Not a big surprise that they do a new GalCiv now, but perhaps strange that IGN confirms it before Stardock has even announced it?
Strange as in unreliable!
I don't think it would be any surprise if they did- but that hardly qualifies as an announcement. Looks more like a placeholder.
I think SD is gonna do GC 3 eventually, but I wouldn't believe anything unless Stardock announces it themselves. SD wants to do things in 64 bit now, and if another GC is made it must be 64 bit.
Indeed, and with multiplayer too. After reading about all they gonna do for multiplayer in Europa Universalis 4 (a game that take ca 100 hours + to play from finish to end) it should prove that MP has a purpose for epic strategy games. Sales will show how people just loves it as well.
I know, my headline was perhaps abit tabloidish.....
I hope when they do make GC 3 that it feels alive. I find I can't play any other space game since Distant Worlds. DW just feels so alive with all kinds of things going on. Plus the new expansion is awesome.
I was right!
Lies! Everyone knows that 4X games are dead!
The 4X game is dead! Long live the 4X game!
Not just 4X games, but PC gaming is completely dead ... and for that matter, the PC itself is dead!
Oh, man... Again? I still never got over the last few times it died. I had to drown my sorrows in new PC games on a new PC.
PC gaming has died even more often than WoW has been killed.
Yes, and to show our respect for a time honored friend of the community, the dearly departed 4X game, we should hold a memorial service ... Oh, wait, never mind! Already held one eight or nine times already. "never mind"
PC been dying for quite long time. Guess it has a lot of necromancy-practicing supporters.
Its been dying for so long it gave birth and came back to life.
Funny Brad. The announcement for Galactic civilizations 3 has been announced ever since 2009. I thought the game was dead when Sins of a solar empire came out then I found the Ultimate edition, I pretty much dropped Sins after that. Right after Sins I tried Spore that was a mean joke someone played, or Pc gaming is really podunk. Someone was probably playing a mean joke asking about Galactic civilizations 3 right after you came out with Twilight of the arnor.
As for console gaming it doesn't make sense to me. If I Didn't have a computer then I might want some other medium, To begin with it is more flexible. you can do more than just play games even if you don't have the internet. This world thinks you can't use a computer without the internet. If you don't have good enough hardware you can make your computer better withowould ut buying a new one. You can always make he computer your way. The problem with computer gaming is software not hardware; unless, the computer users don't want better computers, so we shouldn't blame the computer when people don't want better machines. Lets really take a look at video game console prices. It's not that the consoles are superior to the computer. It's that the console people are willing to pay more for consoles than what computer users are willing to pay for computers. Not to mention technology is supposed to drive down prices on older hardware, so the new hardware relatively stay the same price that the old hardware used to be. This is basically true for the computer, but not for consoles prople are paying $500 for what they used to pay $56. While on the computers people are paying $300 when they used to pay $1100. If you noticed I took into account the change in technology. This is why computer gaming can't dye.
This is why Laptops and desktops are superior to other models. First I noticed that the Netbooks and Ultrabooks are underpowered and don't have Dvd players. The desktop is superior to any of that touch crap that they keep shoving at us. They keep scaling down the computer. While telling us that we would rather not be able to use our computers, so they don't crash. They are trying to turn computers into calculators, so they don't crash.
I wrote this not taking into account the official anounce ment of Galactic civilization.
Frogboy is joking I know.
I don't even know how to name this phenomenon... Probably bad medical qualification of persons who declared PC dead?
It's not software or hardware, it's meatware - programmers are so lazy they don't want to optimize their code. Well, maybe that's not exactly correct - programmers do want to optimize their ideal code eternally, but that's the different area.
Sliced bread is more expensive than ordinary one, so if they don't want to have any additional adjustment, they pay more. Sort of "I want it cool right now" button.
Joke is, that even if we want to do some adjustments, it's not working, because games are created for common lowest denominator - that's consoles.
I think it is kind of sad that programmers will make games for multiple gaming platforms, but not for computers. Or that game places will not sell games for the computer, or that the stores that will are currently shrinking down their sections People are saying the Xbox is better than the computer when in reality it is not after a year it has come out.
I Think that since the computer would be a better avenue for gaming considering it is all around a more flexible piece of technology. Even if a lot of people don't take advantage of its potential.
Unfortunately it's not up to us to decide where to go. Consoles, apparently, are profitable, and so far casual gaming market covers the expenses. Problems are that we have paymium model on horizon, so devs/pubs has no wish to alter their model of work, the only thing they could come up with is to force us pay more. Even we won't, casual gamers will - and there are too many of them.
