.
You are quite welcome to my 47c .... I prefer temps in the lower C's, like around 15c to 18c... certainly lower than 25c, at least.
Me either, though I had a friend who was bi-polar. Yeah, told me his North Pole could lick his South Pole in the warmer weather.
It's 17 degrees below zero with a wind chill of minus 48 here today.
Pass the Global Warming, please. I need to thaw my water lines out.
haha wizard..........same here (-50 Celsius with wind chill) and I'm beginning to think my investment in a 'cooling pad' for my notebook was just a cruel joke......
My 'laptop' is plenty cold right now.....and all I own are desktops.
And you wouldn't want to put a laptop on your lap in such cold weather anyhow. Even when it is turned on the casing is likely to so far below zero.... and you know what extreme cold does to yer man parts, dontcha?
