I am surprised no one here has made a thread singing the praises of this indy game which is still currently in Closed Beta. This ARPG has been in development for just about six years, and is still in closed beta, going to go open beta on the 23rd of January. I have been in on the closed beta since September, and I have to say that this game is just freaking incredible, for a number of reasons. It really IS the spiritual successor to Diablo 2. It takes some getting used to, since the devs HAVE made considerable advancements (it's not just the same old skill tree re-skinned), but it is incredibly deep, which should appeal to most Elemental players. I have a couple of closed beta keys to give away, if that interests anyone.
Moreover, the development team is very open, frank, and incredibly forthcoming on the forums.
What's frightening is that this game, which is STILL in Closed Beta, is currently in amazing shape. I'd honestly say that it is in better shape than most games I have played on release, and I am sorry to say that the current state of the game is more polished than Fallen Enchantress in its post-release 1.01 form. (It's a different genre, so I won't attempt to say which I feel is "better".) The guys at GGG (the devs of PoE) are very, very clean, and they are taking their time, no rushing here.
And last but not least: it's free. It's totally free. Yes, I donated to the kickstarter, but I don't get any loot for that; you can pay $$ for cosmetic skin variances, but you CANNOT pay for in-game loot or gain advantages of any kind, there is NO pay to win.

I'll take a closed beta key, please.
SpardaSon21- send me a PM and I'll give you one of my spare keys.
Also I have to agree this game is awesome and that skill tree is CRAZY!
Skill Forest
Their Youtube Channel- link
I´m in the beta since may 2012. Fantastic game.
And its not only the huge skill web of passive skills. Its the combination with the skill gems for activ skill and this skill web. So many options to play 1 class....
I'm interested as well (PM sent).
How important is the online aspect of this though? I tend to prefer to 'do things myself', so what is the SP experience like? Do you need to coop to do certain things?
I only got 2 spars so that's it unless SpardaSon21 don't want it. I'll give him until this weekend.
uber- I sent you a key.
I just sent you a PM.
Well I'm keyless now. Enjoy folks.
Wow this game does look really awesome. Does anyone else have any spare keys?
Ok guys thanks for the messages. I gave away my two keys already, I'm afraid you'll have to donate $10 to get in before January 23rd, or simply wait, it's only 6 weeks. Yes, it really is still in beta, and it is in much, much better shape than Elemental is now.
It is not fair to compare PoE with Elemental, these two games are so different. I mean PoE is in better shape then Civilization as well.
But compared to level of polish D3 has the game looks like amateurs did it.
But it is superior in almost everything else. What it lacks is physics system and animations needed for that, less desync issues and less hitbox issues.
I about 1-2 years it should surpass D3 in everything.
Yes, PoE and FE are very, very different. You'll see in my original post that I was loathe to compare PoE to FE, and I'm not going to do so. In my last post, which you quote, I am trying not to compare the two, but I am saying that PoE is in "better shape", and by that I do not mean that one is more fun, engrossing, pretty, deep, or "better", but I simply mean that PoE has fewer bugs, plays smoother, and feels more "complete" as a well-thought-out product or, perhaps, the more complete implementation of a plan or design.
Well I finally had time to DL the thing and check it out
Seems promising, though I'm a bit put off by the early economy since getting enough scrolls of wisdom or portal (or whatever they call it) is a bit of a hassle apparently. I guess you can just sell unIDed stuff you're not going to use anyway, which is what I do, but the inventory feels small, and the inability to easily go back to sell 'junk' makes me sad.
I will have to adjust I guess. Unless I'm missing something. Are there any filters for drops like TQ had?
Also, if any of you want to parry with a noob sometime let me know I'd be happy to try a bit of that. Saw some random parties I could join, but really didn't feel like it since my understanding of the mechanics is still so poor.
There are filters for items, but unlike other arpg games in this one all are useful. Mid and late game you need to be on a lookout for white items with good linked sockets (colors, numbers and links). Then you usually turn them into magical/rare items. It is much harder to find good magic/rare and arrange their sockets like you need.
Because game discourages you from selling 'junk'
It is just not sufficiently profitable. And once you pass couple of regions you have more identifying scrolls and portals than you really need. Just do not identify all blue crap
yes this game is very advanced when compared to D2 or D3
Pretty excellent. It does suffer from "all the names taken" syndrome. One great thing City of Heroes did right was tying User Names to e-mail accounts. Should it really matter if you're in a party where everyone's name is John or Mike? Happens in real life all the time.
Well, balance is pretty much ass right now and the desyncing is annoying. But apart from that, it's really good.
Game gets a thumbs up from me. I am really enjoying it.
yep definitely a lot more advanced than diablo 3
yes, great game.
Check Drakensang if you like those games too.
Difference, but both very good. indie games.
Downloaded today, 5gb and a total blast to play. The only thing I don't like is that vendors don't use currency, instead they pay you in other generic items when you sell stuff. Like, sell a magical breastplate, get 4 scrolls of wisdom used to identify magical items you find.
Other than that, what's not to like? Skills from runes that level up, crazy combinations like leaping fireballs, improving weapons over time, a solid random item system, exactly the kind of FUN stat hunting an ARPG like this should be all about.
Totally agree. I've been playing for a week & it's really addictive. Anyone who loved Diablo I & II but thought III left the rails will love this game. FTP but everyone should support them with non-game changing microtransactions if they can.
Actually, those scrolls are currency -- the lowest form, but currency none the less. You sell them crap, you get paid tuppence. I'm sure you've seen some of the other currency they have to offer in the later stages of the game, right?
