Entered Heuristics in Windows search Characters from SP mods that I played came up that were never in the multiplayer game. I have everything documented. I dont feel too bad a little blown away by the (lack of) real evidence.

In what search field? Where? If you googled 'heuristics' and some old files you have on your hard drive came up that would freak me the hell out and I'd probably swear off the internet. Are you saying you turned on heuristics and your antivirus software flagged your old files (that you know are clean) as viruses?

You should know that some malware alters existing files instead of making new ones. hope you have a backup, because you need to get rid of the infected one.

No its when insurmounting evidence points to anothers tomfoolery. When the screw comes loose all thats left is wasted time. Even if well investigated and worth a couple hours. Reran my malware its all good no remnants. Other programs out there to check these things and follow the file paths. Had a similar one that I removed that I mentioned to kbroke the file properties were written in Russian (greek). This is an offshoot of that or they have a lock on my pc from past visits to prawn or vasari sponsored websites.

                     So, you're agreeing that the malware/virus/trojan/whatever is coincidental?

dgdgs or whatever the name of the file is. It is the same thing as the Russian file. My main firewall confirmed that when researching the file via the firewall. The other 6(?). There was only a record of 2 of them I deleted the firewall logs adter browsing them today. Im betting they are related to the prons. Not sure dont care. They really are just a nuisance. pc runs same as ever. Nothing like a fresh install of windows to improve performance and to remove programs not used anymore if Im wrong the backup drive has the same programs so its no good anyway. Work pc is not compromised.

This sounds like a bad plan and probably the cause of your miscommunications.
