Wow, This looks really good check it out!!

There are a couple other threads about it bouncing around somewhere, but yes, it is fun, check it out
Is this game Campaigns only or is there a sandbox mode? If it's only campaigns, I'm not interested.
Sandbox with up to 16 players.
Eador is a very good game. The only issue is it doesn't play nice with Steam resident (just turn it off). Something to do with conflicting dll.
the 'campaigns' such as they are, are a kind of mega sand box on top of everything.
Really there is no 'campaign' in the sense most people understand the term.
Since its based on Eador:Genesis, which is GREAT, expect this game to rock!
I just wish someone did the same to Dominions 3
oh, dominions 3. if stardock would jkoin them for dominions 4????
Agreed!
Eador: Genesis is great fun, and Eador: Masters of the Broken World is going into second phase beta in a day or so. Essentially the same game, a few tweaks, but some excellent changes to the graphics, including moving to 3D. You can find videos of both on Youtube.
Put Dominions 4 on kickstarter and I will throw money at it!
I just signed up for Beta #2 I can't wait to get a hold of it.
Just preordered on steam
Eador: Genesis reminds me of a cross between HOMM, Dominions 3, and MOM. However, it is very hard for a new player even on the lowest level of difficulty. I know - that's where I am. But the sandbox mode is a lot of fun. Lot's of hidden depth.
I understand that the new game will be very similar but with more modern graphics and a shorter campaign (the current one is very, very lone).
If you need some strategic help, Xaltotun, feel free to ask. I've been playing the game quite a bit, and though I'm hardly an expert, I'll do my best.
Thanks. I have started several sandbox games but have not finished any yet. Main issue is typically money. I tend to make the first hero unit a fighter and the second a wizard.
Other issues involve the fact that there is currently very little documentation. I figure out the building tree by manually back tracking in the building tool from the items that are required for what I want to build. It is difficult to keep the provinces happy. Quite a few events call for payment for some reason or other. Keeping a reserve to cover that tends to fight with what's needed to build up enough of a force to go beyond the first ring of provinces around the home territory.
Any advice on how to keep the money flowing better?
It's a good game, tactical combat is it's strength and is a lot superior to FH.
It does lack the depth in empire building though of FH, it's more like a deeper challenging HoMM.
In the early game, you make money through rewards in battle. I always start with a wizard or commander, and as the first, I use my money to push for getting my wizard to fireball. For the latter, I simply focus on getting the best second or third tier troop I like. Always set yourself an important goal that will raise the power of your combat stack. Think longterm. Once you get a powerful enough stack, grab a local county or two. If it looks like the inhabitants re going to get angry over time and you don't have the buildings researched to calm them down: oh, well. You'll just conquer them, once more. More challenge and experience for your stack.Always explore your home county thoroughly first, because that's where the lowest level challenges can be found. The next level up will be with any county bordering yours, even if just a bit. Those levels of difficulty increase with every county border that intervenes between your home county, and the one you plan to explore.
Note where you start, and what's rare. If the surrounding counties are heavy on crystals but light on money, fund buildings that give you more money--and vice versa. If your counties are relatively balanced, and you're running a wizard hero, go for buildings that increase your crystal supply; a warrior hero, go for buildings that increase your gold. Typically, I've found warriors to be good in the early game, but problematic later on, when you face off against lots of spellcasters and the like. But it's up to you, of course.
Don't hesitate to sell things you don't think your first and second hero will ever use. You'll always find more in combat. On the other hand, save rare things, such as banners, or high level pieces of equipment with enchantments. Unless you get multiples of these, of course.
Hope some of that helps.
Thanks, Glazunov1, I will give your method a try. The game is a lot of fun.
It certainly is fun. It's simpler than many similar games out there, but it does a lot right.
Looks like they've set a price for the forthcoming game: $20 US.Which is actually pretty damn good. They're due to enter a third beta shortly, and may have to push back their original release date, but the product really looks great and plays well.
Sorry Glazunov1 but your advice is not that good. Money and XP are two resources in this game. Crystals are always in abundance unless you play wizard as 1st char and spam spells. Best play is the one that produces most money in least turns. Exploring your province first is a waste or turns. Human provinces are easy targets, so are barbarian ones. Orc ones as well as well as Undead ones. Those you should conquer as soon as possible. More provinces = more money. You also fight there and get xp. The exploring part will be there for you later when you conquered all easier targets. That money does not go away, but all the money you lost per turn because you didn't conquer provinces is lost money.
First off: money and crystals are the most important resources you find in the game. Experience isn't a resource.
Second, "crystals are always in abundance unless you play a wizard," isn't accurate, because some buildings and non-wizard heroes also can end requiring a lot of crystals. And no, crystals aren't always in abundance. My last game about three plays back had no swamps within the first ten provinces I uncovered. Crystals were very difficult to come by.
Third, your advice not to explore your home province with your weak starting forces and inexperienced hero flies in the face of the company's own English language forums. Exploring and fighting in your own province literally brings in the best return by far in gold in the early stage of the game over attacking other provinces, since they're the easiest battles you face, and you get gold at roughly a ten to one ratio compared to the property owning bonus you get each turn for additional provinces. Getting more gold as quickly as possible was the reason for the question, just in case you missed it. You need a gold boost heavily at the beginning of the game, to fund buildings as quickly as possible.
Anybody is welcome to go over to Snowbird's forum and ask for good advice:

beta keys are being sent out this friday.
Would be nice, though there have been repeated delays in getting these out. I'd rather see the game at a good stage, then at a poor one, so if it takes longer, that's fine with me.
Anybody who wants the beta should consider adding their name to the beta sign-up thread in the forum.
Looks like the date for the third beta has been pushed back. Not for the first time; so just don't hold your breath. Sign up if interested, and do something else in the meantime.
It depends on your playstyle obviously, but for newer players, I wouldn't recommend a Wizard start. IMHO, the most efficient start is Warrior. You only need one building and you can throw some cheap armor on him and usually be able to take at least one province within 1-2 turns. Exploring your home province should be secondary to securing as many provinces as you can as fast as you can. Skip straight to swordsman and healers as the other tier 1 units are a waste of time and money. Once you can't win provinces, then focus on exploring and leveling your hero. Crystal quests are key early game. Focus armor over damage on the warrior. having the fastest start is in my experience, the absolute most important thing. Oh yeah, build mills whenever possible and any city buildings that give you income.
