I am playing one of the new maps against AI - just the two of us (real cosy).
Their Titan (Ankylon) and my Titan (Eradica) are having a long fight. They keep sending ships to support it but my Titan is on its own with no support at all. My Titan (level 10) keeps destroying their ships, their Titan keeps levelling up. I thought you only gained experience when enemy or third party ships were destroyed NOT when your own ships go boom.
Is this a glitch or can the AI buy level ups for their Titan or can they gain experience when their own ships are destroyed?
Are you sure you had no ships in the gravity well?
Also, was he destroying any orbital structures or mines?
Are you sure he wasn't destroying fighters or mines?
Strikecraft are a great way to level up
Another possibility could be trade ships (can't remember if they give XP or not)....but SC here is definitely a culprit, lvl 10 Eradica has what, 5 or 6 squadrongs? And since titans don't use AM to rebuild SC, they'll be rebuilt pretty fast, so free XP for your enemy...might want to dock them....
Any way to make them use antimatter? (different question)
Through an ability perhaps...it would be ugly though...
Way to abuse this thread
And... you know better than to ask this question. The AI would hardly use abilities during battles if it needed AM to generate SC!
squadTypeEntityDef:0 "SquadPhaseCombat"squadAntiMatterCost:0 0.000000 <----------- modify this line.
If you're still wanting to nerf titans boshimi don't worry, I'm working on a little Christmas present made especially with you in mind.
Dammit Ryat, I was really hoping Boshimi would believe me....
I know the AI is cheating
I killed their titan , 5 minutes later they came back with another titan level 7 !!!!
So the AI can level their titans , wich takes you hours .. he did in like 5 minutes and i was playing 1-1 , so there was no way he could get any experience by battle.
This realy ticks me off and it also happens with capital ships
also easy game doesnt seem to be easy , they still go faster with their building , research and whatever.
No matter how hard i work , i cannot get my starbase to max within minutes build new from scratch .. seems the AI can for some stupid reason.
I dunno how the AI works ,, but for sure its not fair looking at time and resources / income how they manage to level and build things within minutes while it will take you over a hour
The AI on hard+ does cheat, but this is not part of it. Titans always come back at the level they died at, including yours! They're like hero units in some other RTS games.
The AI simply buys levels on capitalships, which you can do to. Very hard AIs might be able to buy more levels though.
If you mean easy AI, well I hate to break it to you but the easy AI actually gets a resource penalty. I suggest you make a post in the strategy section explaining how you play, it sounds like you really aren't developing your economy very well if the easy AI is outbuilding you.
Actually, what I suspect(Due to him being AR) is you got the tech that gives you a 10% chance(or was it higher?) to get a clone of the enemy ship you just killed, meaning:Everytime he sends in ships, and your titan kills those ships. Those dead ships have a chance to respawn at that spot but on your side(For 10 mins max) and when his titan kills those, he will get the xp from those ships, meaning he gets levels.
Let's try that again. Contrasting GoaFan77's response and yours, we can see that (1) he answered the question with pertinent information (i.e. titans come back as the same level as the one you just destroyed, and capital ships can be leveled up by purchase), and (2) he didn't feel the need to be rude and dismissive.
Unless you want this game to fade into extinction, you need to provide helpful information and encourage new players so as to expand the playership, not insult them in some attempt to cull bad players from the herd. This is not the Stardock Marine Corps and you are not an officially-sanctioned Drill Sergeant; you are not part of any hierarchy that gives you the right to treat other people this way. They would respond far more readily to kind and helpful words, and in the meantime you wouldn't be offending potential players left and right. I am also sure the folks at Stardock would appreciate it if you would stop driving away new customers and/or preventing them from referring others with your ill-tempered screeds.
To paraphrase you:
•GTFO•Understand that u suck so u can stop sucking•Both of above.
-.- I recognized red-ruby before I even saw the name or avatar...that disturbs me.
And what race were you playing against? I don't know if it works on titans, or what level it caps at, but Advent do get Mass Transcendence, which gives a tiny amount of EXP to capitol ships. If it works on titans too, this could be the answer. Or the ability that auto-resurrects enemy ships into your fleet. If they had a large enough fleet, you may not have even noticed them before they popped. And strike craft. It's likely more than one thing, all adding up if you're really noticing it. I think there's a couple more I'm forgetting, but that's the major ones. Unless you're still getting tiny pirate raids. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, doesn't being in their own culture do something for EXP for one of the races? Haven't touched this game in a while...Waiting for full DS version...
-Huzzah!
The passive XP gain until level 2/4 from Mass Transcendence does not work on titans. However, I believe the 25%/50% increase to XP earned does apply, though I haven't done thorough testing of it.
Tech Loyalists have a tech for minor XP bonus in there own gravity wells, but I think it's only 10% after two levels. Really trivial, it's one of the weakest faction specific techs out there IMO.
Ah, okay then. Well, like I said, it's been a while. I should probably get back into this game...
I don't have a problem with beating the AI. I have a problem with the way you treat others...my point being that anyone even remotely familiar with educational theory knows that insulting people is not a way to motivate them to learn how to play SoaSE, and is in fact counterproductive if the goal is to get them to stick with this game long enough to become a long-term player and active member of the online community. You may think you are helping, but in fact you are chasing away many potential players, and discouraging others from asking questions in this forum lest they be subject to your peculiar form of abuse.
Every game has there good cops and bad cops HLT, and when things are about multiplayer I'd much rather have HLT as a bad cop that no cop at all.
Still, for single player issues like having trouble beating the easy AI, maybe you can turn it down a notch ruby, or just leave it to someone else. Once they indicated their interested in MP, I'll send them to you and they'll be all yours.
Ever the diplomat. You mean RR as the bad cop, of course. I'd make a terrible bad cop.
When I first saw his schtick, I didn't know what to make of it because it seemed incredible to me that anyone could think it was acceptable to treat others that way. Over time it became clear to me that he was serious, and not just kidding around. Even worse, I have seen others starting to emulate his super-rudeness, so I thought I would finally take a stand for civility. As I said, insulting people is much more likely to drive them away than it is to make them excited and enthused. If he wants to drive multiplayer to extinction or reduce it to a meeting of Asperger's Anonymous I guess that's his business, but I object when he creates an atmosphere that discourages new players from asking questions.
This also applies to the people who feel that old threads should not be resurrected, and throw around the "necro" label in lieu of answering the question, by the way. Not everyone has been playing this game since forever, and if a new player wants to add a comment or ask a question on a pertinent yet currently inactive thread, they should be able to do so and get a civil answer rather than be on the receiving end of a mocking and useless barb.
