1) Check out the undead faction in Children of Storm, they have a convert spell like that.
2) Changing models isn't possible.
I'd need an improvement to do random stuff: either x or y every season... an idea ???

I was wondering if an item could give the player an AbilityBonus when it is used (equiped) for the first time. And if so, can that AbilityBonus be hidden from the player? I really like the idea of customizing nearly everthing, but the options to customize units are - let's be honest - limited at best. The are no real choices to be made except for the upgrade tier. For instance I wouldn't choose the crude shortbow for my archers if I allready aquired the Advanced Archery tech and use Ram's Horn Longbow. As unlocking all equipment through research would take the fun of exploring the world with your heroes I thought about some way of unlocking the items for unit customization and purchase in city shops after I found them with my heroes.
So is there any way to give the player an ability during the game? If so, there would be some awesome thing as you could use these abilities as prereq flags.
Totally OT, but it does seem like this game has become less active right now - as has the modding community. I presume most have moved on to SK or something else?
I think that every one is waiting for the new patches...
The game was released almost two years ago and almost nothing has changed in what we can mod. It's played out, more than anything.
If you go by the steam charts, FE:LH is still dramatically more popular to play than SK. Of course SK is still in Early Access, so take from that what you will.
I think that had there been another expansion or more patches we would have had more interest perhaps.
Realistically, the mod community has probably done everything it could have.
My big wish is that SK had been a bigger "leap" compared to FE LH - comparable from GC2 to GC3. I kind of which that the game was 64 bit and a few other things that were completely novel.
There is still both coming.
They really have been great.
SK isn't the follow-up to FE:LH, it is a fork where they are going for a slightly different game style.
Should I move this discussion off to a separate thread, seeing that we are taking up one dedicated to modding?
I've been trying my hand at modding LH by making a race and faction and so far been going pretty well except for this one minor thing.

In character creation, he green highlights stay on even if the item is no longer selected. I can still pick the parts I want and play the game but I'm wondering causes this. It only affects the skin and eye selection, everything else seems to work just fine and I already redid the Skin and Eye xmls for the race several times.
Make sure you have unique internalnames for the skin and eye texture definitions, I think that causes this.

I tried to play a game today after a long hiatus, and was surprised that MaxTotalTileYield and MinValidTotalTileYield have no effect. Tried as a mod first, than edited Elementaldefs in a game folder - no go, it stays as 6/9 I am pretty sure this worked before, did they disabled it in 1.8 or what?
Also, ExpBaseOnPointsToLevelUnit seems not having any effect either, i dont remember if i every tried to change it before, but there are older mods on nexus that fiddle with it so its probably worked too.
P.S. It did crossed my mind that i am editing a wrong file or something, but changing SovereignCreationCustomizationPoints did worked, so thats not a case.
I reinstalled the game and its now works. Mysterious really, because i ran a string search on MinValidTotalTileYield to be sure i dont have any leftovers from mods and the only other file with it was elmenatlsdef from FE scenario.
I want to make mod to introduce my dream-faction of undead (Probably with Wraith Blood)
1) Are there any guides?
2) How to do, as selectable nation perks (best if they all are 0 cost, so I can just toy with them around):
Eternal Sleep - No natural people gain
Dead Rising - People gain per death shard + max effectivness slave lord (Yep, this one is like in undead from DLC, but my guess is that it's hard-coded, and I don't have cash to get that DLC, I got the LH as gift)
They are Endless - No people limit in cities
Use all you got - Production gain per grain (Best if 50% ratio, 4.5 production from perfect 3/3/3 tile would be cool)
Some of these could be fun to play with even without roleplay. "Use all you got" is probably worth 2 points due to how well it could accelerate city growth in normal factions.
