No way!Everyone knows that you can't have on-the-fly terrain modification in a modern game. Using fireballs to create craters, watching water flow into them... nah. It's not done.
It has to be a trick.
Plenty of games have that. From Dust being a very strong contender for best implementation.
Yes, it has the graphical implementation - just none of the gameplay. (I bought it by accident, thinking it's a god game)
From Dust is a puzzle game. If you don't click the right "powers" in the right order, you lose and have to replay the level.
If you do click them in the right order, you get the cutscene and proceed to the next level.
Company of Heroes & Dawn of War games have craters usable as cover too.
Minecraft has TNT
Dwarf Fortress has cave-ins, magma rivers, obsidianization of lava, tunnel flooding, etc.
Went and bought the game, just to support the development. Loved Magic Carpet way back.
BTW: Magic Carpet 2 found it's way to GOG.com. Now that took a while.
