No, DA definitely only does damage while draining AM...nevertheless, DA is not why I mentioned the Radiance...radiance has pretty decent focus firing compared to the other Advent caps (like prog, for example) and is one of 3 good leads for the Advent (prog and halcyon being other 2)....
I never tried that opening, so that's why I assumed you wanted to say the Detonate antimatter stuff, but maybe sometime I will try and see how it turns out, the focus fire of Radiance.

To be clear, you want to pick the Radiance as your lead because it has detonate AM (very useful against MB)...but, when going against an Orky early game it is going to be slightly better than the prog because of the better focus firing (not because of DA)...
Now, I say that primarily because 1) most early Orky rushes don't have lots of frigate support so malice won't help too much and 2) I usually pick fighters over bombers for my squadron on the prog...if you were to pick a bomber squadron though on the prog, then it would probably do more damage than the radiance while at lvl 1 (though once the radiance gets it's own squadron at lvl 2, it would be favored again)....
OK I got it from the previous replies, I haven't really done much testing on Advent starts, especially against Vasari, but I believe what you say.
If you save your point on the progenitor, shield restore keeps your disc's alive for a long time if the star-base manages to get up though.
Malice works better because when you FF SB it will deal DMG to any supporting ships
It depends on the stage of the game, but I think the really early Orky rush isn't going to be coupled with too many supporting ships, and that's the time when Orky rushing is really brutal...
It is still a cheap and easy to implement strategy that offers high reward (potential lethal damage to an enemy) for very litte in risk and low cost.
sb rushing will always be a pain and frigates alone cant save u from a player who uses mines to defend it.
Yes Riddleking...because in the first 5-15 minutes (after, you know, you got your titan) you'll be swarming your enemy with mines....
