You have a group of (or containing some) champions and open the shop/trade window. Then you navigate to the next champion using the small arrows. His/her weight and encumbrance are not updated unless you unequip and equip some item.
This is a small but very annoying issue. You decide to buy an item for this champion to give some benefit without increasing the encumbrance - only to realize afterwards that your calculation was based on the data of a different champion.
Sorry, this is not the normal behavior as I thought. (Only the weight of the second champion on the trade screen, who takes the place of the shopkeeper, is not updated, but this is much less of a problem.) There is no use looking into this unless I can reproduce and document the behavior.
EDIT: The observation was valid, but not in this generality. See below.
One thing to keep in mind is that the weight display has a feature that can be more annoying than helpful.
If you select an unequipped item (select only, not equip it) the champions load bar will update to show what it would be if you *did* equip that item.
Only the bar will do this and it's shown with a slightly shaded bar but it can be hard to spot. If you look at the actual numbers by hovering above the weight display you will still see the true load.
When you switch champions often some unequipped item gets selected and thus its weight added to the champions load.
In order to get a true reading click on an item that the champions in question is already wearing to make sure no unequipped items is in the mix.
When you trade (have two champions displayed) selecting any item for champion 1 will also updated the load as described above for champion 2 to make things more confusing. This can be helpful of course to see if it's worth trading an item between champions.
This is very true and helpful. (BTW it seems that the UI in general was designed for lower screen resolutions and does not adapt properly. When you are at 1680x1050 or similar, some controls are just too small and some colors very difficult to distinguish.)
And, although that was not what really confused me, it apparently pointed me to the missing link! As soon as you select some item either in Shop or in Trade, and then switch the champion in the top half of the screen, his/her weight will no longer be updated. (Shall I make my original text readable again?)
I am going to agree with the OP. I will watch closer what I am doing and what I am seeing, but I would have agreed with everything in the OP before there were the strike outs. If there is some too-small-to-see indicator on my screen, then as far as I am concerned, it doesn't exist. I end up fiddling with selections over and over again or else accidentally overloading one of my champions and getting irritated yet again. It is a wonderful game, but I don't play it for the irritation value.
