So i would like your opinions as to how your browsing and Internet activity will change now that everyone is talking about the government collecting data on everyone from all companies?
for me i always knew that ultimately everything you say or do online will be somehow watched or someone will get access to it sooner then later, but for people who didn't know this (where to busy or too young) now, its a big deal for them ...
furthermore will peoples paranoia "of the government collecting data and if necessary using it against them " lead to less piracy in the US? feel free to drop your opinion in this post

I already figured they were listening. So no change for me.
I'll be sure to include "bomb" and "whitehouse" in more of my search queries...
For you, NSA, with love
BOMB WHITE HOUSE BOMB OBAMA BOMB WASHINGTON DC BOMB BOMB BOMB KENNEDY CONPSIRACCY BOMB AREA 51 BOMB
If there were a way to encrypt everything and still have it userfriendly (like everyone you're communicating with using the strongest encryption there is) I would always use it. If people only encrypt things they absolutely DON'T want the government to see then it makes it too easy for'em.
This is like in Deus Ex where the internet were hardwired into Area 51. Sci-Fi stuff becomeing real....oh man!
This makes it quite impossible to hide what you're doing online since you can't know who is listening. More annoying is that I don't get to know everything
I'll join the ride. BOMB! OBAMA! ALLAH! PRESIDENT! AL-QAIDA!
If Seleuceia and Campaigner are really interested:

I'd suggest removing those kind of words you gratuitously added to your replies.
Catching their interest (or not) isn't really a game. If for no other reason, at least consider the people you interact with/email/IM, etc.
Prism is about networks...so be nice to them, even if you really don't care about bringing scrutiny on yourseves.
I believe they're echoing a common sentiment Doc. With a government such as ours...who knows?? Dastardly deeds is something they're good at.
Sometimes it's just a matter of moments until someone feels the need to express themselves. Most of us though usually will exhibit a little bit of common sense in how we do it.
Yes, I know we have the right to voice our opinions and feelings. Unfortunately it is only after the fact, once the words are said, they some of us start to fully realize the responsibilities of our actions.
A number of questions in this video, a good answer to this one is in here. If the time link does not work, start at 15:47.

Corbette Report is by far my favorite source of alternate media news.
Quite frankly, the 'list' is a joke. Suggesting anyone needs to tiptoe around such a thing is to miss the point entirely. Either you're already being followed, in which case it doesn't matter anyway, or you're not, in which case the list is so over-broad (pork? really?) that its application alone against the entirety of the internet isn't going to produce any meaningful results. It's just a way for these 'analysts' (whose primary output, according to that article, is about as timely and useful as an RSS feed) to justify their employment.
"Do not feed the bears. They may be amusing from a distance, but once attracted to your campsite they tend to get serious."
From Doc's other thread on this (general) topic:
Pertinent, and as always a good read: Steyn
M. Stanton Evans’s Law of Inadequate Paranoia: “However bad you think it is, it’s probably much worse.”
Interesting how many people know what that program is about.
Well damn, I guess I need to catch some Pigeons...They're making a comeback....
technically if the NSA knows/ has dirt on every senitor and lawmaker in the USA, what prevents them from influencing the policy makers into their favor and eventually becomging the people in control behind the scenes?
After visiting some Islamic conversion sites and doing a google search for IEDs, I feel it is time to send all my pork back to Mexico...I also looked for some hotels in Pakistan, hear its lovely this time of year...
if you guys are seriously scared of using words on "the list" on the Internet, then it's obvious the government has the people right where it wants them: scared and controllable...
The bureaucracy is already in control of the government, why would the NSA need undue influence? We've had one president actually cut discretionary spending since FDR, and he only did it one year while increasing the size of the military budget by a greater amount.
If you're foolish enough to think there are no trigger words/phrases then Prism/Predator, etc. were built for you.
In any message there are only 2 things: Characters and the spaces between them. Figure it out.
Of course there are phrases/words. Therefore lists can be compiled. Whether they're current or not is open to debate. Their existence isn't since not existing wouldn't make any sense at all.
To write random words in a hope to trigger them is puerile. You already have. Now give it all a rest and go back to your games.
Something tells me they are less interested in words like 'bomb' and 'jihad' and more interested in words like 'patriot' and 'teaparty'.
Knowing about such lists and letting them control your behavior are two very different things...apparently a great many of you advocate the later, or at least exhibit it....
What's next? You going to be afraid to email your Muslim coworker in case "Big Brother" is tracking it, compiling lists, and making "associations?"...better use cash at that Persian cuisine, wouldn't want your credit card getting you "associated"...better yet, don't even eat at the restaurant next to the Islamic information center -- heaven forbid if a satellite saw your car in a nearby parking lot....
TEA PARTY TEA PARTY BOMB BOMB BOMB PATRIOT TEA PARTY MAD HATTER ALICE BOMB BOMB BOMB
It's okay though, I'm sure the feds will be knocking on my door any minute so you won't have to worry about me making any more posts...
I'm surprised people didn't know this was happening ... nothing to see, move right along.
It won't effect everyday people, but ... it will be a problem for anyone getting notice by the government. Activist, journalist, someone of a different political ideology or just a named person who has the media ear. The US government is not above throwing mud, its all stored for later use ...
Don't forget your mobile phone is leaking your GPS, just saying ...

OK...it's a poo link...but indicative all the same....
J. Edgar's (other) wet dream.
There are flashing lights outside my house and someone is knocking on my door, so this might be the last you hear from me...
Tell my dog I love her, and Cardinals for the win!
yeah, that list is just a troll job. if they were capable to get real results from that those folks would work for Google.
also i have a hard time believing that the industrial espionage and sabotage agency would waste it's resources with searching for "pork", "jihad" or "tea party". there are other agencies for that.
still, your data as your money (remember Cyprus) might be safer in Russia.
To put on my remind list: do not talk about the bombs on Facebook.
Really?
As always you should be far more worried about what they aren't telling you, than worried about what they are telling you. Skype/Google/Facebook is monitored? That's not news. That's a given (a "bad" given, but still).
I'd be more worried about the fact that I happened to stumble upon a child porn site in 2007. Of course it was a mistake and nobody ever contacted me or anything. But now it's in their logs. And maybe 10 - 15 years from now they happen to need something from me. Maybe a friend is a suspect - maybe my whole company is shady. Only now they got me real good, because I absolutely do not want to go to prison for viewing child porn and so they apply the pressure. Or maybe I just happen to become too vocal about their shady business but I can't now, right? And that's a dictatorship.
And if you think that can't or won't happen, you haven't been paying attention to the countries where it did happen just like this. But don't worry about it because 'MURICA is different. Except you've got a president who is actually defending this. Yeah, I'd be worried too, if I was an American.
Let's see. Secret laws you are not allowed to know about. Secret courts making calls on behalf of the government. Yes, stupid population, why aren't you looking at the details? Well, you fucking well can't, can you?
Personally, what I'd want done:
defund and dissolve the TSA- let individual airports decide security.
Require warrants for any snooping of Americans or potential Americans. Allow exception only from a judge in case of actionable medium-term or less threat to commit a major criminal act.
For citizens to refuse to convict based on these laws as they are unconsitutional. If citizenry refuses to convict on laws, eventually they'll stop trying.
