As you probably know, we have released the WindowBlinds 7.90 beta today. Please use this thread only to report any issues that you come across that you'd like to report.
Note: Current beta is only for active Object Desktop subscribers. Info about upgrades for current WindowBlinds (non-Object Desktop) customers will be available at a later date.
Are you running any other applications which may do something inside explorer? Anything to add a start button in Win8?
Also what Antivirus / Antimalware software are you running?
I'm using Stardock's Start8 to give me back the start button. I'm also using Virtual CD v10 - maybe it does something to explorer since it adds extra options to the right click menu for drive icons. As for Antivirus I'm using Eset 6. Originally I was unable to get WindowBlinds to start but your fix to the settings for wbcore.exe fixed that problem. I found I also had to exclude taskmgr from WindowsBlinds if I wanted it to appear. The UAC popup window also wouldn't appear.
When I apply color, texture or background, the title bar disappears. I have to use the default settings. How can I correct this issue? Thank you.
You are not using anything from Comodo too are you?
Which skin are you using? This doesn't sound normal.
Response to reply 129:
I'm using nothing from Comodo
Further update for my desktop system:
Dragon Age II keeps randomly skipping out of fullscreen mode into Windowed mode until I added it to the applications/do not skin list. This seems to most frequently happen if I click anything near the screen border. Will test with other games to see if it is a general DirectX fullscreen thing or not.
Windows 7 64 bit. WB 8 Beta
Start menu animations not working on secondary monitors.
Tested:
Vaporglow
RPM
MRX Reloaded
Also running DisplayFusion.
This just in! If you hover the cursor over the start menu, secondary, the animation will pop in. But not just by clicking the start button.
On my windows 7 x64 home premium, when I apply color, texture or background, the title bar disappears. The title bar is showing on any skin until I apply the aforementioned. I have not tried this on my windows8 pro yet. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
Mr Banfield,
Ive been using Comodo for years with no problems. They have the best Internet security out there.
I ran into problems with this Beta WB and Comodo, so I uninstalled Comodo I.S. and went to default windows 8 Defender security.
Windowblinds runs fine with it.
HOWEVER, I have now tried Panda Cloud I.S., Avast I.S. and Comodo I.S. ALL of them have problems with Windowblinds.
Hence this is a problem with Windowblinds, not with the security software being used. Fix your software please.
It's rather foolish to force a person to change antivirus software to "fit" your program. 3 out of 4 I've tested have had problems with Windowblinds. I think the faulty party is being presented here.
This is clearly a Stardock problem.
I have a problem that if I change the show desktop button
under the task bar section it doesn't change it fully.
it is pulling the image from the Edit Controls section- Button image
Here is an image to show you what I am talking about
OK so I am making my skin.I go to "Theme part details" in SKINSTUDIOIf I click on Normal style MenuBars or click on Favorites menu or Popup Menusthe window comes open and than SkinStudio force closes as soon as I move my mouseI have iconpackager, fences, and windowblinds 7.90 installed64 bit osWindows 8
Apparently, after applying texture, color or background to a skin, a reboot is required to get the title bar back.
How do I uninstall an old version of Windowblinds and other stardock software that says I must use impulse to uninstall it? I uninstalled impulse when I downloaded the new stardock central a long time ago. Thanks!

Warning: this will delete any installed skins/themes for the component when used to uninstall that component. Back up your skins.
Is there any chance you guys can add a option into windowblinds 8 to not skin the start menu. I use startisback as my startmenu replacement and unable to use it. When a windowblinds skin is applied, the startmenu gets chopped up. I would prefer to use it over start8. It would be nice for that feature to be added in the next beta version. Thanks! Now for the bugs.
-I seem to have an issue with chrome maximized. The frame goes off by quite a few pixels. (Goes away over time it seems)
-Desktop icons have classic selection rather than aero style selections.
WB 7.91 on Windows 8........ icon in systray does nothing at all. Right clicking it and clicking either option also does nothing.
Hi everyone,
I would like to point out some of the issues I am facing with Window Blinds 7.91. I am using Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and here are some of the issues I am facing:
1) Title bar fonts are slightly out of position with some skins -e.g Precision Theme
2) Re-sizing of windows will cause some weird graphical problems on the interface of some programs
3) Some icons on right click menu would disappear after changing to WindowBlinds themes - Does not happen with default Aero.
4) Graphical glitch on the address bar of Google Chrome ( Happens randomly anytime)
I have summarized the above problems with a simple screenshot in the link below:

Thanks everyone!
Could you be more specific about issue 1 please. I am not seeing anything wrong with the titlebar fonts in that screenshot.
Which theme are you using? Is chrome set to use its own theme vs the OS one?
Regarding that startmenu, it looks like it is being cropped so only the bottom left area of the menu shows?
Sorry for not going into detail. I meant to say that the title bar text was not aligned to the center position of the title bar as the default aero theme would. From the screenshot, the title bar text was seen to be positioned slightly to the left.
Positioning of text is determined by the theme. Many themes have text left aligned, there are even some which use right aligned.
I think what he might be saying Neil is that the text positioning on the titlebars in Windows 7 and Windows 8 is different, a little off.
Another for instance is the start menu, places panel. When the text is horizontally positioned perfectly on Windows 7, if you load the exact same skin in Windows 8, the right margin of the text is shifted inward (left) about 4-5 pixels, and the end of the separator image is extended to the right about 4-5 pixels and is no longer centered horizontally as it is in Windows 7. This even occurs on the current (latest) WB8 beta release.
I've tried WindowBlinds 7.91 and still no luck. The desktop icons and taskbar disappear and the desktop goes totally black. I'm running Windows 8 64bit Pro. Eset 6 (with the configuration change to allow wbcore.exe), Outpost Pro 8, Office 2013, Start8, WindowFX 5.
Hardware is AMD 8350 CPU, 7850 video card (catalyst version 13.4), razer keyboard with Synapse 2.0 drivers.
